2 Safety
Caution
In order to eliminate the risk of electric shock, this device must be connected to the
power supply only with the protective cable.
WARNING
All adjustable components of the equipment are to be operated with the neces-
sary caution. Also, they should be checked regularly (as described in the relevant
operating and maintenance manuals).
The high-voltage cables may only be disconnected from the X-ray tube or from
the high-voltage transformer after ensuring that all main and auxiliary power cir-
cuits are disconnected.
Failure to comply with the above rules may result in serious personal injury and/or
equipment damage.
WARNING
Making changes or modifications to the GENESIS DT X-ray generator is not permit-
ted!
2.1.4 Systems
“Additional equipment that is connected to medical electrical equipment must have the appro-
priate certificates to comply with the respective IEC or ISO standards (e.g. IEC 60950 for data
processing equipment). Additionally, all configurations must meet the standard requirements for
medical systems (see IEC 60601-1-1 or section 16 of the 3rd edition of IEC 60601-1, respec-
tively). Any person who connects additional equipment to a medical electrical equipment system
is a system configurator and therefore is responsible for ensuring that the entire system com-
plies with the standard requirements. It should be noted that local laws take precedence over
the above mentioned requirements. For further inquiries, please contact your local dealer or ask
an expert.”
2.1.8 Maintenance
The maintenance of the generator must be performed by qualified personnel who are familiar
with the safety requirements. It is important to read about this in this manual.
2.1.10 Compliance
On the basis of criteria of Council Directive 93/42/EEC, the GENESIS DT/DTs X-ray generator
from Josef Betschart AG is a medical Class IIb device. It complies with applicable harmonized
standards:
EN 60601 Medical electrical equipment:
EN 60601-1 Part 1: General requirements for basic safety and essential perfor-
mance
EN 60601-1-2 Part 2: Electromagnetic compatibility
EN 60601-1-4 Part 4: Programmable electrical medical systems
EN 60601-1-6: Part 6: Usability
EN 60601-2-54: Part 2-54: Particular requirements for X-ray equipment
EN 62304 Medical device software – Software life-cycle processes
EN 62366 Medical devices – Application of usability
EN 14971 Medical devices – Application of risk management
With improper use, both the primary beam as well as the remnant beam radiation
can cause fatal damage to persons in the vicinity of the X-ray equipment.
To prevent unnecessary radiation exposure, only the parts of the body to be ex-
amined by the X-rays should be exposed - all other parts should be protected
with appropriate protective equipment.
X-ray equipment should be operated only by qualified personnel.
The equipment operators must be familiar with and be able to apply radiation pro-
tection regulations.
Failure to observe these safety regulations may lead to fatal injuries to patients
and persons in the immediate vicinity of the X-ray equipment.
2-point mode: if the preset mAs product is exceeded by more than 20%;
3-point mode: if the preset switching time is exceeded by more than 20%;
in all exposure modes: when “Dose Test” is selected in the setup, the monitoring system halts
the radiation immediately when the assumed value of the expected
cut-off dose is not reached within the first 50 ms of the exposure.

NOTE
Wiring within components described in sections 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 must not be
changed by service technicians.
WARNING
Even if the generator is turned off, voltage is present in the power cabinet, the
power supply and control circuits. The installation, commissioning, repair or disas-
sembly should only be performed by personnel sufficiently trained by the manufac-
turer!
In addition to the network connection a potential equalization cable is required for the GENESIS
DTs X-ray generator. This must be connected with a 6mm² earth line (AWG #10) between the
designated connection point in the main installation and the earth connection pin of the housing
of the GENESIS DTs X-ray generator. In the above tables of prescribed cross-sections for pow-
er supply cables, the cables are deliberately larger than the cross-sections cable specified in the
relevant standards, which are usually defined according to the value of the preliminary fuse.
The reason is to improve the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
Connect the conductors of the mains power lead (usually not part of the generator delivery) with
the appropriate terminals of the mains filter (GENESIS DT) or with the appropriate plug in the
charger of the GENESIS DTs). During installation of the mains power lead it is essential to en-
sure that this lead is protected against pulling and twisting.
NOTE
Mains connection schematic shown here should be considered as an example of
how a professional connection to the supply mains could look. National or regional
legislation applicable to your installation may deviate from this schematic. Applicable
laws and/or rules must be respected in any case.
WARNING
You must absolutely ensure that all connection cables are disconnected from the
mains and that the main switch in the power box (see schematic diagram below) is
turned off and secured against unintentional reconnection before you start to handle
stripped ends of the connection cable.

