I am a third-year mechanical engineering student at IIT Roorkee pursuing a minor in computer science. I am passionate about research, machine learning, and data science. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

I am currently a third-year student at the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee pursuing a


B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science Engineering and will
graduate in the summer of 2024. I am passionate about research, dance, music, Machine
Learning, and Chess. I am skilled in Machine Learning, Data Science, and programming. I
mostly spend my time learning in my academic courses, reading research papers, doing
projects related to ML/AI, and listening to Music. Throughout my academic career, I have been
involved in various research projects. I am highly interested in interning with ISTA because it
provides a wonderful opportunity to pursue my research interests in data science or machine
learning. I have been looking for an opportunity like this and when I learned about ISTernship, I
immediately started preparing my application.

My long-term career goal is to become a research scientist so that I can conduct research that
will help solve environmental problems. I want to pursue my career in research and want to go
for further studies at a reputed university and this internship would prove to be a stepping stone
for my goal. I want to learn more about data science and grow my knowledge through this
internship. This internship will provide me with valuable experience working on a real-world
research project.

In my 5th semester, I have taken the course - “Data Mining for Business Intelligence” as an
elective course in which I scored a grade point 9. I have done various projects related to ML/DL,
like - “Modeling of generated text documents using GANs and NLP”, “Formability Analysis of
metal sheets using ML”, “YouTube Comments Analysis” & “DeepFake detection from Images”
under respected professors of my University. Apart from these projects, I have also done
self-projects like “Video Similarity Descriptor”, “Titanic Survival Prediction”, “Forest Fire
Prediction”, etc. “Formability Analysis of metal sheets using ML” & “DeepFake detection from
Images” are my research-based projects where I have conducted rigorous research not only to
propose the required model but also to prepare the required dataset. Considering my
contribution to research, I have been granted a “Chanakya Fellowship” given only to students
who propose something novel through their research. I am Department rank 5 in my department
of strength around 160 students with a CGPA of 8.864. I have also received the “IITR Heritage
excellence award” for my annual excellence in academics along with extraordinary performance
in extra-curricular activities.

I am the best fit for this internship because it highly matches my skills and interests. My
communication skills are also very proficient. I have had a habit of conducting research since
the beginning and I tend to complete all my work before the deadlines which makes me stand
out from the others. I am excited to have the opportunity to intern with the ISTA and contribute to
important research.
