GUIDELINES FOR RESEARCH PROJECT OF BBA 3RD YEAR

1. Each student will be required to prepare at least 3 copies of the project report in the
recommended format and submit 1st copy to the respective faculty guide individually; 2 nd
copy to the office and 3rd copy will be kept by the student himself / herself.
2. The cover page of the report should be on the lines of the prescribed format (Annexure-I) and
no deviations shall be acceptable whatsoever.
3. The size of the report would depend on the volume & extent of project work done and could
be anywhere from 60 to 100 pages (upper limit tentative) & should be hard bound.
4. The report shall be accepted in the office only when it has been certified by the concerned
project guide that the candidate has done his / her project under the project guide’s
supervision. (Annexure-II).
5. The font used throughout the report should be Times New Roman and the font sizes of the
content text should be size 12, sub heading should be size 13 and the main heading should be
size 14. The text should be double spaced, fully justified on both sides, 1” margin on all sides
except on the left side where it should be 1.2” to facilitate binding.
6. The report text should be devoid of all hyperlinks / superscripts / underlined material and
should be consistent throughout. The students are encouraged to do authentic research rather
than copying from the internet / websites. The secondary sources in any format in the report
(Tables, Charts, Researches by authors etc) should credit the author or source from where it
has been taken.
7. The page numbering should start from the Introduction Chapter onwards. The initial pages
before the Introduction chapter should carry separate numbering which should be in Roman
numerals.
8. The students should make sure that the objectives framed for the research project undertaken
should be commensurate with the data analysis / findings / suggestions in the report.
9. The students should make an effort to generate / use the latest statistical / primary / secondary
data for their research work and not use outdated / obsolete data.
REPORT STRUCTURE

1. Title page (Annexure-I)


2. Introductory pages:
 Certificate by Guide (Annexure-II)
 Declaration by the Candidate (Annexure-III)
 Acknowledgement(s)
 Table of Contents
 List of Tables / Figures / Abbreviations used etc (along with page numbers)
3. Executive Summary: This includes the summarization / précis of the entire project in around
2-3 pages.

CHAPTERISATION SCHEMATIC

1. Introduction to the Organisation / Industry: This section should contain:


a. Introduction to the Industry
b. Introduction to the Organisation / Products / Services (whatever is applicable)
2. Review of Literature: This section should discuss the previous researches carried out on the
topic / study area (in chronological order).
3. Rationale of the Study: Based upon the Review of Literature
a. Background of the problem task undertaken (i.e. how & why the project was selected)
b. Need for the study
4. Objective(s) of the study: This section should contain:
a. The Main Objective to be accomplished through the research project
b. Specific Objectives i.e. what all is needed in order to achieve the main objective.
5. Research Methodology: This section would include the approach to the research undertaken
– Scope, Sample Unit (if any), Sample Size (if any), Method of data collection, Instruments
used, Tools & techniques of analysis, Limitations of study.
6. Data Analysis & Interpretation: This part can be covered in more than one chapter,
depending upon the coverage of the study (Student should try to make use of the relevant
management techniques / skills / policies; data presentation and statistical analysis in this
part)
7. Major Findings: This section should contain the key findings and outcomes of the research.
8. Recommendations / Suggestions: These should be based on the usefulness of the research,
applicability in the industry, in decision making, in system development and so forth.
9. Appendices: Should include Questionnaires (if any) etc.
10. References / Bibliography: Should be presented in the proper Format as depicted below:
a. For Books:
Author(s) (Surname, First Name) (Year); Book Name, Publisher, Place of
Publication.
b. For Journals / Magazines / Newspapers:
Author(s) (Surname, First Name) (Year); “Title of the Article”, Journal / Magazine
Name, Vol-, Issue-, No.-, Month-, pp – (pages referred).
c. Web Pages: Full URLs of the web page (including the domain name & ending with
*.org / .htm / .html and so forth) including Date of Retrieval.

VIVA-VOCE:
The students will be judged on their project report on the basis of an Expert Evaluation (50 marks)
and a Viva-voce (50 marks). Viva-voce of the project report shall have the following components
amongst others:
 Rationale of the project
 Knowledge Quotient vis-à-vis Acquaintance, Comprehension, Facts, Data Analysis and such
related issues.
 Key Findings & Suggestions / Recommendations.
 Query handling
 It is imperative for the candidate to dress formally on the day of his / her Viva.