NOTE
With these settings the GENESIS DT X-ray generator can be operated on most
power supply networks. Adjustments to the defined voltage values must only be
made in agreement with the manufacturer.
WARNING
Incorrect settings of the network monitoring relay can lead to errors and even de-
struction of the GENESIS DT X-ray generator.
For X-ray systems with fluoroscopy and/or further additional functions such as image intensifier,
spotfilm device, tilting table, further connections can be added to the generator.
All connections between peripheral equipment and the X-ray generator are connected either to
the Bigboard 1 (GST – generator control) or to the Bigboard 2 (OST – device control):

4.3.3.2 Earth connection between the tube housing and the X-ray generator
To ensure that the X-ray system works properly, it is important − especially for safety reasons −
that the tube housing is properly connected with the earth potential.
The earth cable used for this is not part of the generator, but can be obtained from the genera-
tor supplier, if required. This is generally a stranded wire with a green/yellow sheath and a
cross-section of at least 6mm² (AWG 10).
NOTE
It is essential to observe the instructions of the X-ray tube assembly manufacturer
when connecting the earth cable. The earth cable must be connected with the earth
plate in the X-ray generator housing on the X-ray generator side.
WARNING
Faulty HV wiring and/or the absence of an earth connection can lead to faults and
can destroy the X-ray tube assembly and/or the X-ray generator. Severe injuries to
the patient or operator of the X-ray machine, or even death, cannot be ruled out in
such a case.

Table 4-21: Potential-free contacts to signal operating states
The 25-pin D-sub female connector (J) has a total of 7 digital outputs and 7 digital inputs, and
also an analogue input. This allows various additional functions to be connected or status mes-
sages to be accessed:
door contact
tube position detector
pulse generator for pulsed fluoroscopy
digital dose rate control for fluoroscopy devices
analogue dose rate control for fluoroscopy devices
output of various status messages of the x-ray generator
NOTE
A fluoroscopy examination interrupted by the door contact can be continued after the
door is closed.
NOTE
If there is no tube position detector, checking of these tilt switches can be deactivat-
ed by a service technician during installation of the generator (see section
5.2.2.2.2.1.5).
Function:
A new control variable is calculated from the control deviation (actual value – “ABC set point”)
and the value for “ABC control kp” set in the SETUP (section 5.2.2.2.2.1.4) and reset during a
control cycle. In the continuous fluoroscopy mode, the control cycle is 100ms, while in the
pulsed fluoroscopy mode the control happens in synchronism with the pulses.
To switch the analogue control system on, the value for “ABC set point” must be unequal to 0 in
the SETUP (section 5.2.2.2.2.1.4), otherwise the digital control system is always used.
NOTE
For exact relevance of the system parameters described in this section (“ABC set
point”, “ABC control kp” and “ABC set point”) please refer to related chapter
5.2.2.2.2.1.4.
4.3.3.20.2.4 Generator status signals
The GENESIS DT X-ray generator provides various status signals for controlling and monitoring
external control devices for fluoroscopy:

NOTE
The delay times in the above table (t’s) are based on calculations. In cases where
the exact values are crucial, measure the corresponding times.
PH_LIGHT_LOW The digital output of the dose rate control signals too little brightness:
the generator responds to this signal by increasing the dose (increases voltage and
current).
0V…2.5V…5V Analogue control signal of the dose rate control to adjust the dose:
if the voltage is less than 2.5 V, the dose is increased;
if the voltage is greater than 2.5 V, the dose is decreased.

