Control point information can be imported and written to the CONTROL file of the active project from an ASCII file that is formatted with the information
for each point on a separate line of the file. Each field of information must be separated by a space or tab to form columns of information for multiple
points. In the following example, the point ID is the first column, XYZ coordinates are the second, third, and fourth columns, point class is the fifth, point
type is the sixth, X, Y, and Z standard deviations are the seventh, eighth, and ninth columns, and the point description extends from the tenth column to
the end of the line.
P or XY an XY point
V or Z a Z point
CO a control point
CH a check point
PA a pass point
For a description
Place descriptive information at the end of a line and enter in the Desc. field the number of the column from which it starts. All information from this

column to the end of the line will be imported as the control point description, so the other fields are restricted to numbers that are less than the Desc.
column number. A check is made to ensure that the description column is the highest-numbered column being imported, and an error message is
displayed if it is not.
For the example input, you would indicate which column of the ASCII file contained which information by entering the column numbers in the Import
Control Points dialog box as follows:
Assuming no coordinate system conversion has been specified, the information would be imported into the project CONTROL file as follows:
1053 336429.96 1488541.342 8249.32 /sx=0.1 /sy=0.1 /sz=0.1 /pc=XYZ /pt=CONTROL /desc=Surveyed 5-12-01

The Import EO, GPS/INS, POSEO command allows you to import an exterior orientation file, define the values associated with it, and specify whether to
overwrite existing exterior orientation file values with the updated values.
For information about input file format, see:
Formats and Examples
The selections and settings that are entered in this dialog box when you click OK to import data will be the
same the next time you open the dialog box and will remain so until you change them. The exceptions are EO,
GPS/INS, POSEO File (Input Information), Overwrite Existing Computed EO (Input Information), Linear Units
(Convert Using), Angular Units (Convert Using), the default Z value (EO, GPS/INS, POSEO Settings), Overwrite
Existing Image File Paths and Do Not Create Photos.
Exterior Orientation Type
Generic EO
Specifies that the selected file provides exterior orientation parameters in no predetermined number or arrangement. Use the options under EO,
GPS/INS, POSEO Settings to indicate how each column of data in the file is to be interpreted by the command.
GPS / INS
Specifies that the selected exterior orientation file contains parameters that are derived from the Global Positioning System and/or an inertial
navigation system. X, Y, Z, and Time Stamp values are provided by GPS; Omega, Phi, and Kappa are provided by INS. Use the options under EO,
GPS/INS, POSEO Settings to indicate how each column of data in the file is to be interpreted by the command. Because time stamp data is specific
to GPS, the Time Stamp option is active only when you select the GPS/INS exterior orientation type.
Applanix POSEO
Specifies that the selected exterior orientation file is one that has been created by Applanix POSEO software in a format designed specifically to be
imported into an ImageStation project. Since the format is predetermined, most conversion and column settings are made inactive when you select
this exterior orientation type.
Input Information
EO, GPS/INS, POSEO
Specifies the path and file name of the exterior orientation parameters file to be imported.
Opens the Select Exterior Orientation File dialog box. Use this dialog box to select an exterior orientation file to import.
View
Opens a selected exterior orientation file for viewing.
Overwrite Existing Computed EO
Causes the existing computed exterior orientation values of a photo to be overwritten by imported values when all the following are true:
n This option is selected
n The imported photo ID matches the ID of the existing photo
n The imported strip ID is the same (or, no strip ID is imported where there is no existing strip ID).
If the option is selected and a criterion is not met, a new photo will be created with the new strip/photo ID and even then only if the Do Not Create
Photos option is not activated.
Clear the check box if you want to append all imported values to the photo file without overwriting any existing values.
The Import EO, GPS/INS, POSEO command will always overwrite the given exterior orientation
file:///C:/Users/User/AppData/Local/Temp/~hhE87C.htm 15-03-2023
Translators Commands Page 4 of 14
parameters of an existing photo. If computed exterior orientation parameters do not exist for an existing
photo, the imported exterior orientation parameters will be written to both computed and given parameters. If
computed exterior orientation parameters exist for a photo they will be overwritten only if the Overwrite
Existing Computed EO checkbox is selected. If a photo is found not to exist during the import, it will be
created, and both given and computed exterior orientation parameters will be written to the new photo.
Overwrite Existing Image File Paths
If the file being read by the Import EO command contains image file paths, you can have those paths overwrite whatever paths are associated with
photos that already exist in the project. You must select the import Image IDs in the "EO, GPS/INS, POSEO Settings" section of the dialog, then
check the Overwrite Existing Image File Paths checkbox in the Input Information section.
Do Not Create Photos
If this option is selected, the Import EO command will modify the given EO (and optionally, the computed EO and image file paths) for the existing
photos but will not create any new photos.
Camera Settings
Camera
Select the camera that was used to take the photos. If the camera is not in the list, first use the Camera Wizard (Edit menu) to add it to the project.
Orientation
Select the orientation of the selected camera. The choices are 0, 90, 180, and 270 (degrees) to indicate the camera orientation in relation to the
model setup direction.
Convert Using
Units Only
Specifies a simple unit conversion of the imported exterior orientation parameters and standard deviations into the units of the ISPM project. When
this option is selected, the Linear Units and Angular Units settings are active for specifying the units of the input parameters.
Coordinate System
Specifies a coordinate system-based conversion of the exterior orientation parameters and standard deviations. The Linear Units settings are not
active when this option is selected because the linear units of the specified input coordinate system are used in the conversion. However, the
Angular Units options are made active because the coordinate system does not define the units to use for Omega, Phi, and Kappa and their
standard deviations.
Linear Units
Select the units to be applied to linear values in the selected exterior orientation file.
Angular Units
Select the units to be applied to angular values in the selected exterior orientation file.
Coordinate System (Define)

