Dark Web

The document discusses the differences between the surface web, deep web, and dark web. The surface web is the small portion of the internet that is indexed by search engines. The deep web consists of unindexed web pages that require authentication or special software to access. The dark web is a small part of the deep web that can only be accessed through anonymity software like TOR and is known for illegal activities such as drug trafficking and sales of stolen information. While the dark web allows for anonymity, it is difficult to distinguish legal from illegal users.

DARK WEB

Today almost everyone use the internet in everyday life. The internet has two building blocks:
“Surface Web” and “Deep Web”. We all are very familiar with websites like Amazon,
Wikipedia, Facebook, YouTube, etc. These sites come under the Surface Web that can be
indexed by search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. The Surface web is well-known as
“Visible Web”. But this is not all of the internet. The Surface web is the small area of the
Internet that’s 4 percent of the internet which may be accessible by the general population
(Hurlburt, 2017). The surface web provides tremendous information and it is lawful. Far away
from these websites, certain sites are hidden and not available to the ordinary public that is 96
percent of the Internet. This unique place is where the Deep Web exists. As validation is
essential to access the data like net-banking or private accounts. Websites on the “Hidden Web”
guarantee secrecy to the users (Bradbury, 2019). (Bradbury, 2019). If these websites are indexed,
then anybody may get the data by searching your name and the personal information will be
given to the people. Validation protected pages are unindexed to ensure the secrecy. These
websites may be accessed with the verification on the Deep web. The Dark Web is only a minor
portion of the Deep Web, which is much larger.

The "Invisible Web" is another name for the "Dark Web." The general population cannot access
the Dark Web. 0.01 percent of the Internet's 45,000 Dark Web sites are devoted to illegal activity
(East, 2017). It is the secret material of the WWW (World Wide Web) on the Deep Web that is
known as the Dark Web. To utilize it, you'll need a variety of specialized tools and software, as
well as access to a specific network. It ensures privacy and prevents search engines from
indexing them. Anonymous software like TOR (The Onion Router), Subgraph, Waterfox, and
I2P (Invisible Internet Project) must be installed in browsers to access the Dark Web. Images of
the surface of the Internet are shown. For both brilliant and horrible performers, this encrypted
internet allows them to work in secrecy. It is a reality for both buyers and sellers. In order to
access the black web, TOR is the best option. It can be used for both lawful and illegitimate
purposes. Reporters and informers have the right to freedom of expression, but the dark web is
used for unlawful activities such as trafficking with narcotics, stolen credit card information, and
gambling (2021). The Surface web has a dark counterpart. It's the same as Clearnet in terms of
functionality. For example, it features commercial websites like Amazon or Flipkart that allow
people to purchase or sell items, and Wikileaks, which is akin to Wikipedia on the Surface web,
is also present. To transfer traffic (HTTP and FTP) across and within networks, it follows
TCP/protocol IP's agenda. HTML pages and their benefits make up the bulk of its material. The
dark web is known for illicit activities and is seen as a dangerous location where narcotics and
other illegal goods are sold. If privacy is a primary concern, this might be a highly safe way to
access the web.

As a result, the black web is unable to distinguish between dangerous and legitimate users due of
qualities like anonymity. The government must find a way to protect the privacy of consumers
while also capturing the offenders in order to deal with this issue.
