MLA Style Guide
1. Formatting:
Include a header with your last name and page number in the top right corner of each page
2. In-text citations:
Use the author's last name and page number(s) in parentheses at the end of a quote or
paraphrase (e.g. (Smith 23))
If the author's name is already mentioned in the sentence, you only need to include the page
number(s) in parentheses at the end of the quote or paraphrase (e.g. According to Smith, the
"sky is blue" (23))
List all sources cited in alphabetical order by the author's last name
Use hanging indentation for each citation (i.e. the first line is flush with the left margin and
subsequent lines are indented)
Include the author's name, title of the work, publisher, publication date, and medium of
publication (e.g. Print, Web, DVD, etc.) for each citation
If a source has no author, begin the citation with the title of the work
If a source has more than one author, list them in the order they appear on the title page
