Read the following text.
Sasha – My Pet Dog
Meet my lovely pet dog, Sasha. My father adopted her when she was a little baby.
She came in like a blessing for our family. She belongs to the breed of Labrador. Sasha
is pure coal black. She comes in as a puppy with her cute little paws and eyes. Sasha is
medium-sized. We couldn’t stop gushing over this beauty. To get maximum time to play with
Sasha, my siblings often fight each other.
As Sasha grows up, she learns various tricks. We train her to follow our instructions. She
even learns a few tricks. We love showing her off to our friends and relatives. I always take
Sasha out as she loves taking a walk on the road.
My siblings and I take on the responsibility of keeping Sasha clean. Every week, we take
turns to bathe and brush her nicely. Sasha shows her gratitude by wagging her short tail in
excitement. Sasha has been with us through ups and downs. We will forever be indebted to her
for her loyalty.
Little did we know that our lives would change forever after her entrance.

We began our visit by observing the children’s activities. They did many things
independently. They prepared meals, cleaned their rooms, washed the dishes and clothes by
themselves. As my friends and I helped the children washing clothes, they were shocked
looking at us. The host told us that they had never seen white people washing clothes
before!
The best impression of the program was being able to meet such incredible people
and lifelong friends. As a solo traveler, I really learned who I am and how to interact and
understand people. I felt that the program enabled me to behave more as locals. I was also
able to explore their life. I had such an amazing moment and I can’t wait to explore the world

family for the last 3 years. He is friendly and playful. Anyway, outsiders often consider him
dangerous. This is due to the wavy coat texture and grey color of his body. He is so alert at

Everyone in my family likes Rocky. We all treat him like a family member. I love to take
Rocky outside for some fresh air and sunshine. Rocky’s hair is super fluffy. That’s what I like
most. I like to wash it and play with it. Rocky will even walk right in the shower with me! He also
loves the blow-dryer and try to bite it at the warm air.
My family cannot even imagine life without him, especially me. I am the youngest child in
my family. My brothers are very busy with their activities, I often stay alone at home but I never
feel lonely. Rocky is always with me. We like having fun together. To me, he is my everything.

The holiday was coming. At first, I did not know how to spend my long holiday. I did not have any
plans because my parents were very busy. My father was finishing his project, while my mother
was taking care of my little brother. He was just six months old. Therefore, he needed her attention
more.
Fortunately, one of my elementary schoolmates, Umar, did not have any plans either. His house is
only two blocks from mine. So, we spent the holiday together. During the holiday, he came to my
house almost every day.
We did a lot of things. On the first day, we rode bicycle and went around the city. We stopped at
some shops and enjoyed window-shopping. On the second day, I taught Umar how to play futsal.
We spent three days just to get him able to dribble well. In the last two days, we visited museums
in our city, Sonobudoyo Museum and Yogyakarta Palace Train Museum. We got new knowledge by
watching the displayed collections.

A volcanic eruption is the release of molten rock, or magma, and volcanic gases through Earth's
crust to the surface. Magma is formed when the earth's mantle melts. It is driven to erupt by
buoyancy because it is lighter than the surrounding rock. Gases within the magma are under great
pressure and force magma upwards. Runny magma erupts through openings or vents in the earth's
crust before flowing onto its surface as lava.
An eruption may last from a few minutes to days. An eruption may be only a discharge of steam
and gases through a small vent or a spectacular explosion that shoots gases and debris into the sky.
The explosiveness of an eruption depends on a great extent of the composition of the molten rock.
Magma high in silica will be more viscous than one low in silica. A high-viscosity magma will tend to
trap dissolved gases. The pressure of the gases can build up to the point where they are released in
a spontaneous explosive eruption. A less viscous magma allows volcanic gases to bubble through
more easily and results in outpourings of lava.
The length of an eruption is described as an eruptive pulse, eruptive phase, or eruptive episode.
An eruptive pulse is a very short event lasting for a few seconds to minutes. An eruption that lasts a
few hours to days and consists of numerous eruptive pulses is called an eruptive phase. Eruptions
that involve repeated pulses and phases over days, months, or years is an eruptive episode.

Long time ago, lived a poor but generous farmer in a village by the side of a forest. One
morning, he took a walk to the lake near his house. He saw something very shiny on the bank
of the lake. He came to the object and took it. It was a beautiful golden hedgehog statue. He
then brought it home.
At night, the farmer had a dream. The statue talked to him, “I will give you everything you
need with one condition to help the needy. Just caress my head and say the spell. There are
two kinds of spells, one is to start your wish and the second is to stop. Just memorize the
spells.” In the next day, the farmer proved it. The farmer caressed the statue‟s head. He said
the spell and asked for rice. Suddenly, rice came out from the mouth of the statue. The rice
kept on flowing out from the statue‟s mouth until the farmer said the spell to stop it. The farmer
became wealthy and it made him more generous.
One day, a greedy man from another village came to the farmer‟s house. He asked the
farmer to lend the statue because of the drought in his village. The farmer agreed and lent the

