This study aims to evaluate the potential of Talisay leaves as an alternative material to traditional corkboards. Talisay leaves are a natural, renewable resource that is less expensive and more environmentally friendly than cork. The study will compare the tensile strength and compatibility with adhesives of Talisay leaves to cork through a series of experiments. The goal is to demonstrate that Talisay leaves are a stronger, more durable, and sustainable alternative to cork that could help reduce pressure on cork production and its environmental impacts. The researchers hypothesize that Talisay leaves are a suitable corkboard material based on initial findings of their strength and inherent water resistance. If testing shows Talisay leaves support pinned items without breaking down,

Terminalia Catappa Leaves as an Alternative Material for Corkboards

Chapter 1: Introduction
Kim I. Background of the study

• What is your main topic and why did you choose it?
This study highlights the potential of Terminalia catappa leaves, also known as tropical almond
leaves or Talisay, as a substitute for corkboard. They are a natural, renewable, and readily
available resource that is both less expensive and more environmentally friendly than cork.
They have the additional benefits of being strong, long-lasting, and naturally water-resistant.

• Who is your understudy company/group, why did you choose them?

Talisay leaves, known as Terminalia catappa, can be a cost-effective and sustainable alternative
to traditional corkboards for students, office professionals, homeowners and business owners.
They could lead to cost savings and sustainability benefits and research on their use as
corkboard material could lead to unique products that could help businesses stand out.

• What is the current situation?

Cork, a product made from the bark of the cork oak tree, is currently the material used to make
corkboards. It is a naturally occurring and renewable resource, but it is affected by weather,
pests, diseases and shifts in consumer demand. Harvesting cork irresponsibly or in large
numbers can lead to deforestation and habitat destruction.

• What is the desired situation?

Our goal is to introduce our product into the market as an alternative. And lessen the pressure
in cork production.

• What are the problems and why these problems exist?

Talisay leaves may be a suitable alternative to traditional corkboards, but further testing is
needed to determine its long-term durability and compatibility with pins and other objects.
Availability and familiarity with this alternative material are also unknown, as it may not be as
widely available or familiar as traditional corkboard materials in all locations.

• Justification for the need for your research proposal

Talisay leaves, also known as Terminalia catappa, are a potential alternative to traditional
corkboards due to their strength, durability, natural water-resistance, availability, and low cost,
and being a natural and renewable resource.

Nathaniel II.Statement of the Problem

The research aims to evaluate the potential of Talisay leaves as an alternative to corkboards by
comparing their properties to cork. The study aims to demonstrate that Talisay leaves are a
stronger and denser alternative to cork and a more environmentally friendly option, given the
concerns about unregulated cork harvesting and its negative effects on the environment.
A. Research Questions
We have 4 example of possible research questions for the study that can be seen in the paper.

B. Research Objectives
Research objective the most import is that "Talisay leaves is seen to be much more sustainable
than cork" as it highlights the environmental benefits of using Talisay leaves as a replacement
material for corkboards

(which is an important consideration in today's world where sustainability is a crucial issue.)

Kim III. Significance of the Study

The study aims to examine the use of Talisay leaves as a substitute for corkboard, to decrease
demand for cork production and its negative environmental impacts. It aims to provide a
foundation for future research and assist businesses in finding an alternative to cork, leading to
new business concepts and a reduced demand for cork production.
IV. Scope and Delimitation
The study aims to compare the performance of Talisay leaves to corkboards by testing their
tensile strength and different types of adhesives. The goal is to present a low-cost,
environmentally friendly alternative material that could replace cork and find the best adhesive
to use with it.

Chapter 2

Nathaniel I. Theoretical Framework

We have there written our theoritical framework located at the 4th page
Nathaniel: This shows our EDD that can also be found on the paper provided.
Kim II. Conceptual Framework/EDD (Experimental Research Diagram)

Nathaniel Hypothesis of the Study

This is our hypothesis:
Talisay leaves, also known as Terminalia catappa, have been found to be sturdy and long-
lasting, making them a suitable alternative for corkboards.
They can support the weight of pinned items without breaking or disintegrating, and are
inherently water-resistant.
Using Talisay leaves as a corkboard material can be beneficial for customers and the business
sector, as per the testing and findings obtained.

Chapter 3: Methodology
Nathaniel
I. Research Design
Experimental Research

II. Population and Sample Method

This is our population and sample (anyone could be part of our population (showed in
PowerPoint)) but survey participants would likely be students, professionals, and others who
frequently use corkboards.
III. Sampling Techniques
Simple Random Sampling and Convenience Sampling
IV. Data Gathering Instruments
Data for this study will be gathered from a series of experiments, primarily using
instrumentation created by the researcher.
V. Data Gathering Procedure
The researchers will create four setups, designated as Setup A, Setup B, and Setup C. And the
next steps are written on the paper we provided.
VI. Data Processing and Analysis
The researchers will analyze the data gathered through descriptive statistics
