Because the degree of compaction in the lab and at the site may differ, the unit
weight calculated in this lab is not directly acceptable for the conversion of mass to
volume of the aggregates for the purpose of volume batching.
Discussion:
The dry loose unit weight of normal-weight aggregates ranges from 1120 to
1760 kg/m3. Aggregates consisting of both coarse and fine particles are called

combined or mixed aggregates. Natural mixed aggregates taken from the deposits and
used as they occur are called all-in aggregates or pit-run aggregates.
Significance:
Conclusion:
Based on the results that we have obtained, we can conclude that we were able
to find out the unit weight of fine and coarse aggregate by following the compacted
condition of aggregates. Based on the results, we learned from this experiment that the
size of the particle, shape, moisture content, and, most importantly, compaction are all
features of aggregates that determine the unit weight. These aspects must be taken into
account in order to reduce errors that could affect the outcome.