My laptop is white. Its screen is 14 inch wide. It is a product of the best laptop brand in
USA. It weighs less than a regular laptop does and is only 2 inches thick. It has two USB ports,
audio speakers, and memory card slots built in. It is an everyday laptop that can store enough
data needed by a student like me.
Before my laptop, I had a desktop computer. I love my laptop more than my old desktop
because I can carry it to school or when I travel away from home. I use it mostly for all of my
presentations and assignments as well as for googling things. I also read online novels, listen

One Saturday evening Tony and I were going to visit our friend by riding bicycle. As usual, I
gave him a ride because he didn‟t have bike. Since my bike didn‟t have any back-saddle, he sat
on the front horizontal bar of my bicycle. We passed a quite difficult path to get to our friend‟s
house. It was a slippery and wet gravel path. Although it was wobbling along all the way, we
could manage this rough ride.
Our misfortune started as we passed by a stream. I was going too close to the bank. I didn‟t
realize that the rain had made the ground softer than usual. Suddenly, the soil slid and we were
instantly tumbling head over heels into the stream. We both plunged into one meter-depth dirty
brown water stream. Even though the water prevented us from getting severely injured, we
gulped some of it. It was so horrible. Sadly, we both had few cuts and bruises all over our body.
We tried to get out of the water and pulled our bike out of the stream. Then, we calmed
ourselves down on the side of it for a while. We were definitely in a poor condition to visit anyone
so we decided to go home. Since the wheel of the bicycle was bent out of shape, we couldn‟t ride
it and I had to push it along the way home. From that moment, I promised myself not to carry
anyone on a bicycle anymore.

Milky seas, also called mareel, is a shining phenomenon in the ocean in which large
areas of seawater appear to varying shades of blue. Such occurrences glow brightly enough
at night to be visible from satellites orbiting Earth.
In the 1800s sailors had no understanding and assumed milky sea phenomenon was
caused by something terrible. According to BBC Earth, sailors described it as something that
looks like milk or clouds that stretch for many square miles.
To this day, there is only one documented encounter with the milky sea. In 1985 a
research vessel in Arabian Sea took water samples of the glowing water and found that the
bacteria called Vibrio harveyi was causing the glow on the water‟s surface. Professor Miller
wrote that this bacteria works differently than the dinoflagellates that cause bioluminescence
close to shore. Instead, it is like a light switch turns on in the luminous bacteria when their
population gets large enough at about 100 million individual cells per milliliter of water. The
luminescent glow is concentrated on the surface of the ocean and does not mix evenly
throughout the water column.
Now, milky seas can easily be spotted using artificial satellites that study Earth.
Biologists know that milky seas could be happening in many parts of the oceans all the time,
and using satellites will help them track and monitor these glowing phenomena.

Here‟s how you turn your imagination into a finished design in minutes with Canva.
1. Choose the right dimensions for your design.
To begin, choose your design type from the Canva homepage. These are set to the
optimal dimensions for each graphic, whether it‟s a social media post, flyer, or more.
2. Choose a background.
Choose the right background color. Remember that different colors tell different stories.
If you decide to add background images to your design, make sure that they support
the message of the content. If there's too much going on in the background, it‟s hard to
overlay things like text or illustrations.
3. Add your elements.
Your design might include text, icons, photos, or illustrations. These need to be
combined in a way that is visually appealing. Don‟t overload your design with too many
elements, as it can confuse the visual message of the image. Keep it simple.
4. Choose the right fonts.
The look of your fonts can have a huge impact on your design. Don‟t use more than two
fonts in a design, as too many fonts make a design look “messy”. Pick fonts that look
good together.

I have a BMX bicycle. My father bought me this bicycle for my birthday gift. I was ten
when I got this BMX and I thought it‘s the best gift I‘ve ever had.
Like most BMX, my bicycle has only a single speed. The frame of my BMX is metallic
white. It has two wheels. The tires are half orange and half white, while the rims are
green. It has one black saddle. I also attach a couple of pegs on the front and rear of it.
The rear pegs usually are used when I want to give a ride to my friend.

Last weekend was my unlucky day ever. Many bad things were coming toward me.
When the morning broke in Sunday morning, I woke up and planned to jog around the
neighbourhood. So, I changed my clothes and went to the bathroom to wash my sleepy
face. As I stepped in the bathroom, I landed my foot on soap in the floor and feel down.
A perfect morning for me. Next, I began my jogging and saw my close neighbour,
jogging too. I thought it was a good fortune to omit the gap between us. So, I jogged to
him and say hello. But, how poor of me, it was not him. It just someone I never met
before who looked like to him. I was going home with red cheeks along the way home.
When I got home, the breakfast already settled and I immediately spooned big portion
of rice and ate. After I have done my breakfast, my mother came up and said that the
meal has not ready yet and she said that I may have a stomach ache if I ate it. It was
proven, I had a stomach ache for the next three days.
I passed my weekend lie down on me bed and be served as a queen. That was not
really bad, wasn‘t it?