NOTE
For installation of a USB to RS232 converter please refer to the installation instruc-
tions for these components, which are not included.
WARNING
As soon as the user software installed on the control panel or on an external per-
sonal computer is started, the generator turns itself on – thus, all components of the
generator are live. Ensure that the generator is disconnected from the mains and
that the d.c. link circuit is discharged before you remove the covers and perform any
manipulations in the generator!
WARNING
During the X-ray generator set-up radiation is inevitably released. Ensure that all
necessary measures for protection of persons in the environment of the generator
and X-ray system are taken. The responsibility lies entirely with the responsible ser-
vice technician.
Clicking on “Set” establishes a connection with the generator. The message “KVC Version
X.YYYY, OCC invalid version: 0” should appear in the status window, followed by version identi-
fications of the firmware components DLL, KVC, OCC and DLL again.
After a few seconds, the “focus button” and subsequently the “device button” are activated. The
system is thus ready for further set-up activities:
Through clicking on the appropriate drop-down menu entry the associated submenu appears:
5.2.2.1.1 Open
File selection box for opening any available existing SETUP files (files with the extension .svc).
If the SETUP file “x_swiss.svc” exists in the directory, this default SETUP file is opened auto-
matically when the setup program is started. Subsequently it can be adjusted accordingly.
NOTE
It is recommended to save each changed SETUP file under its individual name.
5.2.2.1.2 Save
The currently loaded SETUP file is saved
CAUTION
To enable the generator to react to changes in the SETUP file, it is essential that the
SETUP file be exported to the generator. As certain changes can only be made
5. 2.2.1.6 Exit
The setup program is ended.
If any settings have been changed in the setup program, but not saved, this
window appears.
WARNING
If this question is answered with “NO”, all the changes are irrevocably lost and have
to be re-entered after the restart of the setup program.
NOTE
Modification and/or capture of the tube characteristics requires some knowledge.
Thus, it is strongly recommended to have this work carried out solely by an experi-
enced service technician.

