Overview A. Overview 2, aboutblans The CIDS operates, controls, monitors and transmits data to different cabin systems. It can also do different system tests and unit tests. The CIDS is the basic cabin management system, which has different cabin-related functions for the flight crew, cabin crew, passengers and maintenance personnel. Function/Description A ‘System Description Ref, Fig. CIDS - System Description - Interface The structure of the CIDS is a controller-line bus-network. The CIDS directors control the system. They have interfaces to other controllers and systems. The network transmits data to and from the connected devices in all cabin areas, The CIDS software controls all operation functions of the CIDS. The hardware and software structures make the CIDS very flexible. With its open structure, it is easy to adapt the CIDS to the applicable aircraft configuration (for example, to change the class configuration of the cabin). The CIDS monitors the operation of its components and subsystems, Many CIDS-related components have Built-In Test Equipment (BITE). If an error or failure occurs in a component, the BITE sends a report to the system. The CIDS also continuously monitors the performance of the system and of the connected equipment and subsystems. It collects and saves operational data. The CIDS Uses this data to send different messages, signals and reports to internal and external display units, announcement units and to external systems. The CIDS has a high redundancy so that only one error or failure does not cause a total loss of the system The CIDS has internal functions and also supplies functions for external systems ON A/C MSN 0457, 0463, 0471, 0493 (© AIRBUS 5.4.5. This system makes it possible for the cockpit and cabin crew to speak to the passengers. The PA system supplies different audio channels to make announcements to passengers in one special area only or in different areas at the same time. The different PA function configurations are hosted in the Cabin Assignment Module (CAM). Cabin interphone The cabin and cockpit crew interphone-system makes it possible to speak to all attendant stations and the cockpit, It is also possible to make different calls in parallel between different interphone stations or to start 2 conference call with two or more stations, Service interphone ‘The service interphone system makes it possible for ground maintenance personnel, cockpit crew and cabin crew to speak to each other when the aircraft is on the ground. To know more about the service interphone system, refer to Ref. SD A350-A-44-19-XX-01222-04CZ-A. Prerecorded Announcement and Music (PRAM) ‘The PRAM function supplies pre-recorded announcements and boarding music to all the loudspeakers in the passenger areas. The Integrated Prerecorded Announcement Module (IPRAM) is the storage module for this data. It is possible to start the pre-recorded announcements or boarding music manually from the related page on the Flight Attendant Panel (FAP). In special conditions (for example, if an emergency decompression occurs), some pre-recorded announcements start automatically. Emergency evacuation signalling The emergency-evacuation signalling system controls the evacuation signalling in all cabin areas and in the cockpit. It is possible to start it from the cockpit or from the cabin control panels during an emergency evacuation. Passenger call The passenger call system controls the start of a passenger call, the visual indication for the passenger and the indication for the cabin crew. Cabin smoke signalling ‘The cabin-smoke signalling function controls the visual and acoustic indications in the cabin, if it receives a smoke warning through Decoder/Encoder Unit (DEU) type B or the Smoke Detection Function (SDF). The CIDS helps the EPSU to communicate between the Cabin Maintenance System CMS and the Flight Warning System (FWS). It also controls the EPSU tests when the applicable command comes from the Onboard Maintenance Terminal (OMT). Multipurpose bus ‘The multipurpose bus supplies different types of data for tests and troubleshooting of the system. The CIDS director collects different data from the connected devices and sends this data at intervals to the Avionics Full Duplex Switched Ethernet (AFDX) network. It starts the emergency lighting system. It has discrete connections with the emergency lighting system. The USB interface supplies an interface for software-controlled devices, for example with a mouse or an external card reader. It is possible to connect @ headset to the headset jack. ‘Above the hardkey panel there are two keys: - CIDS This key shows the CIDS-related functions. - MENU This key shows the application menu page. It is a menu for CIDS- external functions, These functions operate also when the CIDS is not in operation. It is always possible to go back to the CIDS functions. CIDS Functions a aboutblans PA System (a) (b) (©) (a) Operation Ref. Fig. CIDS - Functions - PA System - Operation ‘The cockpit crew makes the announcements with the cockpit handset, the microphone in the oxygen mask or with the boomset. The Push-to-Talk (PTT) button on the cockpit handset starts the announcements. The cockpit handset sends the audio signal directly to the CIDS directors. The boomset sends the audio signal through the Audio Management Unit (AMU) to the CIDS directors. The cabin crew uses the cabin handsets to start the announcements. The cabin handsets send the audio signal through DEUs type B to the CIDS directors. The CIDS director sends all the audio signals through DEUs type A and the PSAs to the related loudspeakers. It also sends the audio signals to the IFE system The announcement stops when the handset is on its bracket or the reset button on the handset is pushed The related AIP shows the dial and status data of the announcement. Priorities The primary priority is the functional priority and the secondary is the source priority. There are different priorities in each category: - Functional priorities The PA functions have different functional priorities. The PA function with high functional priority overrides the PA function with low functional priority. = Source priorities The PA sources have different priorities. A source with high PA priority stops @ PA announcement from a source with low PA priority. You can hear the announcement only from the source with the high priority. Special Conditions To make sure that you can always hear the announcements, the volume automatically increases if: - The cabin pressure is low - The engine is on (high oil pressure) - The top-line data buses have a failure. The volume of the PA announcement decreases to prevent feedback in the related handset area if the crew uses the handset to start an announcement. If the cockpit door is open, the volume in the related area also decreases to prevent feedback noise between cockpit audio equipment and cabin loudspeakers. It is possible to do a test of this function for all areas. Emergency Conditions (© AIRBUS S.A.S. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
