University is a path that opens up a lot of new experiences for me. I also got to try and get
used to more new things than when I was in high school. Now, I'm a sophomore and that stuff
doesn't bother me as much now compared to last year, when I was a freshman just starting out at
school and completely unknown nothing. Honestly, when I first entered university life. There are
many things that are totally different from the way I study in high school, so it makes me quite
overwhelmed. Like every week there are many deadlines waiting for me to complete. Compared
to having to go to school 5 hours a day plus extra classes from afternoon to evening in high
school, it still doesn't make me as exhausted as sitting all day in front of a laptop screen to do
assignments like now. One more thing, I got used to being that teamwork was the most common
way of learning in college. There are even many subjects that require teamwork to do the final
project, not an individual exam like every previous exam I have taken before. And until now,
having gone through dozens of group work during my 2 years studying at VNUK with many
different people, I have had countless experiences. Most of all, I also realized the importance of
teamwork at university and the benefits it brought me. According to Middleton, T., 2022:

 Study shows that group problem-solving produces superior results.

 If they have a team behind them, people are more inclined to take calculated risks that
result in innovation.
 Working as a team promotes the development of the individual, boosts job satisfaction,
and decreases stress.

When it comes to teamwork, of course, the most important part can only be choosing good team
members. That will be the deciding factor that your team project goes smoothly and successfully.
However, choosing good members here does not mean that only those with good education and
knowledge should be respected. In some cases, you can see people who look very good when
they perform individually, but when working as a team, they just push the responsibility, avoid
work and contribute absolutely nothing. There are also opposite cases such as members who,
despite their weaker academic ability, have a very serious attitude to teamwork. Always present
fully and on time in every meeting of the group, contribute ideas and have the spirit to help
everyone else. So capacity is not always what is needed most. For teamwork, professionalism is
always ranked above all. It sounds like an obvious thing that everyone knows. But the reality is
never so rosy. We do not always have the right to choose our own team members when doing
university projects. In most projects, lecturers will be the ones to select groups in a random
arrangement to create fairness for the whole class. So having to work in groups with superficial
members and sometimes even having to be the one doing all the work for the whole team will be
quite common in every college as I think. In fact, any student will experience a similar situation.
If you are lucky, you will only meet once, or worse, several times or there are students who
always face such ironic situations and do not know how to solve them properly. As a university
student, I am no exception. As I said before, VNUK gives me the opportunity to work with so
many different people. The second year requires me to work in groups even more often.
Currently, I am studying five subjects in the first semester. And I have four different groups
working on final projects for four subjects. In the Intro to marketing course, the lecturer
randomly assigned the group for my final project. Despite missing one member compared to the
rest of the groups. Fortunately, my team still finished the work very early and progressed
smoothly because all of the members worked very responsibly. It seems like an experience that
brings a lot of luck to me. Because thanks to the professionalism of everyone on the team, it's
like a motivator to help me do my best work so as not to disappoint people. This teamwork
experience was successful thanks to a variety of factors. Responsibility and professionalism from
the members, everyone comes together to contribute ideas to speed up the work progress.
Professionalism is also reflected in punctuality. Although everyone is busy with their own
studies and work, they still try to arrange a time for group work, not with an attitude of pushing
or avoiding. In addition, we have a conscientious and extraversion team leader. He divides the
work fairly and always creates a connection between the members. For me, it's a role that
requires a lot of skill and it's hard for anyone to do it perfectly. Competence is just a secondary
factor then because if any member has difficulty with their job, everyone else is always willing
to help. That's why our team, even though lacking members, still got the work done so smoothly
and quickly. Honestly, you will be a lot more productive if you have the opportunity to work
with people who are also productive.

But in life, we will not always meet such lucky experiences. In another course, I was also
lectured to a group to do the final project randomly from all members of the class. Actually, the
study environment at VNUK is quite small, so it is easy for everyone in the same course to get to
know each other. There are many people who are known to work very responsibly, with an
extremely serious attitude that makes everyone want to work with them. But there are also many
people who are known just for leaving a bad impression when working in a group and making
the rest of the people dissatisfied about it. And this project, I have to work with one of the cases
with a bad working attitude as above. I was pretty freaked out when I received an email
announcing the group list. And just what I expected in terms of how they will work. Although
the deadline is approaching, there are still people who have no intention of joining the group chat
that I and others have set up to discuss and divide the work. I think maybe they don't even care
what group they're in. And until now, there is no new activity in the group since it was created.
Even though I'm not an irresponsible member, I'm not someone who has the qualifications to be
a team leader to handle situations like this.
