How do I get diagnostics, and when should I use them?

The Direct connect Driver maintains a log file for any errors that occur. This is normally located in the $HOME T24 directory and is called <RDBMS>driver.log e.g. DB2driver.log.
The details in the log can be increased by setting environment variables.
 
JEDI_<RDBMS>_TRACE=1                - Trace all driver operations
JEDI_<RDBMS>_PIDLOG=1               - Each process generates trace file based on pid
JEDI_<RDBMS>_DEBUG=1                - Only trace Query translation
JEDI_<RDBMS>_DEBUG_DISPLAY=1        - Display translated Query to screen
JEDI_<RDBMS>_EXPLAIN=1              - Log explain plan for queries (not MSSQL)
JEDI_<RDBMS>_EXPLAIN_PLAN_DISPLAY=1 - Display explain plan to screen (not MSSQL)
Where <RDBMS> is XMLORACLE, XMLDB2 or XMLMSSQL. 
The usual caveat applied is that these variables should only be used during problem analysis, as there will be an impact on performance and log size.
 
The following variables can be used to bypass the transformer which converts T24 data to and from XML. This is ONLY used to analyse the content of XML read from or
written to the database, and must be used with care.

R05 (jbc 5.0.x)  - Variables are JEDI_XMLORACLE_DEBUG and JEDI_XMLDB2_DEBUG and JEDI_XMLMSSQL_DEBUG
TAFC R10 and above  - Variables are JEDI_XMLDRIVER_DEBUG which is unique and applied irrespective of RDMBS flavor.
