TRAINING WITH YOUR PEERS USING THE UNLOCK

TEACHER DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS


The Unlock teacher development workshops provide all of the content necessary for you to deliver collaborative training
with your peers. The topics have been chosen to help teachers get the most out of the features of Unlock Second
edition, thereby successfully supporting their students to improve their language and academic skills.

There are five topics covered in the Unlock Second Edition teacher development workshops:

• Using the Unlock Classroom App


• Giving Feedback on Academic Speaking
• Unlocking Academic Writing
• Unlocking Critical Thinking
• Unlocking Mixed-Ability Teaching

Each workshop consists of a PowerPoint presentation, a set of trainer’s notes, photocopiable Worksheets and pre- and
post-session quizzes accessible via the Cambridge Pocket App and the Cambridge Learning Management System (CLMS).

We suggest running the sessions in the following order:

1 Teachers take the pre-session quiz on the Cambridge Pocket App before the workshop session to assess their
knowledge on the workshop topic.
2 The peer trainer conducts the workshop with the provided PowerPoint presentation, trainer’s notes, and associated
photocopiable Worksheets. Be sure to print enough Worksheets for all participants.
3 After the workshop, participants should take the post-session quiz on the Cambridge Pocket App. Successful
completion of the post-session quiz will generate a certificate of completion. Participants can download and
print the certificate for their records by logging in to the CLMS on a computer.

Contact your local Cambridge representative for CLMS access codes to access the workshop quizzes. We recommend
using the self-study version of the quizzes for a peer-led workshop.

The CLMS access code will also grant access to Teaching with Unlock Second Edition, an online teacher training course
that will help teachers become more familiar with the content, methodology and components of Unlock, so that they
feel confident working with the books and the digital and online resources.

HOW TO ACCESS

1 Teachers should download the Cambridge Pocket App from the Apple App

2 Teachers should register on the CLMS before they can log in to the app. Once Username
registered on the CLMS they can log in to the app using the same user name
and password. Teachers only need to log in to the app once and they are Password

logged in for one year. Log in


3 Teachers then click on ‘Activate a New Product’ on the CLMS or in the Forgot your password?
Cambridge Pocket App and use their Activation code. Create an account
