B. Receiving - Specific Requirements

Where field-installed wiring passes through an opening in an enclosure, a


conduit box, or barrier, a bushing shall be used to protect the conductors SAES-P-100

from the edges of an opening having sharp edges. Sec 5.2

The bushing shall have smooth, wellrounded surfaces where it may be in


contact with the conductors. If used where oils, grease, or other

The control panel and radiator shall be mounted and shipped on a single 17-SAMSS-518

steel skid with suitable vibration dampers. 7.4.2.1

When installation outside of a building is specified on Data Schedule-1, a


self-contained enclosure shall be provided for the diesel generator set.
The enclosure shall be manufactured such that all parts are accessible for 17-SAMSS-518

inspection and minor maintenance without removal of the enclosure or Sec. 7.4.1
enclosure roof. It shall include the following below features (Item B11 to
B22):

The enclosure and all other items shall be designed and built by the

B11 supplier as an integral part of the entire diesel generator set, and shall

perform without overheating in the environment specified.

It shall be constructed of minimum 14-gauge sheet metal, suitably 17-SAMSS-518

A minimum of four doors are required. The doors shall be hinged so that

The engine cooling system shall be a thermostatically controlled, closed-


circuit design. The coolant pump shall be integral with the engine. A skid- 17-SAMSS-518

The engine cooling fan shall be the blower type. The fan, fan drive, and 17-SAMSS-518

The annunciator shall contain normally open dry contacts for summary of
the seven alarms and four shutdowns listed above.

In addition to the control panel stop pushbutton, for diesel generator sets

For generators rated 480 V and below, and 1200 kVA and below:
a) A readily accessible molded case circuit breaker shall be installed as

A lead-acid storage battery set of the heavy-duty diesel starting type shall

ambient conditions.

When standby-service or intermittent (prime) service is specified, a
