Background of the Study

1) AUTOMOTIVE SERVICING NC II consists of competencies that a person must achieve to


inspect, clean and repair mechanical or electrical parts, components, assemblies and sub-
assemblies of light and heavy-duty automotive vehicle with diesel or gas engine in accordance
with manufacturer's specification.

The automotive industry comprises a wide range of companies and organizations involved in the
design, development, manufacturing, marketing, and selling of motor vehicles. It is one of the
world's largest industries by revenue. It is also the industry with the highest spending on research
& development per firm. Anything automotive has to do with automobiles — in other words,
cars. The automotive industry, for example, is all about making and selling cars. If the
windshield wipers fall off your car, get new ones at an automotive shop

1.Wrenches- For opening the nuts, you need to use the wrenches. Wrenches are available in
various models. There are combination wrenches, adjustable wrenches, wrenches of different
sizes like ¼ inch, 3/8 inch, ¾ inch and ½ inches. There are the four most common sizes.
2.Rachet- A ratchet consist of bar or wheel with a set of angled teeth that fits into the tooth
allowing the movement in any one direction
3.Pliers- Similarly, there are the pliers. Pliers are available in various sizes and they are used to
open the nuts of various sizes. There are the sockets and they come in various sizes that one need
to select according to the size of the nut one want to unwind
4.Wire strippers and Cutters- There are the wire strippers that come in diameters of different
sizes. The wire cutters are available as well though strippers can be a better option as through
that there are fewer chances of the wires to be torn apart
5.Screw Drivers- Screwdrivers are available in various names like Philips screw drivers and
Jewelers precision screw drivers. Combination screw drivers with box screw in one side and the
basic one on the other side are available
6.Jacks- For lifting purposes, we have equipment like the mechanical jack, hydraulic bottle jack
and various other jacks. These can lift quite heavy weights with least force.
7.Hammer- A hammer is a tool with many applications, without which you will face difficulty
performing even the most common tasks on your vehicle. Whether you need to push something
into alignment or need extra force to remove something.
8.Socket Wrench- Your ratchet, or socket wrench, will save you plenty when it comes to elbow
grease. They're excellent for tasks with multiple bolts involved, as your ratchet handles all the
work of loosening or tightening them.
9. Air Compressor- Technically, you may not need an air compressor as a beginner, but it sure
makes working on cars a whole lot easier. You can use your air compressor to adjust tire
pressure, run a pneumatic impact wrench—the list goes on and on.
10. Vise-Grip Vice-grips are also known as locking pliers. They are handheld clamps with a
shape similar to that of pliers. This tool is useful when you need to hold something which is in an
awkward position, grip something in place for a long time, or grab something without gripping
features.
11.Safety Glasses- Safety glasses are a must when working on cars. Accidents are unavoidable,
and you don’t want to put your eyesight at risk.
12.Flashlight -It’s important to be able to see what you’re doing when you’re poking around
under the hood. A good flashlight is something you’ll use every time you’re working on a car.
13.Toolbox -You can’t just leave your tool collection lying around the garage—you need a
toolbox! Even though some toolboxes are obscenely expensive, there are plenty of affordable
options if you shop around. Home improvement stores often have good deals, as do yard sales
and estate sales.
14.Fire Extinguisher -You never know what might happen when you’re working in the shop. Be
sure to always have a fire extinguisher on hand in case of an emergency.
15.Test Light -Test lights are used during the inspection of blown fuses, starters diagnosing, light
bulbs not working, and other simple electric problems. The best type of test light you should buy
is a dual-polarity test light. It is of great help to any beginner mechanic for it will help them to
make a correct electric diagnosis.

servicing easy, making them essential for use when working on vehicles. Without the right tools
on hand, you will find it difficult to complete the tasks you need to perform without errors or
delays. Automotive equipment is to avoid machines and equipment breakdown & enhancing
performance

Angeles City National Trade School is a school in Angeles City, Philippines. ACNTS provides
technical-vocational education and training. Courses available at the school include furniture
and cabinet making, electricity, animation, computer hardware services, automotive, civil
technology, machine shop practice, welding and fabrication, electronics, refrigeration and air
conditioning, food trades, garments, cosmetology and drafting.
The school occupies 4.18 hectares donated by the late Governor of Pampanga, Gov. Francisco
Nepomuceno, bounded by the highly urbanized Sunset Village. Inside are 29 buildings that serve as
classrooms and laboratories, a double size covered court donated by Congressman Blueboy
Nepomuceno and Senator Lito Lapid and other learning facilities are made available for the students
as their second home.

The target of this research is the students who take the automotive track at Angeles City National Trade
School (ACNTS). The problem is the student's lack of experience on how to use equipment and tools in
the automotive track in this case, the reporter must do his/her work to know what is the cause of this
problem and how the reporter can find an answer to resolve the problem.
