Search for Opportunities

Entrepreneurial approach to reinventing your business continuously

Entrepreneurial opportunity is a perceived first-seize-gain-most

chance to create and deliver innovative value profitably.
Don't talk about problems, talk about opportunities.
Be creatively dissatisfied and open-minded.
Opportunity Entrepreneur
a visionary and passionate person
an occasion or situation that makes
who habitually spots opportunities,
it possible to do something that
creates innovative customer
you want to do or have to do, or
value and gets it acquired
the possibility of doing something
by customers.

Entrepreneurial Opportunities are Everywhere

Think positively- a positive mind finds opportunity everywhere and in everything.

There are millions of entrepreneurs. Opportunities are everywhere.

There are enough opportunities for all entrepreneurs. Why? Because each
entrepreneur walk's s/his unique way. What is an amazing opportunity for
one entrepreneur is not so for other.

7 Sources of Entrepreneurial
Opportunities
INTERNAL
① The unexpected – the unexpected success, the unexpected failure, the
unexpected outside event  →  Learning SWOT Questions
② The incongruity – between reality as it actually is and reality as it is assumed
to be or as it "ought to be"
③ Innovation based on process need; any inadequacy in a business process that
is taken for granted
④ Changes in industry structure or market structure that catch everyone
unawares
EXTERNAL
⑤ Demographic changes caused by things like wars, migrations, medical
developments
⑥ Changes in perception and fashion brought about by changes in the
economy
⑦ Changes in awareness caused by new knowledge
Learning SWOT Questions Turn Problems to Opportunities
Ask Searching Questions
Adopt a → Creative Dissatisfaction   attitude.
The key that opens the door to opportunities is the approach of asking yourself
searching questions 'Why?' and 'What If?'

Sample "Why?" and "What If?" Questions

 Why we always do things this way? What if we do it → differently?

 Why should we limit ourselves to getting better in what we are doing? What if we change
things radically?
 Why should I look at this risk as a problem? What if I try to convert risks into opportunities?
 Why don't we try to challenge our big competitor's market leadership position? What if we create
a new market segment?
 Why should we look at cultural differences as a problem? What if we try to leverage the power of
our diversity?

Searching questions can help you → discover new opportunities, uncover the

roots of a problem, and find → creative solutions to it.
Asking searching questions starts with challenging assumptions. If you do not check
assumptions you cannot be good at asking searching questions. Don't ask one or two
questions and then rush straight towards a solution. With an incomplete understanding
of the problem it is very easy to jump to wrong conclusions.
Learn to unlearn.
You need to look at the things inside and outside you with new eyes if
you want to make discoveries.
Remember, nothing makes you blinder than a point of view.
Making conscious assumptions is a key tool of a → creative → thinker. "No great discovery is made
without a bold guess," said Isaac Newton.
Assumptive thinking is not the same as guessing though. Making an assumption is more like using a
tentative step.
→ 4 WHYs  of True Success

Assume that you are in a completely new situation. What would things look like to you?
Assume that you did something in a different way. How would it work? What would the
consequences be?

Continuous Process
Opportunity can and does exist within nearly every situation, event,
proceeding, or happening. The search for opportunities is not a one time event.
It is continuous and on-going. You must develop
your anticipating and entrepreneurial arts and skills to become sensitive to see
not only those opportunities which are boldly advertised, but also those hidden
under the day to day problems and issues.