NOTE
The shortening of the waiting time increases the load on the heating cathodes of the connected
X-ray tube assembly, which could have a negative impact on the lifetime of the emitter.
5.2.2.2.1.1.16 Increase the heating output during the waiting time after switching the focus – small focus
Fil.-mA focus+: Immediately after the focus is switched, the selected cathode is preheated
with the Fil.-mA standby current (in mA) defined in point . With this
function the standby current can be increased for the duration of the de-
fined waiting time under point by the values (in mA) shown in the
dropdown menu.
WARNING
The increasing of the standby heating current for the duration of the switching waiting time is the
sole responsibility of the person doing this. This function can have a negative impact on the life-
time of the connected X-ray tube assembly.
5.2.2.2.1.1.17 Increase the heating output during the waiting time after switching the focus – large focus
Detailed description see point (P)
WARNING
The increasing of the standby heating current for the duration of the switching waiting time is the
sole responsibility of the person doing this. This function can have a negative impact on the life-
time of the connected X-ray tube assembly.
Importing of data for tube 1 / tube 2. The data are written into the generator setup, but not into the tube data
file.
Cancellation, changed data are not imported
5.2.2.2.1.1.18 Load the cathode heating data from an existing tube data file
With the function all data of a tube data file are loaded.
Only the heating data from an existing tube data file are loaded with this function.
This function can be used if a new X-ray tube assembly that is not currently present in the tube data data-
base is to be defined. The setup function ( or ), or the auto-setup function ( or ) achieves good
results much faster if the heating data of a similar X-ray tube are loaded before these functions are executed.
5.2.2.2.1.1.19 Save the cathode heating data in an existing tube data file
With the function all data are saved into a tube data file.
Only the heating data are saved into an existing tube data file with this function.
This function can be used if previously loaded heating data are changed with the setup function ( or ),
or the auto-setup function ( or ) (improve existing heating data for a known X-ray tube, or newly estab-
lished heating data of an unknown X-ray tube based on heating data of a similar X-ray tube).
Table 5-2: Functions of the tube data entry screen
NOTE
To make the generator work at all, a tube database at least for tube 1 must exist or
have been selected or created.
5.2.2.2.2 Device
This input screen is used for specifying diagnostic devices and their features connected to the
generator – at least as far as the generator needs this information for error-free operation:
WARNING
The X-ray system is characterized by means of the parameters defined here. Error-
free operation is only possible if these parameters are entered with the utmost care.
False and/or incorrect data may cause serious defects – including damage to the
system.
NOTE
Proper definition of parameters requires possession of the necessary knowledge
about the functionalities of the connected devices and equipment. Thus, only trained
personnel may make these settings.
CAUTION
It is highly recommended that you save any changes made before the implementa-
tion of further settings or before calibration work and send them to the generator:
Save: Menu File Save or Save as …
(see also section 5.2.2.1.2 + 5.2.2.1.3)
Export settings to generators : Menu File Export settings to generator
(see also section 5.2.2.1.5)
A maximum of six workstations can be switched on and corresponding diagnostic devices can be assigned,
whereby any diagnostic device can be assigned to each workstation.
For each workstation a suitable symbol on the control panel software can be assigned. By clicking the sym-
bol a list box appears:
NOTE
Device 0 cannot be switched off. However, all types of workstation can be assigned to this de-
vice.
NOTE
In an X-ray system with several workstations (a maximum of six) these should be numbered in
sequence (e.g. 0, 1, 2 − for three workstations).
The respective numerical values define which connection should be used (Bucky1 … Bucky2).
Device timeout: (default := 2 sec) if, when the exposure button is pressed, the
feedback of the bucky grid is not within the time
defined here, an error message is triggered (error 110). The
exposure is interrupted in this case.
If, when selecting “bucky+dig.”, the device timeout time is set to a value less than
1 sec, the feedback of the bucky
grid is not analysed (bucky grid not available).
NOTE
It is responsibility of the service technician to assign a proper device type in conjunction with
the proper symbol to each workstation (device). Only then can this workstation operate with all
units integrated in it.
5.2.2.2.2.1.3 Selecting the High-Speed Starter
This checkbox must be selected if a high-speed starter is integrated in the GENESIS DT/DTs X-ray genera-
tor and if this high-speed starter is to be used instead of the standard anode start-up.
5.2.2.2.2.1.4 Additional definitions for diagnostic devices
ABC set point (V): automatic brightness control, control set point in volt (default:=2.5 V)
This value must be unequal to zero in order that the analogue automatic
brightness control system starts up.
ABC hysteresis (V): automatic brightness control, control hysteresis in volt (default:=0.2 V)
ABC control kp: automatic brightness control, proportional control factor (0…200)
Pulse length max (ms): (2 ms … 10 ms) – defines the length of the radiation pulse for pulsed
fluoroscopy. The following rules apply:
if the length of the external pulse is longer than the value defined here, the
length of the radiation pulse is limited to the value defined here;
if the length of the external pulse is shorter than the value defined here, the
length of the radiation pulse corresponds to the length of the external pulse.
Frequency max (Hz): (max. 30 Hz) – The frequency of the external pulse is limited to the value defined
here.
5.2.2.2.2.1.5 Assignment and position of X-ray tube assembly to the diagnostic device
Tube: here, the proper tube is assigned to the selected device (workstation).
If there is more than one tube in the system (option), you can choose one of the existing tubes; otherwise
tube 1 must always be chosen.
Position: choice of beam direction of the tube for the selected workstation:
0° downwards (bucky table, tomo table….)
90° to the left/right (bucky wall unit…..)
- - tube positioning detector (TPD) turned off
5.2.2.2.2.1.6 Assignment and setup of dose area measurement to the diagnostic device
Activation: dose area measurement (DAP) is switched on for the selected workstation with
.
Definition type: defines whether the dose area measuring system that is connected is a
system that can also measure and display the dose (necessary for fluoroscopy
systems) in addition to the area dose (necessary for radiographic images).
Resolution: selection of resolution 1mGycm² or 0.1mGycm²
Adjustment [%]: correction value between 70% … 130%
Test: When switched on, the DAP measuring chambers of VACUTEC send a sequence
of approx. 250 pulses (specified in the manual or the measuring chamber) as a
test. This number is to be defined here.
If this number is 0, the test function for the selected measuring chamber is
turned off.
5.2.2.2.2.1.7 Assignment and definition of automatic exposure control to diagnostic device
NOTE
An exact description of how the automatic exposure control has to be set and calibrated is
shown in section 5.2.2.3
Autom. exposure control: here, automatic exposure control for the selected workstation is configured
Fields: 0…3 the number of dominants in the installed automatic expo-
sure control measuring chamber.
Screens: 0…3 the number of different film-screen combinations available in the
system (FFS)
Chamber: information on which generator connector the current measuring chamber is con-
nected to (AEC1 or AEC2)
Screen: settings for the existing film-screen systems;
Dose: cut-off points for screens 1-3 in 1/8 exposure points (EP)
kV corr. [%]: percentage correction of cut-off dose depending on the tube voltage.

