HLTP(s) - Explaining and Modeling Content

Launch Today, I am going to introduce a new skill that will help you with
every text you read. Talking to the Text is a specific way to
annotate with symbols that increased your reading comprehension.
This will help us read LatinX Literature and any other text we read.

Analogies Talking to the Text is like catching up with an old friend. You will
have questions, comments, and connections. You are hearing new
information for the first time, just like reading a text for the first
time. It is a conversion with the text.

Progress Checks -Show on a fist 1-5 how you feel about the subject
-Thumbs up or thumbs down with your confidence level
-Have students repeat back directions to me or partners
-Walking around the room to make sure that students are on task
and check if anyone needs clarification

Conclusion Today, you practiced T4ing for the first time and we will continue
to practice this skill throughout this unit. Again, this skill is
something that translates to outside of this room as well. It will
help your reading comprehension with any text.

Anticipated Challenges - Students may not find the skill valuable

- Students may not use the symbols correctly
- Students may just make random makings to “complete the
assignment”

Adaptations/ A sample T4’d text will be given to the Special Education

Modifications for Department, as well as a note taking sheet to help outline what
Special Populations T4ing is.

Assessment The T4’d article will be collected for assessment.
