Interdisciplinary Nature of Environmental Science Assignment #1

The document discusses the interdisciplinary nature of environmental science. It states that environmental science draws on multiple disciplines like ecology, geology, meteorology, biology, chemistry, engineering, and physics to study environmental problems and human impacts. It is considered an interdisciplinary field as it combines knowledge from various fields. The goals of environmental science include understanding nature, conserving resources, comprehending environmental impacts, halting deforestation and climate change. Studying environmental science is important to find solutions to issues and ensure future generations can enjoy a healthy environment. problems and human impacts on the environment.

2. What are the different disciplines under Environmental Science?

- Atmospheric Sciences - Ecology
- Environmental Chemistry - Geosciences
- Social Sciences

3. Why is it called an interdisciplinary field?

It involves the combination of multiple academic disciplines into one
activity. It draws knowledge from several other fields like sociology,
anthropology, psychology, economics, etc. It is about creating something by

5) To stop global climate change.
6) Learn how to handle the problems of the environment.

5. Why is it important to study?

We need to study the environment and the sciences applied into it to find
solutions to different environmental issues so that children of tomorrow will still
enjoy the healthy and productive environment we still have now. If man will only
make use of the different discoveries through environmental science, then this
world will definitely be a better place to be called home not only for us but for the

2. Ocean pollution and plastics
3. Drinking water safety and the Flint crisis
4. Deepwater Horizon
These recent changes in the world are part of our environment. From climate
change to deep water horizon. And as we study environmental science we will
each know how to prevent or lessen the impact of these changes.

7. Based on those changes and relation to Environmental Science, how do you

think Environmental Science help us with those changes?
