A. Introduction 10 minutes One of the most widely spread types of technical documentation is manual.
Panimula Nowadays, practically everything that surrounds us has a manual. One of these is
a Service Manual. It helps technicians and other trained people service, maintain,
and repair equipment. It usually contains information on the problems and
breakages that may occur and guidelines on how to fix them. It is different from a
user manual that assists people to use a particular system or device.

DOMESTIC APPLIANCES
1. Electric Oven
Electric oven is a thermally insulated chamber used for heating, baking,
or drying of a substance, and most used for cooking. Kilns and furnaces are
special- purpose ovens used in pottery and metal works and operates with the
use of electricity. Electric oven is widely used in home and in business industries,
bakery, and fast foods.
An electric oven is a baking chamber. It is either part of an electric range or
a stand-alone appliance without the cooktop. It is a 240/120-volt circuit–240 volts
for the heating elements and 120 volts for the accessories. A thermostat senses
and regulates oven temperature. Time and temperatures are regulated by an
electric timer motor or by a digital controller. Most electric ovens have two
heating elements, the main one on the bottom of the chamber and another
one on the top, typically used for broiling.

Installer Technical Manual


This appliance is marked according to the European directive 2011/65/EU
(RoHS), also this appliance is marked according to the European directive
2012/19/EU on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). This guideline
is the frame of a European-wide validity of return and recycling on Waste
Electrical and Electronic Equipment.

Important Information for Installing the Appliance


The cooker can be installed separately, as a freestanding unit, or
between kitchen units or between a kitchen unit and the wall. The device must be
installed in accordance with the regulations stated in UNI 7129 and UNI 7131
standards. This appliance is not connected to devices which exhaust
combustion products. Special attention must be focused on the prescriptions
described below regarding room aeration and ventilation. Any hanging cabinets
installed above the work surface must be located at no less than 700 mm.
ROOM VENTILATION is needed to ensure that the appliance operates correctly.
The room where it is installed must be continuously ventilated. The room volume
should not be less than 25 m³ and the quantity of air needed shall be based on
the regular combustion of gas and on the ventilation of the room. Natural air will
flow through permanent openings in the walls of the room to be ventilated: these
openings will relate to the outside environment and shall have a minimum cross-
section defined by the current national standards

clogged. Indirect ventilation is also permitted by taking air from the rooms
adjacent to the one to be ventilated.

Appliance Electrical Connection:


The electric connection must comply with the current legal standards and
regulations. Before making the connection, check that: - The system electrical
rating and the current outlets are adequate for the maximum power output of the
appliance (see the label applied to the bottom of the casing). - The outlet or
the system is equipped with an efficient ground connection in accordance with
the current legal standards and regulations. The company will not be
responsible for the non-compliance with these instructions. When the
connection to the power supply network is made using an outlet: - If the
power cord is supplied without a plug, apply a standard plug that is suitable
for the load indicated on the label. Connect the wires according to the diagram
Check that: letter L (phase) = brown wire; letter N (neutral) = blue wire; ground
symbol = green-yellow wire; - The power cord must be positioned so that an
overtemperature of 75 K will not be reached at any point. - Do not use reductions,
adapters, or splitters since they might cause false contacts and lead to
dangerous overheating. When the connection is made directly to the electric
network: - Use a device that ensures disconnection from the mains in which the
contacts are opened to a distance that permits complete disconnection
according to the conditions for over-voltage category III. - Remember that the
ground wire must not be interrupted by the circuit-breaker. - As an alternative,
the electric connection can also be protected by a high- sensitivity residual
current circuit-breaker. - It is highly recommended to attach the special green-
yellow ground wire to an efficient ground system. WARNING: If the power cord is
replaced, the ground wire (yellow green) connected to the terminal, should be
longer than the other wires by about 2 cm.

2. Rice Cooker
A rice cooker or rice steamer is an automated kitchen appliance designed to
boil or steam rice. It consists of a heat source, a cooking bowl, and a thermostat.
The thermostat measures the temperature of the cooking bowl and controls
the heat.
Installation:
a. Unpacking
Unpack the Rice Cooker immediately after receipt. If the machine is found
to be damaged, save the packaging material and contact the carrier within
fifteen
(15) days of delivery. Immediately contact service or your local dealer of the
equipment. You have no recourse to damage after fifteen (15) days.

To Avoid Serious Personal Injury:


• ALWAYS install equipment in a work area with adequate light and space.
• ONLY operate on a solid, level, nonskid surface that is nonflammable and
away from sinks and water hazards.
• NEVER bypass, alter or modify this equipment in any way from its original
condition. Doing so may create hazards and will void warranty.
• NEVER operate the Rice Cooker without all warnings, including the sticker
attached to the line/cord.

Installation Procedure:
1.Read the manual thoroughly before installation and operation. DO NOT
proceed with installation and operation if you have any questions or do not
understand anything in the manual. Contact your local representative or call
the service number on the front of the manual.
2.Remove the rice cooker from the box. Once your rice cooker has been
removed from the packaging, be certain that all protective plastics and
residues are removed from all surfaces.
3. Inspect the rice cooker to ensure all parts have been provided.
4. Select a location for the rice cooker that has a level, solid, nonskid surface that
is nonflammable and away from water hazards or sinks and is in a well-
lighted work area away from children and visitors.

5.Install the Rice Cooker in its location with at least 4'' between the appliance
and the walls or other objects.
6. Proper connections and power supply are essential for efficient performance.

