Argumentative Paragraph Writing

The document discusses the structure of argumentative paragraphs. It explains that an argumentative paragraph should: 1. Introduce the main idea or argument in the topic sentence. 2. Support the main argument in 2-5 sentences. 3. Restate the main argument while drawing a conclusion in the last sentence. The paragraph should argue one side of an issue - either for or against the main idea. It should fit its argument succinctly without being overly long. Careful planning is also advised before writing the paragraph.

FOR or AGAINST ?

It is similar to the basic paragraph structure:

● Introduce the main idea in the topic sentence.

● Support the main idea in the following sentences (2-5 sentences possibly).
● Draw your conclusion while restating the main idea in the last sentence.

❖ The main idea is the point of view that you’re arguing for or against. State this clearly so that
your audience can easily see what your point of view is.

❖ A paragraph shouldn’t be overlong, so try to fit as much information into as small a space as
possible.

❖ Take the time to plan: think about the vocabulary/linking expressions you might need and
any grammar rules before you start to write, and the writing part will be much smoother.

An argumentative paragraph will be built around one main idea, but the main idea will be your argument or
your side of the argument.

The paragraph will just include one view point, the point of view that you’re arguing for. This type
of paragraph isn’t balanced. It’s just one side of the information. You can either be in favour of the
idea or against the idea.

Write a paragraph about the disadvantages of online school.

There are many reasons why online school has many drawbacks. To begin with, technology
has a major role in online education and therefore we depend a lot on it. In certain cases we can
face blackouts, poor Internet connection or the lack of suitable devices for a large number of
students. In recent times, due to pandemia all schools have moved into the digital world and this
caused the overuse of the network, which is the main cause of the problems. In addition students
are at home and this means they have many options that can distract their attention. attending an
online class cannot be supervised properly and students could be engaged in various other
activities. In this way they are not attentive, do not understand the lesson and they do not offer
feedback to the teachers. The lack of feedback is a serious problem because it is not clear if they
have understood the lesson, if they are present and there is no proper interaction. Last but not least
homeschooling/ online school excludes social interaction among students, they cannot socialize,
have fun, spend time together. This can have a negative impact on their lives, have long term
negative effects on their social relationships, a phenomenon emphasized by many psychologists.
To sum up, teaching online does not have positive effects neither on students nor on the process of
learning.
2.Travelling by car

- health safety -service
