We nurses are well knowledgeable about almost all diseases a human person can actually
get from the environment, all the pathogens the human body can acquire and all the disabilities
a child can be born with. We aren’t just knowledgeable but well equipped too to fight such
diseases from the most harmless bacteria to those that can cause serious infection. But being
knowledgeable and equipped doesn’t actually make us invincible. We may look immortals but
nurses are still humans which can be conquered, defeated, subdued. We get tired too. The only
thing here is we never surrender.
In fact, from today’s issue which is the spread of this serious infection called the 2019
novel Coronavirus (2019-nCov) which infected already 90,000 people in china, 6,000 of them are
severe conditions and killed thousands of lives already according to Mr. Howard Catton the CEO
of International Council of Nurses, despite of this virus being a very harmful one which can
actually kill a human being, nurses from China as well as other affected countries are at the
frontline of detecting, managing, preventing and ensuring that the virus is not going to spread
further.
I have watched a video from Facebook, it is from a nurse who is from Hubei province in
china where the virus started. She is wearing a suit, she is in full gear with goggles and masks too
careful not to get infected by the virus. That time they were actually celebrating Chinese New
Year, everyone wants to go home, have some time with family, and have some dinner with their
loved ones. Those nurses can actually go home if they want to they are not infected after all. But
look at those nurses fighting a battle a virus have started they chooses to be with those infected
even if they can actually be with their families.
In the video she also have advised everyone who are watching the video that if they were
safe, they should never go outside to ensure their safety. How can a nurse inside an isolated area
where a virus have started can actually care for those who are outside, how can a person who is
in danger can actually care to those safer than her. Well that is how we are, nurses are selfless.
We oath to care for everyone but ourselves.
Nurses sacrifices a lot, time, family, efforts, happiness and even their own safety to ensure
the safety of others. Yes Nurses are tough, strong and they can even be limitless but Nurses are
not invincible, we cry, we get tired, we get infected, and we need medications too. What makes
nurses strong is that they are not afraid, because if we are going to be afraid then who else will
not? In this kind of war a battle between humans and a virus where in health becomes in danger,
we nurses are your soldiers.
RELATION OF HEALTH BEHAVIORS TO CONSISTENT INCREASE OF HIV CASES ACROSS THE GLOBE
Day by day civilization takes place, in line with this is liberation and freedom. With
freedom you can do anything you think is right and is good for yourself. You can decide freely for
what you are going to do or not. These days health is in most prioritized concern of the society,
especially those health problems in line with STD’s or Sexually Transmitted diseases that does
not only affect the person’s way of living but also affects how he/she thinks of himself and how
others think of him. And the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is one of this.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) in the beginning of the HIV Epidemic,
75 million people have been infected with the HIV Virus and about 32 million people have died
of HIV. It is written in the summary of the global HIV epidemic (2018) globally, 37.9 million people
were already living with HIV and estimated that 0.8% are aged 15-49. Yes this deaths may help
reduce the population of over populated countries, but the sad thing is that the reason of their
death is just that they neglect to practice good health behaviors, which if practiced properly can
actually give a person a long and happy life.
This day’s generation have undergone changes with the environment, from how they live
to how they dress and even to how they behave. According to science daily researchers from Tel
Aviv University suspected that the rise in HIV infection rates was due to a change in behavior. HIV
is commonly transmitted through sexual means then if your health behavior is not well-off then
you’ll get easily be infected by HIV.
We humans are busy enough to go and visit doctors or physicians for regular check-up
because we have this mindset that why would we need to visit doctors when we don’t even feel
even a slight pain in our body, what we do not know is that from that very small idea of not having
pain in the body something is already wrong. There are diseases that we can actually have
without symptoms and we should be aware of that in order not to harm others. HIV transmission
is more likely during its primary acute stage than during the following stage. HIV can stay
undetectable for over a year and during the clinical latency stage the carriers experience fewer
symptoms however, they are still able transmit it to another person.
Bad hygiene is one of the reasons why people can easily be infected by this kinds of
diseases next to sex without the use of protection. I am saying that if you want to live a normal
life without having such disease, you/we should take care of our body not for it to just be
beautiful but to also be healthy. Having good health behaviors can prevent diseases from
invading the body. Go visit the physician at least once after 6 months, have your body screened
and do vaccinations if needed. It can improve your quality of life and it can even decrease
morbidities.
