Social workers are people trained to do social work that is to help people in the
community with special needs. This profession is not easy at all as social workers
deal with people from different layers of the society and take care of them. They
render social support and protection to people with low income, unemployed,
invalids and disabled people, veterans of wars and labor, orphaned and abused
children and others.

As social workers constantly deal with people, they are supposed to have sound
knowledge of laws and social sciences and to have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social
work.

Social workers must be qualified, highly professional specialists, attentive to their


clients. They work in different spheres of social establishments: social services,
social centers, private agencies, child protection services, hospitals, schools.

They usually work 40 hours per week, but in some services work at nights and
weekends is possible. D

As social workers constantly deal with people they are supposed to have sound
knowledge of laws and social sciences and to have a Bachelor’s degree in social
work. They should be kind, attentive, polite, good- natured, communicative and
patient as it is a great responsibility to understand people and help them.

As a rule social workers are proud of their profession. They are deeply respected in
the society.
