TERM 1 PARENT/TEACHER/STUDENT INTERVIEWS (Yrs 1-10)

Dear Parents/Carers,

As a College community, we endeavour to work in partnership with parents/carers in order to achieve the best
possible outcomes for students. As part of that partnership it is important that you, as parents/carers, are kept
informed about the progress of your child. Upon enrolment at St Francis Catholic College every family was asked to
commit to a minimum of two formal parent/teacher/student interviews per year. Please note that the student must
be present at the interview. These interviews are for Year 1 to Year 10. Interviews for Year 11 and 12 students will be
held in early Term 2 and information will follow soon.

These interviews will be held online as ZOOM meetings between the teacher/s, parent/s and student. Students are
required to wear either their College uniform or Sports uniform for these interviews.

Please find below details of these interviews, how to make a booking and how to access the interviews online. There
are some interviews that need to sit outside of these times due to staff commitments.

As Friday 24th March is a Parent/Teacher/Student interview day there will be NO school for students on this day.

HOW TO MAKE A BOOKING

Bookings can be made in the COMPASS APP under ‘Conferences’ from TOMORROW (Tuesday 14th March) from
7pm until Monday 20th March at 4pm. Please note, this format may look different when accessing COMPASS on a
computer.

Your child’s teachers will automatically appear. Simply click on the teachers listed and you will see their available time
slots to select. Once you have selected an appropriate time the box colour will change to ‘green’. This means your
booking has been confirmed.
NOTE: YEAR 5 & 6 PARENTS ONLY - If your child is taught by one teacher for more than two subjects you will ONLY be
able to select two time slots. During these times you will be able to discuss all subjects taught by the teacher.
Example: Mrs Kelleher teaches Year 5B English, Religion and HSIE. As a parent you will book two times back-to-back
(where possible) but during this time you will discuss all three subjects.

How to access the interviews online

Step 1: On the first morning of the interviews the College will send a COMPASS alert with all the teachers zoom links.
Click the ZOOM link for the first teacher you are scheduled to meet with. This will take you directly to the
meeting.

Step 2: Depending on your browser, you may be prompted to allow zoom.us to open. Please do so if prompted.

Step 3: Parents and students will sit in a ‘Waiting Room’ until the teacher admits you into the meeting.
Parents/Students will need to unmute themselves and turn the video on when they enter the
meeting.

Step 4: Meetings will be a maximum of 10 minutes in duration for Years 1-4 and 5 minutes duration for Years
5-10. We will need to reschedule interviews running overtime to ensure we can stick to our
schedule for all parents. Please do not wait in the waiting room if you have missed your scheduled booking.

Repeat Step 1 for your meeting with the next teacher.

Advice for Parents/Carers

The following advice will help ensure a successful ZOOM Meeting for all participants:
● Ensure that your device has the appropriate software to run ZOOM and please test ZOOM on the device.
● Ensure that your device is well charged.
● Please identify who you are on the ZOOM platform by using your child’s surname as your login name.
● At the allocated time, please ensure that you and your child are in a quiet area with minimal background
noise and are ready for the meeting.
● Lighting – ensure that lighting is sufficient, and you are easily visible.
● Ensure that all in the conference are visible in the picture.
● When you log into the ZOOM link, you should automatically go into the ‘waiting room’. The message will tell
you that the host will admit you into the meeting. The SFCC staff member, at the allocated time, will accept
you into the meeting.

Please be aware that interview times will be strictly adhered to as required by the nature of this online process.

If you are experiencing any difficulties with technology, or there are other problems and your interview is affected or
doesn’t go ahead, please contact the class teacher via email and we will be able to rearrange a meeting for a later
date that suits all parties.

Kind regards,

Mrs Rita Agostino
