Direction: What is your understanding of the following passages or lines? Explain fully.
1. “When a teacher teaches a child, he teaches the whole world, everyone he will ever meet,
and everything he will ever be.”- Albert Schweitzer (10 pts.)
Teaching has always been considered a noble profession that requires a great deal of
passion. The challenges abound, and one’s passion can truly be tested. It is also your
responsibility to impart learning to your students, not only imparting knowledge but also inspiring
and motivating them to take important steps in life. Helping learners gain self-confidence, guiding
them on the right path, and dedicating their whole selves to empowering their students and making
them better and more successful human beings in their lives. Our educators really do their best
to offer us a fruitful education system ensuring that we may grow into good humans and successful
individuals in the future. On the other hand, the level of motivation among students can be
significantly increased by having positive interactions with teachers and other academics.
Stronger relationships allow for more academic engagement, improved social skills, and more
positive behavior in students. Teacher is the one who teach and facilitate learners in the learning
and teaching process. Teacher take the responsibility for the future of someone’s life. They are
the one who give so much effort to disseminate knowledge and relevant information that can open
up the mind of learners in different aspects of life that can be able to help them to know what they
want and who they wanted to be on the future. Moreover, a teacher is not just someone who will
give instructions to learners but someone who will look up to by anyone.

2. “Keep interested in your own career, however humble, it is a real possession in the
changing fortunes of times.” – Desiderata (10 pts.)
As an individual, we have our own career or path to take. We have different ambition we
want in our life and strive so hard to achieve it. However, pursuing a dream is not as easy as how
we say it and believe that we can make it. It will take a long process. As we go through our
dreamed career, we will encounter different obstacles in life. It might be personal or social
problems. Personal in a sense that we will get tired, unmotivated, stressed. Social in a sense that
you will encounter people who will discourage you to stop because they think you can’t do it.
However, for you to be able to still see hopes that you can still achieve your ultimate career in life
despite of the struggles you have been facing, you must keep motivated and interested on it. You
must be passionate, dedicated and put so much perseverance with humbleness. Always be
humble because character always wins. Always keep in mind that being kind to your self and to
others is the most important thing to appreciate every little thing you achieve in life. When you get
tired, rest but don’t ever let those dreams fade in your mind because you get tired and you lose
hope. Always look for a reason why you wanted to achieve your ultimate career because at the
end of the day, all your hard works will be worth it.
3. “Modern man listens more willingly to witnesses than to teachers, and if he does listen
to teachers, it is because they are witnesses.” –Pope Paul IV (10 pts.)
Students are more likely to listen to and value teachers who can impart personal
experiences or insider knowledge about a subject, claims the passage. The statement "if he does
listen to teachers, it is because they are witnesses" alludes to the fact that teachers are better at
instructing and forming bonds with their students when they can relate their own experiences or
opinions to them. Moreover, our teachers genuinely work hard to provide us with a successful
educational system, guaranteeing that we develop into morally upright and successful people in
the future. Hence, we must promote a polite environment because doing so will enable us to forge
meaningful connections. Teachers are professionals who should follow high ethical standards
since they will act as role models for their students. Teachers must conduct themselves in a way
that is proper to their profession in order to uphold their respect and dignity and fulfill their sworn
commitments. By sustaining strong ethical standards, we can gain the public's trust and dispel

any doubt regarding our moral character and capacity to provide people with the best services
possible. In the end, the passage suggests that in contemporary culture, personal testimonies
and experiences are more reliable than authoritative and expert counsel. It emphasizes how
important it is for teachers to be able to connect with their pupils and effectively teach them by
sharing their own expertise and experiences.
4. “Children don’t care a teacher knows unless they know the teacher cares.” –Unknown
(10 pts.)
Children always need a guidance of a good teacher. As a teacher, I always believed that
a learners will not appreciate what you are saying if your intention is just to teach them. Good
relationship with your learners always takes place for everything. Children will see how important
the education is as well as you as their teacher, once they feel that you care to them, when they
feel safe and motivated. Always remember that having empathy, care, and loved to your learners
are a great indicator to develop and create a harmonious relationship within the learners and the
teacher. A teacher is someone who guides students through the teaching and learning process.
The future of a student's life is in the teacher's hands. They are the ones who put in the most effort
to transmit knowledge and pertinent information, which can open up students' minds to various
areas of life and enable them to know what they want and who they want to be in the future. In
addition, a teacher is someone that students look up to in addition to someone who gives them
instructions.
5. “It takes the whole village to raise a child.” – African Proverb (10 pts.)
The phrase "it takes a village to raise a child" communicates the idea that many people are
needed in order to provide children the comfort they require in to grow and prosper as well as to
be able to realize their ambitions and dreams. For instance, one important functions of families is
to show its members support, love, and direction. Depending on the culture, family values, and
accessibility of resources for education, economic development, and welfare, how they go about
doing this will vary. Parents communicate to their children the values, standards, and regulations
about relationships and societal institutions through an interpretive framework. Parents' habits
and views in turn reflect the values and standards of the era in which they were raised as well as
the culture in which they reside.
