Reflection Questions

1. Please discuss at least one connection you've made between what you've studied in this LW

course and what you’ve learned from other courses you have taken at SLCC (or another

institution) or have learned before taking this class? Make specific references to your work

in this class and in other courses. How did what you learned in other courses enhance what

you learned here, and vice versa?

This course has allowed me the opportunity to become more in tune with my body, as well as

my mind. I have learned that there can be a lot of stressors that affect not only your physical

health, but your mental health as well. These stressors consist of things like relationships,

work, education, and more. By taking the time to focus on my body, I have noticed that the

other areas of my life have been impacted for the better. My stress level regarding my school

work is significantly lessened, causing an uptick in my work and grades. One other thing this

course has taught me that I have learned from my many English classes as an English major is

goal setting. By setting a short term goal that is achievable and can help me reach my long

term goal, I can be more successful in whatever it is that I am doing.

2. Reflect on what you thought about fitness and lifelong wellness before you took this course

and how you think about it now that you have completed the course. Have any of your

assumptions or understandings changed? Why? What assignments/activities/readings were

influential in this process? How will you approach what influenced you differently in the

future?
Before taking this class, my outlook on fitness was that it was important, but not a necessity.

It wouldn’t assist me in other areas of my life that I may be struggling with. I also regarded exercise as

something painful, and a way to push your body to the full limits of healthy capability with no true

improvement besides aesthetics. Now after completing this course, a lot, if not all of my opinions

regarding fitness have changed. By completing all of the required physical exercise the course

required, I noticed a shift in my mental health as well as my physical health. Exercising helped me

when I was in a very tough depression during the middle of the semester. Now that my outlook on

fitness is completely different, I will approach fitness, as well as many other things in my life; with

open mindedness.