Exterior Orientation
The Export Exterior Orientation command exports the exterior orientation parameters of the active project to an ASCII file. You can specify whether to
export the project’s computed or given exterior orientation parameters, define which specific parameters to export, specify the columnar arrangement of
the data, and export values that are converted to linear and/or angular units that are different from the default units of the project.
Opens the Select Output File form. Enter the name of a new output ASCII file, and then click Save.
Type of Exterior Orientation
Select Computed to export the project’s computed exterior orientation parameters, or select Given to export its given parameters, such as those
provided by GPS and INS data.
Rotation Matrix
Select this option to specify that the nine elements of the 3 x 3 rotation matrix for transformation from object space to image space be written to the
output file. The following matrix, the elements of which are computed as r = r(kappa) * r(phi) * r(omega) , will be written as the last nine columns of
data in the output file in the order r11, r12, r13, r21, r22, r23, r31, r32, and r33.
Linear Units
Select the units in which linear values will be exported. If different from the project’s default linear units, the values are converted before they are written
to the output file.

The Export Photo Coordinates command allows you to translate photo coordinate data from the current project into a generic, fixed-column format that
includes photo ID, point ID, X coordinate, and Y coordinate information. This format does not support projects with multiple strip IDs.
You can NOT use the Import Photo Coordinates command (Translators menu) to import coordinate
data from files created by the Export Photo Coordinates command.
Click to activate the Select Output File form. Use this form to select an Output file.
Select the Photo Coordinate Type. Options are Raw and Refined.
Coordinate System Origin
Click which point of origin you want to use for the selected file. Options are Principal point of Auto Collimation and Fiducial Center.
Linear Units
Click the linear units to apply to the selected file. Options are millimeters and microns.

P-CAP/PHOREX
The Export P-CAP/PHOREX command allows you to translate model orientation data from the current application software format to:
n P-CAP (“PC Software for Orientation and Numeric Data Acquisition with the Planicomp”) format, that of Z/I Imaging P-series Planicomp® analytical
stereoplotters. The resulting .REL, .MOD, and .PEX files for one or more selected models are output to the folder of your choice.
n PHOREX (“Photogrammetric Orientation Exchange”) format , which is similar to P-CAP format except that all models are output to a single file. This
option is used typically with projects in which pass points have been converted to control points. You can control point-data output in such a way
that the original ground survey points in a model area are written first and then converted pass points next, all in an evenly distributed pattern, until
a specified maximum number of points is reached.
Your Relative and Absolute model parameters must be up-to-date before you export models to P-CAP
or PHOREX files. You can be sure of the most current parameters by first using the Bulk Orient command
(Orientations menu, Photo Triangulation submenu) to process the models with the Relative Orientation and Absolute
Orientation options selected.

Specifies the Q factor, or the number that is a rough indicator of relative image quality in JPEG compression. For any image, the amount of
compression seen at a given Q factor depends on the texture or smoothness of the image. Valid Q Factors are 1-99. The higher the Q factor, the
greater the image compression and the greater the differences between the compressed image and the original image.
OV Creation
None
Specifies that the output image will have no overviews.
Single
Creates a single, screen-size reduction of the original image that is generally 2,000,000 pixels or less. If the original image is greater than or
equal to 8,000,000 pixels, its dimensions are reduced by a factor of 2, 3, 4, and so on, until an overview that is closest in size to 2,000,000 pixels
is determined. If the original image is less than 8,000,000 pixels, the overview is one-half the scale of the original image.
Full Set
Creates a full set of overviews, which are all the overviews that result from reducing the original image and each succeeding overview by a scale
of one-half until the first overview to be less than 30 pixels in both dimensions is reached.
OV Method
Subsampling
Specifies an overview creation method without prefiltering that selects individual pixels at a regular sampling increment to create overviews (for
example, every second pixel for the first overview, every fourth pixel for the second overview, and so on).
Averaging
Specifies an overview creation method that prefilters pixels of the original image by averaging pixel areas whose dimensions are defined by the
default or user-defined sampling increments. Using a sampling increment of 2, for example, this method averages every 2-pixel by 2-pixel area of
the original image to create each pixel of the overview.
Gaussian
Specifies an overview creation method that applies Gaussian prefiltering to the image before subsampling it. Gaussian prefiltering applies the
following 5-by-5 weighted average convolution kernel to every pixel in the original image before subsampling occurs.
If you schedule a job, the operating system scheduling service must be running at the time and
day you specify and you must also be logged on as a user with administrator permissions at runtime.
Furthermore, you must configure an "AT service account" if the job references UNC paths (for example,
\\Server\images). For more information, see Configuring an AT Service Account.
