AND DATA
RETENTION?

Surveillance and data retention are caused by:


(1) a lack of specification of technical means which can
be used by individual services;
(2) a lack of specification of what kind of information
and evidence is in question;
(3) an open catalogue of information and evidence
which can be clandestinely acquired in an operational
mode.

Furthermore, with regard to the access granted to tele


information data by the Telecommunications Act,
attention should be drawn to the wide array of data
submitted to particular services

LEARNED

We learned that the main problems concerned with


the employment of surveillance and data retention is
due to lack of specification of technical means which
can be used by individual services, lack of specification
of what kind of information and evidence and an open
catalogue of information and evidence that can be
acquired in an operational mode.

Surveillance and data retention is essential for us


especially in detecting and preventing crimes. It also
helps to store important data in a company,
government or any organizations. However, the
problem is that some of those special powers
significantly affect citizens' rights.

They should develop policy and procedures on data


security and confidentiality. Ensure that data security
policies define the roles and access levels of all persons
with authorized access to confidential data and the
procedures for accessing data securely. Ensure that all
persons who have authorized access to confidential
data take responsibility for implementing the
program’s data security policies and procedures,
protecting the security of any device in their
possession and reporting suspected security breaches.

The use of technology has profoundly changed. A lot of


website are accessible for free. But even if it's free we
should be remain aware about our privacy and find
ways to create awareness among our own networks and
friends. It is important to deepen our understanding
about the proper use of technology just like how our
network, location and browser tracking works in order
for us to avoid circumstances regarding to this matter.
