Introduction
Most people are aware of the harmful effects of smoking. health. But do kids actually

comprehend the dangers of smoking? Nicotine, a highly addictive substance found in tobacco,

making it challenging for smokers to quit. Cigarette products also include several dangerous and

hazardous compounds that cause disease and early death (Harry 2005).

Smoking causes strokes and heart attacks, as well as It is a slow method of passing away.

The slowly rots lungs. Three (3) of every four (4) heart disease-related deaths in younger persons

are brought on by smoking. Smoking cigarettes while pregnant increases the chance of an

abortion, premature birth, and low birth weight. Ten (10) people die in the Philippines every day

from cancer brought on by smoking, according to reports. Thousands of individuals worldwide

pass away from diseases brought on by cigarette smoking each year (Ordinance NO. 1S. 2012).

In their 2011 investigation, Solas et al. discovered that young people, especially adolescent

females, are at danger for starting to smoke. Smoking cigarettes throughout one's lifetime

reduces lifespan by 10 years.

On the other hand, smokers frequently claim that their habit helps them focus and keeps

them alert and relaxed. According to some researches, smoking tobacco has a soothing impact

simply by reducing the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal (New Book of Knowledge, 2006).

The Philippines passed a law banning smoking in 2003. places that smoke in the public are

in the enclosed. In most public spaces, with the exception of healthcare and educational

establishments, smoking is authorized. A smoke-free law was put in place for government

buildings, buses, bus depots, restaurants, gyms, parks, hospitals, elevators, and stairwells in

Manila in July 2011. Las Pias, California, approved a smoke-free law that prohibits government
offices and numerous public locations. While being stricter than the federal law, the municipal

code continues to exempt numerous private companies and all hospitality establishments

(Rillorta, 2011).
