Eternal Life Do you want it? May 24/20

In a world fixated on a living a long life, living the good life, and obtaining a better quality of life-it is easy
to overlook the importance of the life to come. Look beyond the things of this world and to consider your
eternity.
Jesus is the only way to the father, Jesus is God, Jesus is my savior.
HOW TO GET TO HEAVEN!
1 John 5, Faith Conquers the World
1
Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the parent
loves the child.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments.
3 For the love of God is this, that we obey his commandments. And his commandments are not
burdensome,
4 for whatever is born of God conquers the world. And this is the victory that conquers the world, our
faith.
5 Who is it that conquers the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
Testimony concerning the Son of God
This is the one who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ, not with the water only but with the water

and the blood. And the Spirit is the one that testifies, for the Spirit is the truth.
7 There are three that testify:
8 the Spirit and the water and the blood, and these three agree.
9 If we receive human testimony, the testimony of God is greater; for this is the testimony of God that he
has testified to his Son.
10 Those who believe in the Son of God have the testimony in their hearts. Those who do not believe in
God have made him a liar by not believing in the testimony that God has given concerning his Son.
11 And this is the testimony: God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Epilogue
13
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you
have eternal life.
Romans 6,
23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Revelation 20,

Then I saw thrones, and those seated on them were given authority to judge. I also saw the souls of those
who had been beheaded for their testimony to Jesus and for the word of God. They had not worshiped
the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life
and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first
resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. Over these the second death has no
power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him a thousand years.
Revelation 21,
1
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and
the sea was no more.
2 And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride
adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying,
“See, the home of God is among mortals.
He will dwell with them;
they will be his peoples,
and God himself will be with them;
he will wipe every tear from their eyes.

Death will be no more;

mourning and crying and pain will be no more,
for the first things have passed away.”

And the one who was seated on the throne said, “See, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write
this, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
6 Then he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the
thirsty I will give water as a gift from the spring of the water of life.
7 Those who conquer will inherit these things, and I will be their God and they will be my children.
8 But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the polluted, the murderers, the fornicators, the sorcerers, the
idolaters, and all liars, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second
death.”
In order to get eternal life:
 I must agree with God that Jesus is the eternal son of God.

 I must be willing to accept Jesus Christ as my personal savior. Eternal life is linked to the God the
son. Believing is a confidence conviction that Jesus is who He says He is, and the ipon placing my trust
in Him as my savior I enter into a personal, an eternal relationship with Him. I believe what He did in
Calvary.
John 1, The Word Became Flesh
1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
3 All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come
into being
4 in him was life, and the life was the light of all people.
5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

7 He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him.
8 He himself was not the light, but he came to testify to the light.
9 The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.
10
He was in the world, and the world came into being through him; yet the world did not know him.
11 He came to what was his own, and his own people did not accept him.
12 But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God,
13 who were born, not of blood or of the will of the flesh or of the will of man, but of God.
And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s
14

only son, full of grace and truth.

15 (John testified to him and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks ahead
of me because he was before me.’”)
16 From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.
17 The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
18 No one has ever seen God. It is God the only Son, who is close to the Father’s heart, who has made him
known.

Eternal Life you can be sure 1? May 25/21

If I die today, am I sure that I have eternal life?

Does the question bother me?
I can be sure that I have the gift!

Epilogue
13
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you
have eternal life.
The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal with our Lord.
It is irreversibly link to my relationship with my Lord Jesus Christ.
Does God want me to be sure of eternal life?
Yes, He does. Because it is gift from Him, nothing I can do to get it.
I am sealed, whether I feel or not.
Why people doubt?
 They are not saved yet. They are unsure about life. They never trusted the Lord Jesus Christ withpout
any condition.
 Sin in their life. The result of sin shortcircuits the relationship between them and God, feeling unsafe,
unsecured, doubtful.
Hebrews 12, The Example of Jesus
1
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight
and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us,
2 looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before
him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of
God.
Consider him who endured such hostility against himself from sinners, [c] so that you may not grow

weary or lose heart.

4 In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.
5 And you have forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as children—
“My child, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord,
    or lose heart when you are punished by him;

for the Lord disciplines those whom he loves,
and chastises every child whom he accepts.”

Endure trials for the sake of discipline. God is treating you as children; for what child is there whom a
parent does not discipline?
8 If you do not have that discipline in which all children share, then you are illegitimate and not his
children.
9 Moreover, we had human parents to discipline us, and we respected them. Should we not be even more
willing to be subject to the Father of spirits and live?
10 For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, in
order that we may share his holiness.
11 Now, discipline always seems painful rather than pleasant at the time, but later it yields the peaceful
fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
12
Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, 13 and make straight paths for your
feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed.
 False doctrine. Heavy emphasis on doing and performing, livng the commandments, wanting to do to
get salvation.
 Emphasis on emotionalism. Unless there is a saturation with the word of God, and a life of prayer in
the Holy Spirit.
 Don’t believe the teaching of the word of God. Are you sure of your salvation after hearing the truth?
I have to believe the scriptures. My trust in God wavers, because I don’t believe what the bible says.
Romans 10, Salvation Is for All

