Lesson Plan PR

The daily lesson plan discusses sampling techniques for a grade 11 research methods class. [1] It aims to help students understand different sampling techniques like simple random sampling and stratified random sampling. [2] Students will participate in group activities to illustrate these techniques using pictures and multiple intelligences. [3] The lesson evaluates students' understanding of when different sampling techniques are used.

Daily Lesson Plan in Practical Research 1

Grade 11

February 21, 2020

Content Standards
The learner demonstrates understanding of the description of a sample.

Performance Standards
The learner is able to describe sample.

Learning Competency
The learner describes sampling procedure and sample.

Pedagogical Approaches
Integrative Approach (Scaffolding-Knowledge Integration)

I. Lesson Objectives
At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
1. Understand the different sampling techniques.
2. Differentiate population to sample.
3. Perform an activity that can illustrate different sample techniques.
4. Value the importance of teamwork and unity among the group.

Subject Matter
Sampling Technique

II. Materials
Laptop
Powerpoint
Visual Aids

III. Learning Tasks

A. Routine Activities
1. Greetings
2. Checking of attendance
3. Recall of Previous Discussion

B. Lesson Proper
Activity
Group Activity: Each group will be given a strip of paper with jumbled letters. They will
arrange the letters to form a word. (POPULATION, SAMPLE, TECHNIQUE,
PROBABILITY)

After the students formed the word, they will get the corresponding pictures that can
easily define the words formed. Then asked the student to unlock the meaning of the
words using those pictures.

Analysis
1. What do you think is our topic for today?
2. Why do you think population or sample is important in research?
3. What is the importance of sampling technique in research?

Abstraction
Discussion
A population is a complete set of people with a specialized set of characteristics
.
A sample is a subset of the population.

Probability sampling methods can specify the probability that a given sample will
be selected.

Simple Random Sampling Technique- each possible sample of a given size

has the same likelihood of being selected.

Systematic Random Sampling Technique- pick a random case from the first k
cases of a sample; select every kth case after that one

Stratified Random Sample -divide a population into groups, then select a

simple random sample from each stratum

Cluster sampling - divide the population into groups called clusters or primary
sampling units (PSUs); take a random sample of the clusters

Multistage sampling - several levels of nested clusters, often including both

stratified and cluster sampling techniques

Group Activity:
Student will be grouped into four. They will be given an illustration of different
sampling techniques. They need to determine first the sampling technique that
corresponds to the given picture and they need to present the different sampling
technique using different multiple intelligences.
Group 1 – Simple Random Sampling Technique
Group 2 – Stratified Random Sampling Technique
Group 3 – Systematic Sampling Technique
Group 4 – Cluster Sampling Technique
Group 5-Multistage sampling Technique

NOTE: Rubrics will be considered for scoring.

Application
One of the major concerns in our society right now is growing human population,
based on the topic that we had, how can you control the increasing number of
population?
We are also created in God’s image and likeness. How each one of us differs
from one another?

Generalization
Student will be given a piece of paper. They will write how they can show unity
and teamwork beyond our differences and they will post it on the board while a song is
playing. Teacher will choose some paper and let the students explain what they have
written.

Evaluation
A. Name the sampling techniques used.
1. Every fifth person boarding a plane is searched thoroughly.
2. At a local community College, five math classes are randomly selected out of
20 and all of the students from each class are interviewed.
3. A researcher randomly selects and interviews fifty male and fifty female
teachers.
4. A researcher for an airline interviews all of the passengers on five randomly
selected flights
5. The names of 70 contestants are written on 70 cards, The cards are placed in
a bag, and three names are picked from the bag.