HEALTH AS VALUABLE FACTOR IN DEVELOPING NATION
When we talk about health it does not only tackles about a person’s physical body but as
well as his/her mental condition and social well-being, if those three are not in harmony then you
may find everything you do difficult. Health in today’s generation is the most prioritize concern
because a lot of people ae living in poverty and those people never take their health seriously as
they are not aware that health should be on top priority because health will dictate how good
you’ll be in what you are doing.
The level of work a human body can execute depends on its health condition. Your mental
condition, physical condition, and social well-being are interconnected. Your body will react base
on what your mind says to do and that reaction of the body will dictate your social well-being.
Healthy habits help prevent certain health conditions, such as heart disease, stroke, and high
blood pressure. If you take care of yourself, you can keep your cholesterol and blood pressure
within a safe range. This keeps your blood flowing smoothly, decreasing your risk of
cardiovascular diseases thus increasing your competency at work. If a person is healthy enough
then he will be able to do higher work which can greatly help his nature of and help the country’s
economic progress.
But changes in economic status is not the only thing that defines a developing nation. A
developing nation can only be said that it is developing when the health of its people are on top
priority and is somehow developing too. What is the sense of having such tall buildings, economic
growth and international acknowledge if the health of your people are poor. Will you be able to
say that you are really developing? But of course the country is not the only responsible for the
health of its people you yourself to is responsible.
We all want to develop our country, but we can’t just sit and wait for the government to
do everything, especially not with the government we have here in the Philippines. We at least
help even it is from a very small way of improving our own health. Let’s be more responsible to
ourselves. Eat healthy, get regular exercise, protect your skin, don’t smoke, limit alcohol intake.
This simple steps can decrease the risk of developing several diseases like diabetes,
cardiovascular diseases and even cancer it can also actually decrease mortality rates, thus,
making the country healthier too.
Physical activity and exercise can have immediate and long-term health benefits. Most
importantly, regular activities can improve your quality of life. Being physically fit can fit you to
work to that requires heavy workloads that can greatly the company you are working for. You
can manage your stress and balance your work/life commitments, assess personal feelings and
effectively keep emotions in perspective that can help develop your work performance and
competency. Let’s all be healthy! And be a valuable factor for developing our own nation.
CHANGING THE SOCIETY THROUGH THE NURSING PROFESSION
We nurses are not just nurses. We are sometimes being looked down. But what the
society doesn’t know about us is that we do more than care for individuals. Nurses can be
advocates, educators, influencers, care givers, critical thinkers, innovators and many more. We
promote health needed by people. We educate people and patients on the prevention of illness
and injury, we provide care and assists in cure, participate in rehabilitation and provides support.
We can even be someone’s best friend we are their company in fighting though diseases and
illness we can be their soldiers inside a war between humans and bacteria. We are more than
what we deserve to be.
The way people live this days are unhealthy, they tend to eat a lot of instant foods tends
to celebrates all occasions in fast food chains. Tend to eat junk foods in anytime of the day. So in
love with milk teas. But what can we do? That’s how the life style of this generation actually work.
Nurses are capable of change through education. We try to change the society by educating its
people. Everything that concerns health is a nurse’s battle. It is their duty to inform the people
of what can be good and bad for them. Nurses do everything they to help educate people on how
they will prevent diseases, injuries and illness but it is up to those people if they are going to
follow.
Nurses can be an inspiration to everyone they can be one’s voices. Nurses are unsung
heroes of healthcare, bringing healing to the sick and ensuring dignity for the dying. Nurses does
not only shape the life of the people around them but do shape their professions too to fit to
those who are they going to educate. Nurses do practice their talk and such discipline will also
accelerate changes in the way all health care professionals work.
Nurses are capable of changing the society they are the most trusted health care
professionals. They develop good relationship with patients throughout the continuum of life.
Nursing is an honorable profession and nurses are the heart and soul of the health care system
so people will believe them. Nurses will do no harm to their patient. Nurses sacrifices a lot, time,
family, efforts, happiness and even their own safety to ensure the safety of others why wouldn’t
they listen to those person who only wishes them good?
Nurses can and do make a real impact in people’s lives, they can exhibit change from how
people live to how they behave. From how they handle stress to how they deal with it. Some may
not notice but you in time will see that you are actually putting life in a nurses words.
Nurses can’t actually do much but to care and educate, Nurses show their care in ways
that other professionals do not. Without care you can’t educate and remember education is a
virtual key for a successful changes.
