GUJARAT
- Language:
Gujarati is mostly spoken being the official and native language, even Gujarati has variations
like the Kutchi Gujarati (from Kutch), Surti Gujarati (from Surat), Kathiyawadi Gujarati (from
Rajkot), Amdavadi Gujarati (from Ahemdabad) and many more. Apart from gujarati, many
other languages like hindi, English, Urdu, Punjabi, Marwari, Rajasthani and many other
languages are spoken.
- Literature:
coming to literature, some well known laureates of Gujarati literature are Narsinh Mehta,
Premanand Bhatt, Mirabai and many more. A notable contribution to the gujarati language
literature also came from the Swaminarayan paramhanso, like Brahmanand, Premanand,
with prose like Vachanamrut and poetry in the form of bhajans.
- Food:
Coming to food, yeh kahawat toh suni hi hogi, “ek dakiya bhi Gujaratiyo ke ghar se bhuka
nahi jata”, so Gujaratis are foodies or bon vivants and unke hatho ka khana is always
laajawab! Its primarily Vegetarian. The typical Gujarati Thaali primarily consists of rotli or
bhakhri, Sabji called shaak in gujarati, dal-bhat (dal rice in English) or kadhi khichdi (curry
and stew or cereal as in English), even a warm snack also called a farsaan like khaman
dhokla, samosa, fafda, or patra and many more, then salad (called as kachumber in gujarati),
when it comes to sweets, there are rich varieties of sweets like Jalebi, Mohanthal, doodhpak,
basundi, laapsi even their thaali is incomplete without athanu and chhundo (typically called
pickle in English). All this is believed to be a must have in their daily meals.
- Culture, Tradition, Festivals and Music:
when it comes to Gujju folk music, it is a hereditary profession of Barots, Gadhvis and
Charan communities. Some of the re knowned Gujju music artists are Jigardan Gadhvi,
Sachin-Jigar, Amit Trivedi, Geeta Rabari, Falguni Pathak, Atul Purohit, Kinjal Dave and many
more.
- Festivals:
agar tame Gujarat ma chho toh har divas ek celebration che. If you’re in Gujarat, everyday is
a celebration. Often termed as land of festivities, people in Gujarat surely know how to live
their life to the fullest. The beauty of the state's rich culture and traditions is showcased
most flawlessly through the many festivals celebrated here all year round.
- Navratri : Three things sum up Navratri; Dandiya, Garba and lots of fun. Navratri is a
festival of nine nights and on the tenth day, Goddess Durga, who is worshipped
throughout the nine days, is immersed in holy water after performing a pooja. Loud
music, exciting competitions, flea markets and exhibitions, delicacies that are a treat for
your tongue and large crowds dressed in the most beautiful, most lively clothes is what
you will witness during Navratri in Gujarat.
- Rann Utsav: : Rann Utsav is celebrated at The Great Rann Of Kutch, a salt marsh
located in the Thar Desert. Enthralling music, authentic handcrafted items, Bandini
sarees and traditional ornaments are somethings that you will experience on the
dazzling white sand. The festival reflects the Gujarati folk culture in its purest form.
Experiment with the delicious cuisine of Gujarat while staying in tents in the desert for
a heavenly experience.
- Uttarayan: what I just have to say is this festival is incomplete without Kites, Chal
Lapet, Kai po Che, Undhiyu a traditional dish and fafda Jalebis even the loud DJ music
systems. The sky fills up with colourful kites of all shapes and sizes, and people engross
in fun-filled competitions wherein the goal is to cut others' kites while keeping your
own in the sky for the longest time possible.
the last festival but not the least iis Janmasthami so Janmashtami celebrates Lord
Krishna's birth in an exhilarating manner. You must have seen a group of people
forming a human pyramid, and then one amongst them climbs to the top to break the
Dahi handi and the crowd cheers. This famous religious festival in Gujarat is known for
its Dahi handi ceremony, devotional singing, dances and feeding Lord Krishna his
favourite food, butter. And this year I’d like to share that I m honoured to share my
birthday with lord Krishna. This are just a very few things bout our state Gujarat, we’ve
got to know more and with this I’d like to say jai jai garvi Gujarat, maara dil ma dhadke
che Gujarat. Thank You!!