Important Safeguards and Safety Instructions:


When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be
followed. DO NOT operate rice cooker if unit appears damaged or malfunctions in
any manner. To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plugs,
or appliance in water or in any liquid.
• Close supervision is necessary when rice cooker is being used. Operator must
be properly trained on all operational and safety procedures.
• Unplug unit when not in use and before cleaning. Allow unit to cool before
moving or cleaning.
• The use of any cooking pans/pots, which are not recommended by the
manufacturer, may cause fire or injuries.
• Do not use outdoors. For indoor use only.
• Do not allow power cord to hang over edge of table or counter, or to touch
hot surfaces.
• Do not place the rice cooker in, on, or near open flames, electric burners,
heated ovens, or other high temperature equipment or surroundings.
• To disconnect, turn off all controls then gently remove plug from wall outlet.
• Do not use rice cooker for anything other than cooking food product.
• Do not immerse rice cooker base in water, as this will cause permanent
damage to unit.
• Do not place the unit in the dish machine for cleaning.
• Use CAUTION always when filling or emptying the rice cooker with water.
Make sure the unit is unplugged before filling and unplugged before emptying
water to avoid risk of electric shock.
• Before cleaning the rice cooker – Unit must be unplugged and cool to
touch.
• Caution - To ensure continued protection against risk of electric shock,
connect to properly grounded outlets only.
• Do not heat any pots or pans inside of the rice cooker.
• Allow sufficient space around the cooking area and always place unit on
level flat surface. Keep unit a minimum of 4'' from wall or other
equipment or obstructions to avoid fire or heating of other objects.
• Never use turn on the rice cooker with plastic or foil covering the inner
cooking pot.
• When storing, empty all water. DO NOT place any object(s) on top of the
rice cooker.

3. Microwave Oven
A microwave oven is a relatively small, boxlike
oven that raises the temperature of food by
subjecting it to a high-frequency electromagnetic
field. Microwave ovens generate radiation at a
frequency of about 2,450 megahertz by means of
a magnetron, which is a kind of electron tube.

Microwave ovens are generally used for time efficiency in both industrial
applications such as restaurants and at home, rather than for cooking quality,
although some modern recipes using microwave ovens rival recipes using
traditional ovens and stoves. They have a central heated anode which is the
source of electrons. These are several identical tuned cavities a very strong
magnet, and a small antenna to extract the energy. They are usually made of
metal but operate on the same principles that glass thermionic valves do.

Important Safety Precautions:


When using electrical appliances basic safety precautions should be followed,
including the following:
1) Read all instructions before using the appliance.
2) Read and follow the specific: “PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID POSSIBLE EXPOSURE
TO EXCESSIVE MICROWAVE ENERGY”.

3) This appliance must be grounded. Connect only to properly grounded outlet.
See “GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS”.
4) Install or locate this appliance only in accordance with the
provided installation instructions.
5) Some products such as whole eggs and sealed containers - for example,
closed glass jars - can explode and should not be heated in this oven.
6) Use this appliance only for its intended use as described in the manual. Do
not use corrosive chemicals or vapors in this appliance. This type of oven is
specifically designed to heat, cook or dry food. It is not designed for
industrial or laboratory use.
7) As with any appliance, close supervision is necessary when used by children.
8) Do not operate this appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not
working properly, or if it has been damaged or dropped.
9) This appliance should be serviced only by qualified service personnel. Contact
nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.
10) Do not cover or block any openings on the appliance.
11) Do not store this appliance outdoors. Do not use this product near water – for
example, near a kitchen sink, in a wet basement, near a swimming pool,
or similar location.
12) Do not immerse cord or plug in water.
13) Keep cord away from heated surface.
14) Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter.
15) When cleaning surfaces of door and oven that comes together on closing
the door, use only mild, nonabrasive soaps, or detergent applied with a
sponge or soft cloth.
16) To reduce the risk of fire in the oven cavity: Do not overcook food.
Carefully attend appliance when paper, plastic, or other combustible
materials are placed inside the oven to facilitate cooking.
17) Remove wire twist-ties from paper or plastic bag before placing bag in oven.
18) If material inside of the oven ignite, keep oven door closed, turn oven off, and
disconnect the power cord or shut off power at the fuse or circuit breaker
panel.
19) Do not use the cavity for storage purposes. Do not leave paper products,
cooking utensils, or food in the cavity when not in use.
20) Liquids, such as water, coffee, or tea can be overheated beyond the
boiling point without appearing to be boiling. Visible bubbling or boiling
when the container is removed from the microwave oven is not always
present. THIS COULD RESULT IN VERY HOT LIQUID SUDDENLY BOILING
OVER WHEN THE CONTAINER IS DISTURBED OR A UTENSIL IS INSERTED INTO
THE LIQUID.

Precautions to Avoid Possible Exposure to Excessive Microwave Energy


a. Result in harmful exposure to microwave energy. It is important not to defeat
or tamper with the safety interlocks.
b. Do not place any object between the oven front face and the door or
allows soil or cleaner residue to accumulate on sealing surfaces.
c. Do not operate the oven if it is damaged. It is particularly important that
the oven door close properly and that there is no damage to the:
(1)DOOR (bent)
(2)HINGES AND LATCHES (broken or loosened)
(3)DOOR SEALS AND SEALING SURFACES
d. The oven should not be adjusted or repaired by anyone except properly
qualified service personnel.

Grounding Instructions
This appliance must be grounded. In the event of an electrical short circuit,
grounding reduces the risk of electric shock by providing an escape wire for
the electric current. This appliance is equipped with a cord having a grounding
wire with a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an outlet that is
properly installed and grounded.
CAUTION
Improper use of the grounding can result in a risk of electric shock. Consult
a qualified electrician or serviceman if the grounding instructions are not
completely

it is necessary to use an extension cord, use only a 3-wire extension cord that has
a 3-blade grounded plug, and 3-slot receptacle that will accept the plug on the
