Mac Instructions
Mac Instructions
follow. DO NOT PANIC! We are here to guide you through opening the application so you can
play the game!
Before starting the instructions, check to see if your MAC is Intel based or Apple Silicon based.
In order to do this, click on the tiny Apple icon on the upper left-hand corner of the screen. Then
click on the option “About This Mac”
On Mac computers with Apple Silicon, About This Mac shows an item labeled Chip, followed
by the name of the chip
On Mac computers with an Intel processor, About This Mac shows an item labeled Processor,
followed by the name of an Intel processor.
After finding which your MAC has, please download the corresponding zip file from ITCH.IO.
(TOUCHSTARVED-INTEL.zip for Intel, TOUCHSTARVED-SILICON.zip for Apple silicon. The
filename in our screenshots is different, but all of the steps should work for both Apple silicon
and Intel chips.)
1. After downloading the demo, unzip the application. If you try opening the application you
will see an error message similar to the following:
2. The next step is to open Terminal. In order to open Terminal, click on this magnifying
glass icon which is at the top of your screen, and type in “Terminal”
3. Open the terminal application, and when you do you will see something that looks like a
text file.
Next you will need to make sure that the Terminal is in the same directory as your
TOUCHSTARVED download.
After downloading the app, TOUCHSTARVED should be in your Downloads folder. If
TOUCHSTARVED is not in your Downloads folder, please move it into the Downloads folder for
this next step
4. Type “ls” into Terminal right after the “$”. A list of folders should appear and “Downloads”
should appear as one of them
5. Type “cd Downloads” (without the quotation marks) into Terminal right after the “$”.
Terminal should now be directed to the folder that TOUCHSTARVED is in.
6. IF YOU ARE USING INTEL: type “chmod -R 777 TOUCHSTARVED-INTEL.app” into
Terminal after the “$”
7. IF YOU ARE USING APPLE SILICON: type “chmod -R 777
TOUCHSTARVED-SILICON.app” into Terminal after the “$”
You can now close Terminal and try to open TOUCHSTARVED again.
It’s possible that you will see a different error message when you try to open the app:
Please open “System Preferences” and click on “Security & Privacy”. On the “General” tab,
there should be a section that says “Allow apps downloaded from:”and under that section it will
ask if you want to open TOUCHSTARVED.
Click yes and then try to open the application again. When you arrive at this screen, click
“Open”
