Model 510 Overview: Aircraft
Model 510 Overview: Aircraft
The Model 510 consists of the following six (7) main components: Externally mounted auxiliary water tank with water jettison capability Turret mounting structure Externally attached to water tank Power Pack mounting structure Externally attached to water tank High pressure water pumping system Spray boom w/ nozzle Winch Driven Turret and Spray Boom Controls Pilot Controls New generation insulator cleaning system with 3x production and increased distance for improved safety Aircraft The Model 510 modification is for installation on the Eurocopter AS350, 355 series rotorcraft as listed in TCDS (H9EU & H11EU). With the system installed the aircraft will be operated in RESTRICTED CATEGORY. (Reference 8110-12) Externally Mounted Auxiliary Water Tank The auxiliary water tank is from FAA approved Simplex composite materials; water capacity is 180 U.S. gallons. The tank has ground filling provisions; a pilot operated jettison system allows the pilot to jettison tank water contents in the event of an aircraft emergency. The tank system attaches to the existing aircraft external skid tube attachment brackets. All structural materials and their properties will be identifiable in MMPDS-02 and previously FAA approved Simplex Process Specification. Turret Mounting Structure The support structure for the Turret, spray boom, control panel and spray boom controls is an aluminum frame attached on the side of the water tank structure. Power Pack Mounting Structure The support structure for the Power Pack, high pressure water pumping system, is an aluminum frame attached to the tank structure on the opposite side of the AC and also serves as lateral counter balance. High Pressure Water Pumping System This pump is mounted in the Power Pack Mounting Structure (power pack) supplying the required water pressure (500 to 2000 psi) and water flow (5 to 6 gpm) to the spray boom/nozzle assembly.
Winch Driven Operator Turret and Spray Boom Controls The spray is locked forward for ferry flight and unlocked and deployed laterally for cleaning operations. A switch is provided to initiate the spray cycle for cleaning the insulator. A simple mechanical counter is provided for the operator to track the number of wash cycles; a switch to operate the winch driven turret assembly for articulating the boom up and down to clean the insulators. Spray Boom with Nozzle The spray boom with nozzle assembly is a custom designed spray boom with a nozzle attached for optimized performance in cleaning aerial power line equipment. The spray boom will be locked in a fixed forward position during normal flight conditions and will then be unlocked for articulation by the spray boom operator when the aircraft reaches the mission site. Upon completion of the mission the spray boom operator will lock the spray boom in the approved flight position for ferry to the operations ground base. Winch Driven Operator System Control Panel The operator system control panel includes the necessary switches to allow the operator to perform the following operations: Turn 510 system on /off Operate the boom up and down (winch driven) Operate the boom left to right (manual/handle bars)) Start/stop pumping of high pressure water to spray boom/nozzle Emergency stop controls for pump and motor Liquid Level Indicators (Lamps controlled by float switches) Low oil pressure Indicator (lamp)
System is self-powered, has quick connection points for easy and rapid installation and removal, and is external mounted to permit the aircraft cabin to be locked up when left unattended in accordance with FAA security regulations.
