UNIT 1

Good Morning, Nurse

Every nurse needs a communication skill. When we communicate to a stranger,


patient, doctor or medical staff, we need some clues and expressions to start our
conversation. In this unit we will be introduced to several common phrases starting with a
conversation and useful expressions.

Useful expression for nuse, example :


 Hello !
 Good morning, Mr. Brown.
 How are you today Mrs. Rachmat ?
 What is your complaint ?
 Have you taken your medicine ?
 Sleep well, Mr. Rahmat !
 I hope you will get well soon
 Can I ask you something ?
 Does it hurt here ?
 How long have you felt like this ?
 Let me examine you, Mrs. Brown.
 Good bye, see you.

Useful expression for patient, example :


 Goog morning, nurse.
 I am fine, and you ?
 I am really unwell
 I feel like vomiting
 Ouch ! It’s very paintul
 Please don’t be angry.

 Thank you, nurse.
In this unit we can find vocabulary related with making the beds in hospital. Beside of
that, we can studied grammar facus for after or before expressions, especially for
question although certainty, can use pattnern Present
Perfect Tanse :

UNIT 2
Admission

Before entering a hospital, a patient is given an admission form. It is used to obtain


information about case history, in order to determine a patient goes to appropriate ward.
After that he / she is received by nurse. Based on a temperature chart, a case history sheet
and care report, the nurse develop a precise report of care. Therefore a nurse needs an
interview.
In this unit, we will be given some useful expressions for an interview. Useful
expression, example :
 Welcome, Mr. Harry.
 I’ll show you your room, now.
 I’d like to ask you some questions
 Have you ever been in a hospital ?
 When was the last time you were hospitalized ?
 Have you had any operasion ?
 Are you allergic to anything ?
 Do you use hearing cid ?
 Do you smoke ? How many cigarettes in a day ?
 Could you tell me about your illness ?
 What medicine have you taken at home ?
 Do you want a religious service ?
We can find vocabulary related with rooms or section in the hospital. Beside of thet,
