Activity 1

Assessment/Activities
Direction: Discuss the following questions. Write your answer in as short bond paper.

1. How does analytics applicable in your daily life? Cite examples to substantiate your
answer.
Analytics has become a major part of our lives as technology has become more
ubiquitous in recent years. We may not even realize it, but we probably use data
analytics almost every day. Analytics helps us to find out the solution very quickly and
very uniquely.
Example:
1. Healthcare - Another area in which big data has a direct impact in our life is
healthcare. Many aspects of the healthcare industry have changed because of
the collection and application of information such as:
 Keeping and recording medical records
 Potential cures and treatment protocols
 Increasing quality of life by tracking and improving

2. Entertainment - Data analytics has also enabled media companies to interact

directly with their audiences via pre-scheduled video streaming, resulting in
increased revenue. It is also used by entertainment and media companies to
assess consumers' entertainment interests and needs.
3. Media - Social media analytics is a method of gathering and analyzing data from
social channels in order to support business decisions. It enables us to assess
the effectiveness of actions based on those decisions via social media.

2. Is there really a need to include analytics in the education curriculum? Justify your
answer.
Yes, why? It’s because in recent years, the changing nature of work and society
has led to a need for higher education institutions to offer students more flexible and
versatile competences. This has resulted in an increased focus on lifelong learning and
a shift towards more interdisciplinary study. I believe that Universities should support
the development of these competences by using learning analytics as part of a blended
learning approach.
Data and analytics are critical components of educational learning materials and
business schools because they allow educators to assess their peers, themselves, and
their students. Understanding analytics enables institutions to provide powerful tools for
informing and supporting learners. Analytics is a rapidly expanding field in recent years,
with new tools being developed all the time. This data can help institutions understand
the strengths and weaknesses of their students and faculty members, as well as how
their programs compare to others in their field.
Activity 2
Assessment/Activities

Directions: Discuss the following. Use short bond paper for your answer.
1. Explain the importance of analytics in your program.

As a future business woman, business analytics helps me with measuring

the success of business strategies, comparing outcomes, and planning for the
future. And as a good leader, it allows me to use data to help me in expanding
my business's growth and increase revenue.
This will assist me in determining outcomes, developing strategies, and
influencing the manufacture of goods or services. It is also a useful skill for
communicating with my staff and employees. It may be easier to earn respect
and form synergistic working relationships if you can back up your reasoning with
concrete facts and measurable data.

2. How does analytics be useful in the following sectors:

a. Health Sectors –
Data analytics is essential in health care. According to Harvard Business
School, it assists health care organizations in evaluating and developing
practitioners, detecting anomalies in scans, and forecasting illness outbreaks.
Data analytics can also help health care organizations cut costs and improve
business intelligence.
b. Business sectors –
Data-driven analytics helps business to foresee their customers' needs
and develop solutions to meet them. Business analytics equips leaders with the
tools they need to turn their wealth of customer, operational, and product data
into valuable insights that lead to agile decision-making and financial success.
c. Tourism –
With each passing year, the importance of data analytics in the tourism
and hospitality industry grows. Companies in the travel industry can now track,
record, store, and process big data more efficiently thanks to new IT
technologies, allowing even small businesses to benefit from cutting-edge
solutions.
d. Agriculture –
Farmers can use data analytics to monitor the health of their crops in real
time, create predictive analytics related to future yields, and help farmers make
decisions about resource management based on trends that have already been
established. Increasing profits while simultaneously lowering waste

e. Economics –
Data analytics is crucial to the study of economics because it enables
economists to test their hypotheses and determine whether their models are
accurate. The goal of economic theory is to identify the motivations of market
participants and to comprehend the actions that businesses and individuals will
take in a variety of settings; however, empirical evidence is required to validate
these theories and establish whether they are correct. To be able to make
educated judgments about the way economies operate, economists need data
that comes from the real world. Without this data, they cannot possibly know
what is going on in the world around them.

3. Identify the type of measurement scale— nominal, ordinal, interval, or ratio—

suggested by
each statement:
a) John finished the math test in 35 minutes, whereas Jack finished the same test in 25
minutes.
b) Jack speaks French, but John does not.
c) Jack is taller than John.
d) John is 6 feet 2 inches tall.
e) John‘s IQ is 120, whereas Jack‘s IQ is 110.

b) Determine the value of the median. The median is 10.5
c) Determine the value of the mode. The mode is 10, 14