analogue or digital interface)
Test after 50 ms: dose test after 50ms exposure duration is switched on. An error message occurs if
the measured value is below expectation.
5.2.2.2.2.1.8 Test and calibration of the automatic exposure control
Pressing the “Test” button sends the parameters set under 5.2.2.2.2.1.7 for an exposure to the generator and
an exposure can be started with the manual button. Measure the relevant data for the calibration of the
automatic exposure control. Then adjust the switch-off dose accordingly.
NOTE
The calibration of the automatic exposure control is carried out with the aid of this function.
WARNING
The “Test” function only sends the parameters temporarily. If these are definitely to be loaded
in the generator, proceed as set out in section 5.2.2.1.5.

WARNING
The exposure parameters must be set as defined in section 5.2.3.1 – Setting expo-
sure parameters, before the menu “Device Setup” is opened. Before the automatic
exposure control is calibrated, it is essential to check if the right exposure parameters
have been set. Incorrect settings of the exposure parameters can lead to false
measuring results and thus to false calibration of the automatic exposure control. In
this case the patient could receive too high a dose during X-ray exposure.
5.2.2.3.3.1 Definitions
Basic definitions have to be made for each automatic exposure control measuring chamber
connected to the system:
Fields:
0…3 Information on how many dominants the integrated auto-
matic exposure control measuring chamber has (standard:
Figure 5-17: Number of 3).
measuring fields per chamber

Three different film/foil speeds are usually programmed in con-
ventional film/foil systems and in storage phosphor systems (CR
systems).
In systems with digital image capturing devices (flat panels, CCD
arrays...) usually only one film/foil speed is programmed.

5.2.2.3.3.2 Characteristic curves of the various AEC measuring chamber technologies (kV-corr.[%])
The sensitivity of the automatic exposure control measuring chamber depends on the technolo-
gy of the measuring chamber:
semiconductor measuring chambers
ionization measuring chambers
analogue or digital interface
NOTE
The characteristic curve for the ionization measuring chamber is preset at the factory
with digital interface (e.g. VACUTEC-Digital) – see Annex A.
It may be necessary to adjust this characteristic curve if using another measuring chamber. For
this purpose a percentage correction of the switch-off dose must be given for a total of 8 tube
voltage support values:
Usually the same percentage correction factor should be entered
for all screens.
Figure 5-24: Entry of the voltage characteristic curves of the AEC measuring chambers
CAUTION
The voltage correction values shown in the table in Annex A were created with the
greatest care. Nonetheless the manufacturer cannot guarantee the accuracy of
these data – they are to be understood as guide values for information purposes.
Particularly, this does not exempt the service technician from his responsibility for
checking and, if necessary, correcting these data in individual cases.
when the calibration for all available FFS (screens) is complete, you must check the side meas-
uring fields:
To do this, first the left and then the right measuring field are collimated. The corresponding
measuring field is then selected as set out in section 5.2.3.1.6:
(L) for the left measuring field
(R) for right measuring field
1
The side measuring fields can be adjusted in a total of 17 steps of /8 exposure points each:
1
Left field corr.: correction value for the left measuring field -8 …0 … +8 in /8 exposure points
1
Right field corr.: correction value for the right measuring field -8 …0 … +8 in /8 exposure points
CAUTION
The calibration of the automatic exposure control must be carried out with great
care. Incorrect calibration can lead to an increased dose for the patient and unusable
X-ray images.
ATTENTION
The correct setting for the automatic exposure control must be performed by the
service technician when the X-ray system is commissioned. It is essential to observe
international and/or national regulations and requirements (especially with regard to
the maximum permissible switch-off dose).
NOTE
To ensure that the automatic exposure control also works perfectly at the highest
blackening setting (+8), the figure entered under “Dose” must not exceed 200 for the
least sensitive film/foil system. If the necessary switch-off dose cannot be achieved
with this value for a correct film blackening, the sensitivity of the measuring chamber
must be adjusted accordingly (see instructions of the corresponding automatic ex-
posure control measuring chamber).
NOTE
When using film/foil material in conjunction with a chemical development system, the
setting of the automatic exposure control must be checked whenever the film/foil ma-
terial is changed and/or the development chemistry must be checked and possibly
readjusted.
NOTE
Possibly inactive test functions (“Starter run”, “H.-Starter run”) can only be used after
the program has established connection with the generator (pressing SET as de-
scribed in section 5.2.1). All other functions can be used at any time.
Clicking on the “Logfile” command in the “Tools” menu brings up the win-
dow presented here. All saved error messages are listed there with the
date, time and error code.
By means of a mouse click one of the errors can be selected. In this way the details of this par-
ticular error message can be displayed:

