INSTRUCTIVE GUIDELINES ON THE USE OF THE E-LEARNING

PLATFORM COLLEGES OF EDUCATION


Below the tables are the basic instructions on navigating through the COE E-
learning Platform.

School Account ‘Super Admin'

BASIC NAVIGATION INSTRUCTIONS


Logging in

 On your web browser, open https://elearning.fceobudu.edu.ng/

 Then click ‘Login' which is on the top-right corner of the menu navigation bar of
your screen.

 You would be required to input your email and password, then click ‘login'

For usage purpose, the platform is categorized into different Users as listed below.

 Super-admin

 Tutor

 Student
SUPER-ADMIN ACCOUNT
Upon login as Super-admin, here are lists of features accessible by an admin whose
responsibility is to manage all the activities performed on the platform from the
dashboard.

 Dashboard

 Notifications

 Schools

 Courses

 Tutors

 Students

 Settings

 Logout

RESPONSIBILITIES OF AN ADMIN
The admin is saddled with the responsibilities of:

 Creating Schools

 Creating Department

 Creating courses and outlines (curriculum)

 Creating Tutors and Students

 Assigning Courses to Tutors and Students

 Managing all necessary Settings

BREAKDOWN OF THE FEATURES LISTED ABOVE.

A. DASHBOARD

Your dashboard displays the number of students, tutors, faculties, departments, classes,
Approved etc. as seen on the image below;
B. SETTING UP THE PARAMETERS AND FUNCTIONS:

To set up the platform to be ready for use, the Schools, Payments, Courses, and
Categories need to be set up. For other set-ups visit or click through Settings
located at the bottom of the side menu. Without these being set up, the system will
not be 100% ready for use.

1. SETTINGS

On the dashboard, click the setting at the bottom left corner of the menu bar. A new
page appears showing Levels, sessions, Year, Set-up, and Bank Settings.

 Levels: Here admin creates different levels (100L, 200L etc,)

 Session: Here, the Sessions are created, Example: 2022/2023 Session

 Year: Admin create the year e.g., 2023

 Set-up: This is where you set up the school, Admin selects the session
(2022/2023), and the Semester (First Semester) to complete the set-up.
C. SCHOOLS

Admin will create schools/Faculties as they are in the physical school.

Steps.

1. Click on the School Type on the side menu, then click on Colleges of Education

2. Click on Add Faculty or Add School to create a school.

3. Once a school is created, click on the school to create a department

To add/assign courses to departments,

 Click on the department

 Click view courses on the third card

 Click show courses below it

 Choose the courses for the selected Department and click “Add Button”

 Finally, Scroll down the list of added courses “Click Update” to confirm
D. COURSES

This houses All Courses created under each department, let’s say “CHEM102,
Agricultural Economics or Introduction to Chemistry”. To view the Course:

 Click on Courses, on the side menu bar,

 A list showing different Department as created before

 Click on any of the Department to View courses or create new Courses

 A list of Faculties/departments with the “view Course” Option Button

 Click the “view Course” to display all the Courses in that Department or
Faculty
TO CREATE NEW COURSE

1. Click on the department

2. Click on view Courses on the right

3. Click Add Course button on the top

4. Enter the Course Name, code and select what level

5. Then click create.

ADMIN CREATION OF TUTORS AND STUDENTS

Tutors
1. Click on Tutors on the side menu of the dashboard, click College

2. Click on New Tutors

3. Enter the Tutor Name, Email, select School (faculty) and Department and

4. Finally, click create. (The default password for all created account by Admin is
secret)
Assigning Courses to Tutors
1. On the Tutor table list

2. Click the eye icon on the left which is on every tutor list

3. It would show a new page, Click on the show courses

4. Add/Select course to enroll assign to a tutor.

5. Once done adding, Click “Done”

6. On the list of added/enrolled courses, Click enroll to fully assign those courses to
the tutor. (Hence, the tutor once they login will view and add course content to these
assigned courses)

Students
1. Click on Students on the side menu of the dashboard, then click college

2. Click on New Student

3. Enter the Student Name, Email, select School (faculty) and Department and

4. Finally, click create. (The default password for all created account by Admin is
secret)

TUTORS
E. TUTORS DASHBOARD

This shows the list of internal tutors/Lecturers created and Teaching in the institution.

Features exclusively pertinent to the Tutors Dashboard are;

 Dashboard

 Messages

 Classroom

 Profile.
Classroom
Classroom for Tutor Houses the following; Chats, Classroom, Live class, Assigned Courses,
Assignment, Exam, Tests, Notes, Library, Timetable, etc.

 Chats

Tutors and Students can have interactive sections or discussions during and/or
after Classes at any time.
 Live classes
Tutors can have a live class where students enrolled in the course can participate

How to Create a live Class

 The Tutor clicks on the “Live class” in the classroom

 Click Choose a course to go Live button with a dark grey background

 Select the Course you want to go live with, and Set-up the duration and start
date.

 Click Start Live to go live.

 You can record your live video class by clicking the record video feature
located at the bottom of the live video screen.

You can update a created live class for subsequent classes in the future
 Enrolled Courses
1. Tutor clicks on enrolled courses on the class room side menu.
2. From the list of Courses, click “more”, Click on take course
3. Create the course Outline and on each outline click, View files to create the
course content for each Outlines. You can add as many outlines a course has.
These outlines guide the students studying courses online.

Click view files to add course contents

 Attendance

Lists all the class attendance of enrolled students with time and dates.

 Assessments and Assignments

Tutors can create Assessments and Assignments for various courses they are
handling

1. Click on Assignment
2. On the list of courses you teach, click view More

3. Click on Create Assignment

4. Enter Assignment details and questions as follows. Follow the process

 Tests & Quizzes

Tutors can create Tests and Quizzes for various courses they are handling. It has
same process of creating assignment as stated above.

 Examinations

5. Tutors can create Examinations for various courses they are handling
Click on Assignment

6. On the list of courses you teach, click “More”

7. Click on Create Assignment

8. Enter Examination details and questions as follows. Follow the process

9. Finally click create Exam. Sam applies for Test Creation

 Time-tables

 Notes

Tutors add notes to the various courses they are enrolled in the class. Notes can
also be added based on outlines under listed Courses.

 Library

All library materials relating to the Course or Subjects being taught are uploaded
here for students to access as reference.
1. Click on Library
2. Click on any of the courses to upload a library resource
STUDENTS
Students (Students of a school) are created by the Admin of that school

Students will need to login with their credentials (Email and Password – “secret”),
Student will Click on their profile to update it. This will be the only way they can
access the courses in their class room

STUDENT’S DASHBOARD
TO TAKE UP A COURSE,

Students should follow the procedure below:

 Click on Courses on the Side menu

 Click on “Enroll Course” on the Side menu

 Select the available course or your choice to enroll.

 Click on more,

 then Click “Take a course”.

 Student can now access the content of the course material outline by outline.

JOINING A LIVE CLASS

Students can join Live Class when they take up a course from the enrolled courses in the
classroom.

 Click on the classroom feature on the side menu

 Click live class

 Select the Course that has the live class with a Join class button on a dark
grey background
TAKING A COURSE

Alternatively, student can also take or read a course by just clicking “Note” Feature on
the Side menu.

Assignment, Test and Exams

Student can write Test, Assignment and Exams from the class room. Here are steps in
taking a test on the elearn platform

1. Click on Exam

2. Click view on the course listed

3. Click on More

4. Click on “Take Assignment”
