STUDENT’S ON-THE-JOB TRAINING

DAILY REPORT OF ACTIVITIES

Name of Trainee: RIVERA, Troy Phillippe C. Company: Mapua University

Class Schedule: Monday to Friday | 8am – 5pm Professor: Edward B.O. Ang

Note: The trainee should give a brief but clear report on the task performed, its purpose and how it is
accomplished. Also, indicate the machines, equipment, tools and materials used, if any. Practice Safety.

Date: October 3, 2022 For this day I was tasked by Sir Umali to record all thesis student groups that were
Time In: 8am currently able to defend their thesis this term. This record contains both thesis 1
Time Out: 5pm proposal defense and thesis 2 final defense. This record is also subjected to change
Hour Spent: 9 as some forms are still not submitted by some groups in the list and some of these
groups did not answer the grouping form, I sent a couple of weeks back that
Certified Correct by:

Edward B.O. Ang etc. I proceeded to contact some of these groups to answer the grouping form so
I can completely record their necessary information in my excel file.
Supervisor/Trainer :

Professor Ricky D.
Umali

Sir Umali only gave me this image of the student groups that I have to record, I
have no access to these files so I do not have the complete names and other
information needed in making the recorded list so I then proceeded to ask Sir
Umali to clarify how I should make the record list. While waiting for Sir Umali’s
reply I then proceeded in answering some student concerns about the necessary
forms to pass in the respective thesis courses. I was not instructed to proceed in
re-editing the files that needed revision in the thesis courses and was only
instructed to categorize the forms and files that needed and did not need to be re-
edited. I have saved those forms and files in my computer from the MME thesis
website just in case Sir Umali needs back-up for those forms and files.
After receiving Sir Umali’s reply and further instructions I then proceeded making
a new sheet in my excel file (MME THESIS) where the student groups that were
able to defend their thesis proposal or their thesis final defense were recorded. As
some of these groups were not able to answer the grouping form I disseminated
in the Thesis group chats, I left some in the list blank and were only able to fill in
their surnames. I then proceeded into finding some of these students in teams to
instruct them in filling up the grouping forms. As no further tasks were given to
me at this day, I continued monitoring the chats waiting for the students’ reply
and answering some students concerns.

Date: October 4, 2022 For this day I continued in answering some student concerns regarding the forms
Time In: 8am and guidelines they needed to follow. As some forms are in pdf form, re-editing or
Time Out: 5pm filling up these forms were confusing and some of these students were asking me
Hour Spent: 9 whether they needed to ask their advisers to fill some forms from them. I then
proceeded to give them the link for the MME thesis website as it contains the
Certified Correct by:
Edward B.O. Ang guidelines as to how to proceed in the respective thesis courses, I also consulted
Sir Umali about some missing information and instructions in the process flow in
the MME thesis website.

Umali
While I was messaging Sir Umali, I was answering some of my fellow students
concerns regarding the deadlines and other steps they needed to do in doing their
respective thesis courses. While doing these tasks I was looking at the excel file
that I made and decided to further categorize the groupings and update any
groups that may have been added in the answered forms. I then marked those
groups in the record for those who were able to defend and those categorize all
in the list whether the groups have one (1), two (2), three (3), or four (4) members
to help to able to help them when they intend to add more members in their
groups.

I also made separated sheets that categorizes theses groups in the thesis course
they are taking, whether they are in thesis 1, thesis 2 (Old curriculum), or thesis 2
(Final defense). In total I made about four (4) separate sheets categorizing the
groups and even though some contents in the MME thesis became redundant, I
believe it is necessary to be able to interpret the excel I made more easily for Sir
Umali’s and my convenience. As no further tasks were given to me at this day, I
proceeded to double check my excel to see if there are some mistakes I made.

Date: October 5, 2022 For this day I was task in doing three (3) Power point presentations about RA
Time In: 8am 11285, RA 9513, and power point presentation about procedures in setting up A
Time Out: 5pm Solar PV business. The first power point is about Republic Act. No 11285 which is
Hour Spent: 9 the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act. The goal of the Energy Efficiency and
Conservation Act (Republic Act No. 11285) is to institutionalize energy efficiency

environmental protection. All energy users must make an effort to use all available

energy resources wisely and effectively in accordance with this Act's guiding
principles.