Once upon a time, there lived a woman commonly called Mbok Randa, he had a foster
child named Jaka Tarub. He was a handsome man. His hobby was hunting.
One day when he was hunting as usual he saw beautiful goddesses taking a bath in the
river. Stunned by their look, his lust drove him to quietly approach the pile of women
clothing left at the riverbank and stole a piece of dress. When the goddess finished their
bath, they found out that one of their dresses went missing. It was belonged to Nawang
Wulan the fairest goddess of them all. They began their frantic search, because the dress

Do you like to wear a T-shirt? Well, I do. One of my favourite T-shirt is the one that I
bought when I was in Senior High School six years ago. At that time, I won a Scrabble
competition, and the prize is money. I bought the T-shirt with this money. I like it because
it is very comfy.
The colour of my favourite T-shirt is yellow. It is made of cotton. Right now, the colour is
not as bright as it used to be, but the picture printed on the front side is still as good as it
was. It is a picture of a microphone known as "Elvis Microphone". The colour of the
picture is grey. The condition of the T-shirt is not as perfect as it was, because right now
there are some holes on the T-shirt. One of the biggest holes is located on my back. My
sister said that I look like a homeless boy every time I wear this T-shirt.

I loved spicy foods so much. I ate them for my breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks in
between them. When I didn’t taste a hint of chili in my food, I wouldn’t even bother
finishing it. Until one week ago, I was almost hospitalized for putting too much chili in my
meatballs.
I was eating a bowl of my favourite meatball and put way too many spoons of sambal into
it. My stomach felt like it was on fire on the next day and I got. I thought my stomach ache
would slowly leave me after I let my food out but it turned out that I had more painful
stomach ache after. I felt like stomach gave up on me and I almost did the same thing. My
dad asked me to check my condition in the hospital but my mom told me to let my food
out one more time. I chose to did what my mom suggested, hoping it would work because
if it wouldn’t, I would have to follow my dad’s suggestion. It took time, but my stomach
ache felt more bearable than before. Finally, after almost an hour, I was completely
stomach ache-free.
My parents went strict on what I am eating after that day. They made me promise myself
not to eat anymore crazy amount of spicy food. Not that I completely quit on eating them,
but I have been reducing my consumption of them. I am still learning not to eat spicy food
anytime I want. It’s hard, but for the sake of my health, I am doing it anyway.

but I have been reducing my consumption of them. I am still learning not to eat spicy food
anytime I want. It’s hard, but for the sake of my health, I am doing it anyway.
I was eating a bowl of my favourite meatball and put way too many spoons of sambal into
it. My stomach felt like it was on fire on the next day and I got diarrhoea. I thought my
stomach ache would slowly leave me after I let my food out but it turned out that I had
more painful stomach ache after. I felt like stomach gave up on me and I almost did the
same thing. My dad asked me to check my condition in the hospital but my mom told me
to let my food out one more time. I chose to did what my mom suggested, hoping it would
work because if it wouldn’t, I would have to follow my dad’s suggestion. It took time, but
my stomach ache felt more bearable than before. Finally, after almost an hour, I was
completely stomach ache-free.

Read the following text.
In the mountains of south-central Peru stands Machu Picchu, a deserted city of the
Inca people. The name Machu Picchu means “old peak” in the language of the Inca. The
dwellings at the site were probably built and occupied from the mid-1400s to the early or
mid-1500s.
Machu Picchu is located about 80 kilometers northwest of the city of Cuzco, which was
the capital of the Inca Empire. It lies between two sharp peaks in the eastern Andes
Mountains, at a height of 2,350 meters. Mountain forest surrounds the site.
Machu Picchu is divided into two sections, one farming and one urban. The farming
section is made up of steplike fields called terraces. The Inca used the terraces for growing
crops such as corn and sweet potatoes. The urban section has plazas, temples, houses, and
a cemetery. They are connected by walkways and thousands of stone steps.
Most of the structures are very well preserved because of the quality of Incan
engineering and stonework. One notable structure is the Temple of the Sun. Once a year
sunlight shines through a window onto the middle of a large stone. This stone was a sort of
calendar. Another famous structure is a pillar known as the Intihuatana. The pillar was
probably used to keep track of the seasons.

Read the following text.
The Boy Who Cried Wolf
Once, there was a boy who became bored when he watched over the village sheep
grazing on the hillside. To entertain himself, he sang out.
“Wolf! Wolf! The wolf is chasing the sheep.”
When the villagers heard the cry, they came running up the hill to drive the wolf
away. But, when they arrived, they saw no wolf. The boy was amused when seeing them
angry.
Later, the shepherd boy cried out once again. To his amusement, he looked on as the
villagers came running up the hill to scare the wolf away.
As they saw no wolf, they said strictly, “Save your frightened cry for when there really
is a wolf.
Later, the boy saw a real wolf sneaking around his flock. Alarmed, he jumped on his
feet and cried out as loud as he could. But, the villagers thought he was fooling them
again, so they didn‟t come to help.
At sunset, the villagers went looking for the boy who hadn‟t returned home with the
sheep. When they went up the hill, they found him weeping.