WARNING
Before exposure parameters are set through this menu and before exposures are al-
lowed to be released it must be ensured that valid tube settings applicable to the
connected tube have been made or loaded (see section 5.2.2.2.1 – Tube 1 / Tube 2).
To set up the generator properly, the setup program has a function which allows for setting vari-
ous exposure parameters and performing appropriate exposures.
Basically, the SETUP program provides the same setting features as the control panel, but
without automatic anatomical selection:
Figure 5-40: Setting screen of automatic exposure control for exposures in the SETUP program
WARNING
The exposure release causes ionizing radiation to be generated and emitted. The
device operator must ensure that all persons in the area, including the operator him-
self/herself, are sufficiently protected from undesired radiation (using radiation pro-
tection and keeping a safe distance).
NOTE
Prior to exposure release using the two-stage hand switch check whether
parameters have really been set, that are necessary and correct for the intended test
X-ray.
The exposure release is done via a two-stage hand switch connected to the central unit:
Activities
Step 1: Starting cathode heating
Starting the preparation: Starting the rotating anode
Bucky is moved to the starting position (if enabled)
Measuring chamber of the automatic exposure control
is reset to zero (if enabled)
Step 2: Exposure is starting
Starting the exposure: A short acoustic signal indicates the end of exposure
On completion of the exposure all systems are returned
to their home positions
The effectively measured exposure parameters are dis-
played (see Figure below).

NOTE
Not all errors can be reset using this software reset button. Depending on the severi-
ty of the error, it may be necessary to restart the generator and the setup tool.
WARNING
Before exposure parameters are set through this menu and before exposures are al-
lowed to be released it must be ensured that valid tube settings applicable to the
connected tube have been made or loaded (see section 5.2.2.2.1 – Tube 1 / Tube 2).
Like the exposure functions, the fluoroscopy functions can also be tested with the setup pro-
gram.
The corresponding settings can be made in a manner similar to that described above:
Timer reset
Table 5-31: Functions of the timer
Fluoroscopy is turned on with the foot switch connected to the central unit of the generator.
NOTE
Not all errors can be reset using this software reset button. Depending on the severi-
ty of the error, it may be necessary to restart the generator and the setup tool.
All values for “Timeout settings” must be set to 0. Confirm by clicking on “OK”.
A new user is defined by clicking on “Add”. For this purpose the user name and the
password should be used in accordance with section 5.3.3.
7. Provide directory:
In the same menu window, click on “Shared Folder” and then on “Add” to set up a
folder of the computer used for use by the FTP service. To be used with the
GENESIS DT X-ray generator, the program directory “C:\Genesis DT” must be
made available. The access rights must be adjusted according to your requirements
(see figure 5-49 below).
NOTE
Not all the files necessarily have to exist. All or some of the files GEN50RFT_1.XML”,
“GENRFT_2.XML”, “GENRFT_11.XML” or “GENRFT_14.XML” may be missing.
With this data structure, the exposure data from the last 30 (31) working days are available as
the maximum.
The exposure files are ASCII file(s), which are formatted in an XML file format. They always
have the ".xml" extension (because under Windows this extension is opened by default with a
browser and the file is displayed in human-readable form).

