Problem
Any of the following errors may be linked to a common cause. The software could be working fine prior to having
the error codes:

Invalid license data. Reinstall is required.


When attempting to run FactoryTalk View Studio version 6.10, the following error

When attempting to run FactoryTalk View SE Client in a ThinManager system, seen in
VersaView 5000:
This software requires personalized information cannot be read.

 
When attempting to load an MER runtime file into FactoryTalk View ME Station
version 6.10, the following error occurs:
Unable to load application

 
When attempting to load an MER runtime file into FactoryTalk View ME Station
version 6.00, the following error occurs:
Unable to load application. Unable to open the HMI project. The
HMI project contains more displays then the FactoryTalk View ME
Station is licensed for (limit = 5)

 
The following error is displayed when the computer boots:
The Rockwell Application Services hung on starting.

 
The following error is displayed when trying to connect to the ViewPoint
administrative site:
Unable to connect to FactoryTalk ViewPoint administration.

Contact your system administrator

The network is disconnected.

 
When using the Specify FactoryTalk directory utility, clicking the Browse button,
causes this error:
’ADsGetObject(RNA_GLOBAL_SCOPE_ADSPATH,
_uuidof(pIRnaGlobalScope),

reinterpret_cast<void**> (&pIRnaGlobalScope))’ failed. Error

Getting the following two error codes when starting FactoryTalk View Studio:
Failed to initialize the service: {3F883B87-2208-11D4-B0E7-
001083022E04}

Failed to load HMI Server service.


 
 
When starting FactoryTalk View Studio, any of the following error messages may
appear:
Unable to connect to the HMI server in area ’<area_name>’.
RSView Studio is not licensed and cannot connect to servers
containing more than 5 displays.

Unable to connect to HMI server in area "<area_name>’. RSView


Studio is not licensed and cannot connect to HMI servers on
remote computers.

Cannot connect to add in object.

 
When FactoryTalk View Studio tries to open a HMI server in a remote computer, the
following error may occur, even though the server is licensed correctly and the
number of displays is well under the limit:
The HMI server in area <Area Name> refused to load its project.
The HMI Project contains more displays the server is licensed
for (display limit = <number of display>)

 
Every time FactoryTalk View Studio is launched, the following error occur even
though the FactoryTalk View Studio license is available:

When launching RSLogix 5, RSLogix 500 and RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000 software,

When launching RSLogix 500 it gives error message:

When launching RSLogix 5 it gives error message:

The following error is displayed during the installation of FactoryTalk Alarms and
Events:
Service ’ Rockwell Alarm Server ’ ( RnaAeServer.exe ) failed to
start.

Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system


services.

 
When launching Studio 5000 it opens in grace period even all licenses are present in
FactoryTalk Activation Manager.

When launching RSLogix 5000 project I keep getting Fatal Error:

Invalid license data. Reinstall is required.

 
When attempting to start Studio 5000 Logix Designer software, got Fatal Error:
Error 0x8002260 (-2147212704)

1. Open View tab in the following directories:

Windows XP:

Start menu --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Folder options --> View

Windows 7:

Start menu --> Control Panel --> Appearance and Personalization--> Folder options
--> View

Note: Appearance and Personalization is under Category View.

Windows 10:

Start menu --> Control Panel --> Appearance and Personalization --> File Explorer
Options -->View

 
2. Select Show hidden files, folders and drives.

 

3. Navigate to the following directory and remove all the .RNL files:

Windows Vista / Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008/ Windows 10:

4. Remove the .RNL files from a Recycle Bin as well.
5. Reboot the computer.

Note: If FactoryTalk Activation Manager v3.60 is installed, upgrade it to v3.62 and reboot the computer. If the
FactoryTalk View v6.00 is installed, follow technote FactoryTalk View 6.x Patch: SE Client or Studio will hang on
close (personalized information error)
