Time: 3 Hours Set A Maximum Marks: 80

General Instructions:
 This Question Paper has 5 Sections A, B, C, D, and E.
 Section A has 20 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) carrying 1 mark each.
 Section B has 5 Short Answer-I (SA-I) type questions carrying 2 marks each.
 Section C has 6 Short Answer-II (SA-II) type questions carrying 3 marks each.
 Section D has 4 Long Answer (LA) type questions carrying 5 marks each.
 Section E has 3 Case Based integrated units of assessment (4 marks each) with sub-parts of the values of 1, 1 and 2
marks each respectively.
 All questions are compulsory. However, an internal choice in 2 questions of 2 marks, 2 questions of 3 marks and 2
questions of 5 marks has been provided. An internal choice has been provided in the 2 marks questions of section E.
 Draw neat figures wherever required. Take π =22/7 wherever required, if not stated.

that AD = AC (see Fig.3). Show that ∠ DBC is a right angle.

28 Factorise 2𝑥 − 5𝑥 − 23𝑥 − 10.

a. If a, b, c are all non-zero and 𝑎 + 𝑏 + 𝑐 = 0, prove that + + =3.


b. Expand (2𝑥 − 3𝑦) .

29 The triangular side walls of a flyover have been used for advertisements. The sides of the walls are 41 m,
40 m and 9 m. The advertisements yield an earning of ₹ 2000 per m2 a year. A company hired one of its
walls for 6 months. How much rent did it pay?
30 If two parallel lines are intersected by a transversal, prove that the bisectors of
the two pairs of interior angles enclose a rectangle.
Or
In figure, the sides AB and AC of ΔABC are produced to points E and D
respectively. If bisectors BO and CO of ∠ CBE and ∠ BCD respectively meet at
point O, then prove that ∠ BOC = 90° – ∠𝐵𝐴𝐶.

34 ABCD is a rhombus and P, Q, R and S are the mid-points of the sides AB, BC, CD and DA respectively.
Show that the quadrilateral PQRS is a rectangle.

35 If two circles intersect at two points, prove that their centres lie on the perpendicular bisector of the common
chord.
Or
Three girls Reshma, Salma and Mandip are playing a game by standing on a circle of radius 5m drawn in a
park. Reshma throws a ball to Salma, Salma to Mandip, Mandip to Reshma. If the distance between Reshma
and Salma and between Salma and Mandip is 6m each, what is the distance between Reshma and Mandip?

Section E
Case-study based questions are compulsory.
36 Harman bought a gift for his friend. The gift was to be packed in a cuboidal box as shown above.
Now answer the following questions based on the above
information.
a. What is the volume of the box?
b. What is the total area of the faces ABQP and ADSP?
Write the type of polynomial so formed.
Or
What is the perimeter of the base of the box (DCRS)?
Write the type of polynomial so formed.
C. If value of 𝑥 = 6, then find the volume of the box.

37 Dinesh has to draw a triangle in which smallest angles is one-third of the largest angle. The remaining
angle is equal to the difference of the largest angle and the smallest angle.
Kalpana is also drawing another triangle in which the ratio of the angles is 1 : 2 : 3.
Now answer the following questions, based on the above information.
a. What is the sum of the acute angles in a right-angled triangle?
b. Find the measure of all the angles of the triangle to be drawn by Dinesh.
Or
Find the measure of all the angles of the triangle drawn by Kalpana.
c. Are the triangles drawn by Dinesh and Kalpana congruent? Justify.

38 Mathematics teacher of a school took her 10th standard students to show Red fort. It was a part of their
Educational trip. The teacher had interest in history as well. She
narrated the facts of Red fort to students. Then the teacher said that in
this monument one can find combination of solid figures. There are 2
pillars which are cylindrical in shape. Also 2 domes at the corners
which are hemispherical.7 smaller domes at the centre. Flag hoisting
ceremony on Independence Day takes place near these domes.
a. Write the formula to find the total surface area of a hemisphere.
b. How much cloth material will be required to cover 2 big
domes each of radius 2.5 metres?
Or
Find the volume of material required for the construction of one hemispherical dome base radius 1.4 m.
c. What is the ratio of sum of volumes of two hemispheres of radius 1 m each to the volume of a
sphere of radius 2 m?