Moses writes concerning the righteousness that comes from the law, that “the person who does these
things will live by them.”
6 But the righteousness that comes from faith says, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into
heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down)
7 “or ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it
say?
“The word is near you, on your lips and in your heart”
(that is, the word of faith that we proclaim);
9 because if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him
from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For one believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved.
11 The scripture says, “No one who believes in him will be put to shame.”
12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all and is generous to all
who call on him.
13 For, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
14
But how are they to call on one in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in one of
whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone to proclaim him?
15 And how are they to proclaim him unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of
those who bring good news!”
16 But not all have obeyed the good news; for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?”
17 So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ.
18
But I ask, have they not heard? Indeed they have; for
“Their voice has gone out to all the earth,
and their words to the ends of the world.”
19
Again I ask, did Israel not understand? First Moses says,
“I will make you jealous of those who are not a nation;
with a foolish nation I will make you angry.”
20
Then Isaiah is so bold as to say,
“I have been found by those who did not seek me;
I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me.”
21
But of Israel he says, “All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.”

Eternal security and assurance, differences.
 Eternal security is that work of God by which He garantees the gift of eternal life, once received is
forver and it cannot be lost.
 Assurance is a confident realization that I posses eternal life, it is an intelectual and a spiritual
recognition and confidence that I possess eternal life.
Reasons why people doubt:
 They don’t have it. They have good feelings, they decided to be good, married and on, but never
recognize Jesus as their savior.
 A satanic attack! I either have to believe Jesus or the devil. We know he is a liar and we know Jesus is
the truth.
 They cannot pinpóint the exact time of their conversion. Some people doubt their time and the place.
Or the process by which they were saved.
 Not baptized. Most of the time we resist baptism, because we have something in our lives, probably
sin.
 I have committed the unpardonable sin.
4 basis for our absolute unwavering assurance of eternal life:
 The powerful awesome unchangeable promises of God the father.
John 3
16
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not
perish but may have eternal life.
John 5,
24
Very truly, I tell you, anyone who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and
does not come under judgment, but has passed from death to life.
John 10,
27
My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me.
28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand.
29 What my Father has given me is greater than all else, and no one can snatch it out of the Father’s hand.
30 The Father and I are one.”
 The unconditional love of God for us.
Romans 6, God’s Love in Christ Jesus
31
What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
32 He who did not withhold his own Son, but gave him up for all of us, will he not with him also give us
everything else?
33 Who will bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.
34 Who is to condemn? It is Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised, who is at the right hand of God,
who indeed intercedes for us.
35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or
nakedness, or peril, or sword?
 36 As it is written,
“For your sake we are being killed all day long;
we are accounted as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to
come, nor powers,
39 nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God
in Christ Jesus our Lord.
 Finished work of jesus at the cross.
Hebrews 7, Another Priest, Like Melchizedek
11
Now if perfection had been attainable through the levitical priesthood—for the people received the law
under this priesthood—what further need would there have been to speak of another priest arising
according to the order of Melchizedek, rather than one according to the order of Aaron?
12 For when there is a change in the priesthood, there is necessarily a change in the law as well.
13 Now the one of whom these things are spoken belonged to another tribe, from which no one has ever
served at the altar.
14 For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, and in connection with that tribe Moses said
nothing about priests.
15
It is even more obvious when another priest arises, resembling Melchizedek,
16 one who has become a priest, not through a legal requirement concerning physical descent, but through
the power of an indestructible life.
17 For it is attested of him,
“You are a priest forever,
according to the order of Melchizedek.”
There is, on the one hand, the abrogation of an earlier commandment because it was weak and
18

ineffectual
19 (for the law made nothing perfect); there is, on the other hand, the introduction of a better hope,
through which we approach God.
20
This was confirmed with an oath; for others who became priests took their office without an oath,
21 but this one became a priest with an oath, because of the one who said to him,
“The Lord has sworn
and will not change his mind,
‘You are a priest forever’”—
accordingly Jesus has also become the guarantee of a better covenant.
22

Furthermore, the former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from
23

continuing in office;
24 but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever.
25 Consequently he is able for all time to save those who approach God through him, since he always lives
to make intercession for them.
For it was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, blameless, undefiled, separated from
26

sinners, and exalted above the heavens.

27 Unlike the other high priests, he has no need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and
then for those of the people; this he did once for all when he offered himself.
28 For the law appoints as high priests those who are subject to weakness, but the word of the oath, which
came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect forever.
 The testimony of the Holy Spirit within me, witnessing me that I am a child of God.
How do I acknoledge my eternal security:
I acnowledge my sinfulness, confessing, repenting and acceptin His forgivenes at the cross.
And
Accepting and recognizin Jesus Christ as Redeemer, Savior, Healer, Sustainer, Provider and Lord of my
life.