Nesting level: 4
Superordinate structure: <Gen50RFT>
Application: 1x, compulsory
Contents: String: 1 character
Description: Checksum is calculated (according to ISO7064_Mod37_2)
The checksum consists of an ACII character ['0 '.. '9' | 'A' .. 'Z' | '*']. The checksum is calculated
using the algorithm ISO7064 Mod 37,2 (see example).
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Calculates check digit: the following PASCAL language function ISOmod37_2
calculates and/or validates the ISO 7064 Mod 37,2 pure check character:
Test should produce 'H' . Open: showmessage(ISOmod37_2('X600097123456',13));
Parameter: CheckString == String from which the checksum is calculated
LenStr == Number of CheckString characters to be checked
Return: Check digit
Call: result := ISOmod37_2('X600097123456');

If the terminal is not in active exposure mode or in set-up mode, the parameter file is
4
loaded; otherwise the process continues with No. 3.
If a valid procedure code (index) is detected in the parameter file, the new exposure
5
parameters are applied; otherwise the process continues with No. 3.
6 The parameter file is deleted. The terminal now shows the selected exposure program.
7 The generator is ready to carry out the exposure.
When the exposure has been completed successfully, it is possible to start again from
8
step No. 1.
Table 5-38: Process flow data transfer HOST Generator
NOTE
To ensure that this function can work without errors, it is essential that the same
exposure programs are saved with the same index number both in the anatomic
program on the higher-level host system and also in the anatomic program of the
generator control panel. The system integrator is responsible for ensuring this.
6 Scheduled maintenance
ATTENTION
The procedures described below must be observed under all circumstances.
Otherwise, the manufacturer cannot guarantee error-free and smooth operation of
the X-ray generator.
WARNING
Before cleaning, switch off the generator and the control panel.
NOTE
Never use organic solvents, solvent-based cleaners or abrasive cleaners to clean
the generator casing and the control panel.
NOTE
Always clean the generator and the control panel with a moist (not wet) cloth.
CAUTION
Ensure that no liquids can penetrate the generator or the control panel. Penetrating
liquids could cause short circuits and thus damage the device.
CAUTION
Do not spray the generator under any circumstances.
6.2 Disinfection
CAUTION
The generator and the control panel must be disinfected by wiping only. This device
is not intended for use in areas which require intense disinfection.
To disinfect the generator use product with a hypochlorite concentration of not more than 3 to
5%, and additionally diluted with water with a ratio of 50:50.
Spray or moisten a lint-free cloth with the diluted disinfectant. The cloth must be moist, not wet.
ATTENTION
Disinfection by spraying is not recommended because the disinfectant may pene-
trate the X-ray generator.
NOTE
Disinfection methods must comply with legal disinfection guidelines and explosion
protection requirements.
ATTENTION
If disinfectants are used that form explosive gas mixtures, you must ensure that the-
se gases have evaporated before the device is switched on again.
CAUTION
If the disinfection is carried out by fumigation, the generator and the control panel
must be carefully covered with foil before fumigation. Ensure that the generator is
switched off and has cooled down. The foil cover must be removed only when the
disinfectant mist has settled.
ATTENTION
Inspections must be carried out by a professional who has technical qualifications
and is approved by the regulators.
WARNING
The generator must not continue to be operated under any circumstances, if any ir-
regularities were found during the functional tests or inspections described above.
7 Servicing
CAUTION
Any service work carried out on this generator must be done exclusively by a
technician with adequate qualifications. It is the only way to ensure that the
generator is working properly.
Do not use any other transformer oils. The oil can be purchased from Josef Betschart AG.
