Present Simple Tense: When Is It Used?

The present simple tense is used to describe: 1. Facts or general truths such as "the sun rises every morning" and habitual actions like "He eats breakfast every day". 2. It is also used with signal words that indicate frequency such as "every day", "sometimes", "always", "usually", "seldom", "never", "often". 3. The present simple tense has distinct verb forms for the first person singular ("I"), third person singular ("he/she/it"), and all other persons/numbers which use the base verb form.

Present simple tense

When is it used?
Facts/ General truths: example: the sun rises every morning.

Habitual actions: example: He eats breakfast every day.

Signal words:
Every(day, night, week,…etc) eg: I brush my teeth every night.

Sometimes eg: sometimes mom gets angry over silly things.

Always: eg: my uncle always brings me gifts.

Usually: eg: they usually have a walk together.

Seldom: eg: I seldom get anxious.

Never: he never does his homework.

Often : we often visit our uncle in the countryside.
