The learner demonstrates understanding of how world literature and other
text types serve as sources of wisdom in expressing and resolving conflicts
among individuals, groups and nature; also, how to use evaluative reading,
listening and viewing strategies, special speeches for occasion, pronouns and
structures of modification.

2. Performance Standards:
The learner skillfully delivers a speech for a special occasion through
utilizing effective verbal and non-verbal strategies and ICT resources.

3. Learning Competency:

4. Specified Objective:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

1. Concept/ Ideas:
Argument: An exchange or diverging of opposite views
Essay: The action or process of reasoning systematically in support of data.
Argumentative Essay: attempts to change the reader’s mind by convincing the
reader to agree with the writer’s stand or point of view.
2. Process/ Skills: Developing the critical thinking of oneself with accuracy
through making an argumentative essay.
3. Value Focus: Appreciating to read and write an argumentative essay.

Before we get started, I would like you to inform for the following reminders.

1. For those students with low vision, please inform your teacher to rearrange
your seating arrangement.

to the front of the class to hear more clearly.

3. Make sure that you are in your most convenient learning spot.

4. Remember also to maintain your safety even at home, always wash your
hands with soap and water. Always stay safe.”

Motivation: ACTIVITY 1
Directions: Analyze and prove your claim assigned to your group. Raise your tag
lines “We Go for ONLINE” for the Group 1 and “Hardcopy can Cope up!” for the
Group 2.

Note: COVID 19 pandemic has changed the world. It has altered on economic, social,
political, and educational aspects across the world. Committed to the mandate of the
Department of Education, Tabao National High School had needed to adjust to the new
situation wherein face-to-face interaction and mass gatherings are prohibited, so the school
implemented innovative ways to fulfil its tasks. The school come up with learning, modalities
to cater the needs of the students in the new normal set-up.

Note: The teacher will encourage everyone to participate in the activity.

effective when it comes to distance learning?

Directions: Analyze the video clip presented and remember the three learning principles
while watching. “Listen, Note and Learn.”

and caricatures will be shown which allows them for more efficient processing and
memory recall. Visual stimulation grabs students' attention.

learners, the audio narration is provided for the concept being taught, so that they will

1. Encircle the ‘hook’ in the introduction. Is it interesting or surprising?

Hook is the first sentence of the essay that catches the reader’s attention which
can be in a form of a question, quotation, statistics, personal anecdote, and an
example.

2. Underline the thesis statement in the introduction.


Thesis Statement- One sentence summary of your stand or claim.

3. Underline the topic sentences in your body.


Topic Sentence- The topic for each paragraph in the body stated in one sentence and
supported by supporting details can be either evidence, examples, statistics, personal
experiences, or quotations.

4. Put a square on the counterclaim of the text found in the body.


Counter-claim- opposing view or the one that challenges or offsets your
claim. They can use the words such as Against, while is it true, although,
though, even though, some might argue, others might say to present an
opposing stand.

5. Put a check on the rebuttal part of the body before the text.
Rebuttal- The one that negates the counterclaim. They can use the words such
as despite this, in spite this, however, in fact, nevertheless, on the other
hand, yet and nonetheless in proving their claim to reject the counterclaim.

Why uniforms important in today’s society? In the hearts of the students of Tabao National
High School, school witnessed the most important happenings in our lives because we learn
how to socialize, play sports, perform academically, and become responsible adults in the
world.

Requiring school uniform is the is a must because uniforms make our lives easier, make us
act more maturely, and create equality between everyone.

First, students in our school must wear uniforms to make our lives simpler.
Our parents could save a lot of money instead of buying new outfits for
each day of the school since that most families residing in Tabao earn a living in fishing and
planting.

Second, statistics show that the positive effects that uniforms have on violence and
academics. In the Philippines, where uniforms were introduced, violence dropped by 50

Lastly, for the experts, school uniforms would make all students look the same no matter how