Before proceeding in making the Power point presentation, I proceeded in doing

my research regarding the Republic Act to be able to understand and convey
properly what is needed in the presentation. I intend to use Canva again as it offers
more variety in power point layouts, fonts, and style which I think is necessary in
making a good power point presentation. Most sources I was able to find came
from the official DOE (Department of Energy) website, so I was confident in the
sources’ eligibility.
After gathering all necessary data, making a solid outline, and choosing the right
format and style of the power point, I proceeded in writing the contents. The
overall contents of the power point summarize the purpose of the act, its
highlights which explains most of the sections of stipulated in the act, the benefits
and opportunities provided by the act, the involved government and non-
government organizations involved in the act, and the references that I have used
in making the power point. No further tasks were given to me at this day so I
proceeded to submit this power point to Sir Umali and wait for his response while
also rechecking the power point for minor and major mistakes that I may have
possibly made.

Date: October 6, 2022 For this day, I was continued the task of making another power point presentation
Time In: 8am about the Republic Act. No 9513 which is the Renewable Energy Act of 2008. In an
Time Out: 5pm effort to formalize the government's commitment to accelerating the use of

as the "Renewable Energy Act of 2008," was codified in December 2008. This

Supervisor/Trainer development strategy must include renewable energy since it is crucial to solving
issues like climate change, energy security, and access to electricity.
Professor Ricky D.
Umali
The State is required by this law to expedite the exploration and development of
renewable energy resources in order to achieve energy independence, to
institutionalize the development of national and local capabilities in order to
increase the use of RE, to promote the development and utilization of RE resources
as tools to effectively prevent or reduce harmful emissions, and to establish the
necessary infrastructure and mechanisms in order to carry out the Act's specified
mandates. The law recommends different renewable energy sources that could
be used, including solar, wind, hydro, biomass, geothermal, and ocean energy. I
did the same procedures I made yesterday with this power point and was able to
research more sources as this act dates back to 2008. More available sources were
made due to other proponents and researchers being able to study and analyze
the specifics and effects of this act in great detail.

I was able to finish the power point presentation at this day and I am satisfied with
my work. The over all contents of the power point presentation are its definition,
its declaration of policy, which was not paraphrased, The Act’s framework, the
salient provisions of the act, other necessary information, the conclusion I was
able to realize from the sources, and the references I used in making the power
point. No further tasks were given to me at this day so I proceeded to submit the
power point to Sir Umali and wait for his comment.

Date: October 7, 2022 For this day, I was continued my doing the task of making the power point
Time In: 8am presentations, this time and last is about how to set up a Solar PV business in the
Time Out: 5pm Philippines. The photovoltaic effect, which is the conversion of light (photons) to

its name. Scientists at Bell Laboratories were the first to take use of this

Edward B.O. Ang phenomenon in 1954 when they developed a silicon solar cell that worked and
could produce an electric current when exposed to light. Soon, solar cells were
being utilized to power clocks, computers, and even space spacecraft. Today,
Supervisor/Trainer photovoltaic systems are being installed on a massive scale to help power the
electric grid. Electricity generated by solar cells is now economically viable in many
places. Through research I was able to find the necessary sources and was able to
conclude that not much difference in present in establishing a Solar PV business
compared to other businesses although there are more regulations and
procedures to be taken as this topic also was connected to the previous power
point presentations that I made which deals with renewable energy sources and
generation.

After finishing the power point presentation, I then proceeded in acting to the task
that Sir Umali made in his announcement. Through his instructions I was receiving
questions as to how the students should proceed. I then consulted Sir Umali
regarding these questions and proceeded to convey his answer to those students.
Sir Umali specifically instructed me to ask whether they have completed a specific
form, so I asked my fellow students to complete that said form first before
informing me of their intention in joining the colloquium.
I was able to do all these tasks today and as no further tasks was given to me, I
continued to monitor my chat applications for other students or groups that
needed attention. I learned through these tasks the responsibilities and the
amount of focus I need in doing these type of work.
