How Do I Start JDLS

To start jDLS (Distributed Lock Service): 1. Ensure all users are logged off the local and remote systems to remove any attached shared memory for the T24 TAFC. 2. Stop the existing jDLS and check that the shared memory segment for T24 TAFC no longer exists using ipcs -a. 3. Remove the current T24 TAFC shared memory area using jdls -K. 4. Start jDLS using the jdls command to use OS file locks instead of shared memory for locking.

How do I start jDLS?

Before starting the Distributed Lock Service (DLS) ensure that ALL users are logged off from both the local and remote systems, else the shared memory area for the
specific T24 TAFC will not be removed and hence will not be resized to match the specified number of locks.
Check for the existence of T24 TAFC shared memory using the ipcs –a command.
 ipcs –a
-------Shared Memory Segments-------
key                         shmid                    owner                   perms   bytes                     nattch
0x24200900         xxxxxx                  t24admin             666         15120872             2
This example shows the T24 TAFC Shared Memory segment for T24 Project Build 2009, created by user 't24admin'.
The nattach column shows the number of processes attached, in this case 2, to the shared memory.
The number of processes attached MUST be zero to be able to remove the shared memory segment.
Once all users are logged off, stop the Distributed Lock Service and recheck the ipcs –a to ensure nattach is now zero.
jdls -k
Remove the current T24 TAFC Shared Memory Area using the following command and answer Y to the prompt.
 jdls –K
Ensure if the shared memory area for the release has been removed using the ipcs –a command.

The T24 entry key 0x24200900 should no longer be present.

jdls –ibD
To start the lock service using Shared Memory locks as the lock mechanism use the following command.
jdls –n255 –ibs100000,100
This configures 100,900  shared memory locks over 1009 groups at 100 locks/group, the –n option specifies the maximum number of semaphores to be used to control
access to the shared memory lock groups. The initialization procedure will reduce the number of semaphores until a valid number is accepted. This limit can vary from
system to system.  A hundred thousand locks should be sufficient for even a relatively large T24 installation.
