ENGAGE
Listen to the short story

One Saturday afternoon, the siblings Tim, Denden, and Aizy went to the sea to
have a Banca ride. Riding a banca is one of their favorite hobbies during weekend.
They enjoy watching the sunset while sitting on the boat. Aizy brings out her fish
stuffed toy from her bag. She wanted to have a selfie with her stuffed toy.
Unfortunately, a wave came out and made their boat move unexpectedly. Suddenly,
Aizy’s stuffed toy fell into the water and she was not able to save it. She was too
sad about what happened to her toy.

What do you think will happen to her stuffed toy after falling in the sea?
Let us see what happened to her stuffed toy under the sea!

C. Motivation

lesson

Guide Questions:
1. How many went for a banca ride? Who are they?
2. What is their favorite hobby?
3. What happened to Aizy’s stuffed toy?
4. What should you do when riding the banca? (Values Integration)
5. After connecting the broken lines, what happened to the stuffed toy under the
sea?
6. After being caught by the octopus, does the shape of the stuffed toy changed?
7. What did the octopus do to change the shape of stuffed toy?

EXPLORE
E. Modeling Identify the force applied to the following materials to change their shape.
Discussing new concepts and Write compressing, bending, stretching, twisting, or pressing.
practicing new skills #1
F. Guided Practice Activity 1
Discussing new concepts and Get a rubber band. Stretch it softly.
practicing new skills #2 Does the shape of rubber band change when stretched?
(Yes, force changed its shape)

Activity 2
Get a kitchen sponge and squeeze it.
What happen when you squeezed it?
(It changed its shape by applying force)
What happen when you released it?
(It regained its original shape)

Get a spring toy.

What happen when you pulled or stretched it?
(It changed its shape whenpulled or stretched. )
What happen when you released it?
(It regained its original shape)
What does it show?
(Some objects regained their shapes when force is removed.)

Activity 3
Take an inflated balloon.
Press the balloon gently by hands.
What happen when you pressed the balloon?
(It changed its shape)
What happen when you released it?
(It regained its shape when the force applied is removed)
Activity 4
Get a ball of clay and press it with hands.
What happen when you pressed the clay ball with your hands.
(Its shape changed)
Does it return to its original shape when hands are removed.
(No.)
Some object do not regain their original shape when the force applied is
removed.

Formative Assessment 3)
(I applied force using my fingers, hands, etc)
(Leading to Formative Assessment)  What are the effects of force to the shape of those objects? Why?
 (The shape of some objects changed because force can change the shape of an
object)
ELABORATE
Anywhere, everywhere, there is force.
Now, take a picture of some household activities that show changes in shape
when force is applied. Send the picture in our chat group. Complete the table
below.
