Complex Inbound Process in EWM Using POSC Approach

This document describes the configuration steps to set up a complex inbound process in SAP EWM using process-oriented storage. It involves defining doors, bins, storage types, work centers, control indicators, number ranges, activities and attributes to enable the inbound receipt of materials from purchase orders, their deconsolidation into individual units, and subsequent putaway into final storage locations. The end-to-end process is validated by running a sample purchase order through goods receipt, deconsolidation and putaway.

Complex inbound process in EWM using POSC approach

Scenario- I have defined four inbound doors for the unloading purpose. I have defined four bins in the
inbound staging area. I have defined a deconsolidation work center for the unpacking and repacking
activity. I have defined three products in the purchase order. I have defined STSS criteria for the three
products. I have defined door determination in the system.

Determination of deconsolidation

Creating three materials using MM01, extending storage location 199S using MMSC and extending EWM
views using /n/scwm/mat1

Creating storage type for door

4 doors created in the form of bins using /n/scwm/ls01

Similarly,9030-DOOR-INB-02, 9030-DOOR-INB-03 and 9030-DOOR-INB-04.

Creating storage type for inbound staging area

4 inbound storage staging area defined against each doors using /n/scwm/ls01

Storage type for deconsolidation area

Creating a bin for deconsolidation area

Path

7|P ag e
Specify work center layout

Here, we are basically defining that what are the activities we can perform at deconsolidation work
center and what are the views that should be visible.

Define work center

8|P ag e
Assign deconsolidation storage bin to deconsolidation work center using /n/scwm/tworkst

18 | P a g e
Assign WPT to process oriented storage control

Define control indicators for determining warehouse process types

19 | P a g e
Determine warehouse process type

Assign control indicators for determining warehouse process types to all the three material masters

20 | P a g e
Similarly for other two materials.

Assigning external step as IB02 and repack WPT as 3040

21 | P a g e
Path

22 | P a g e
Define storage bin types

23 | P a g e
Assign bin types to bin structures

Creating bins using /n/scwm/ls10

24 | P a g e
Note- Here, we can also download the template for bins using /n/scwm/mon and give it to the end user
to manually assign different bin types for different bins. We will upload this excel file later in the system.

25 | P a g e
Path

26 | P a g e
Define storage type search sequence for putaway

Assign storage types to storage type search sequence

27 | P a g e
Define putaway control indicator

Specify storage type search sequence for putaway

Optimize access strategy for storage type search-putaway

28 | P a g e
Assign putaway control indicator in the product master using /n/scwm/mat1

29 | P a g e
30 | P a g e
Path

Define number range intervals for consolidation group

Path

Assign number range intervals to consolidation groups

Path

32 | P a g e
Define activities for activity area

Define activity areas

It is suggested to keep the same name for activity area as storage type name.

33 | P a g e
Assign storage bins to activity areas

Define sort sequence for activity areas

34 | P a g e
Checking bins using /n/scwm/mon

Bin sorting using /n/scwm/sbst

Define staging areas

Define staging area and door determination groups

Define warehouse door

Assign staging area/door determination group to door

39 | P a g e
Assign staging area to warehouse door

Assign door determination group to each of the three material masters

Staging area and door determination (inbound) using /n/scwm/stadet_in

40 | P a g e
Access sequence to staging area and door determination using /n/scwm/stadet_ass

Assign warehouse door to the door storage bin and to supply chain unit using the t-
code:/SCWM/DOOR_SCU.

End to End scenario run

Creating a purchase order using ME21N

Enter all the above three materials in the PO with the quantities.

41 | P a g e
Creating inbound delivery using VL31N

Packing activity and saving the inbound delivery

42 | P a g e
43 | P a g e
Checking inbound delivery using /n/scwm/prdi

44 | P a g e
Check and verify that goods movement bin must in same in all the three items

System determines door1 as per the door determination criteria and suggested first bin of inbound
staging area for HU transfer

Creating warehouse task using /n/scwm/mon against the inbound delivery number

45 | P a g e
System created three warehouse task and one warehouse request

Confirming warehouse task

46 | P a g e
System created many warehouse tasks after this step

3 warehouse tasks for final putaway, one warehouse task for movement of HU from inbound staging
area to deconsolidation area

HU lies at inbound staging area

Confirm the warehouse task that represents movement of HU from inbound staging area to
deconsolidation area

Status C means confirmed, blank means to be confirmed and B means waiting.

After confirmation

47 | P a g e
Performing activities at deconsolidation work center using /n/scwm/dcons

Enter source HU number and other details and execute

Select all the warehouse task one by one, enter packing material and execute.

Here, basically we are creating three HU for each of the three products from one big HU received from
vendor at deconsolidation work center

48 | P a g e
Three HU created with 6 number series

Close all the three HU after unpacking

Unpacking and repacking completed

49 | P a g e
Confirm all the three pending warehouse tasks for final putaway

After confirmation

50 | P a g e
Checking available stock in warehouse monitor (/n/scwm/mon)

For one of the line item, handling unit is missing because MEZG storage type is not handling unit
managed in the confiuration.
