Free Time and Hobbies
Free Time and Hobbies
I haven’t got a lot of free time on weekdays because I have to study a lot, do my homework
but I have got more time on Saturdays and Sundays.
To tell you the truth, I don’t really like reading in my free time because I prefer watching TV
or playing computer games/surfing the net. // In my free time I enjoy reading very much, I
like reading romances/ fantasy books/ novels (regények)/ poems (versek)/ comics/
biographies (életrajzok)/books on nature, history, wars/ crime stories/ horror stories. I
sometimes go to the library, I can borrow books (kölcsönözhetek könyveket), read
newspapers and magazines, listen to music, use computers and make photocopies.
Nowadays people read less and less because they work a lot and they are too tired when they
get home. People prefer sitting in front of the TV and watching it. They prefer films to books.
I spend two hours in front of the TV every day. I switch it on when I get home from school
and always find something interesting. I have got some favourite channels, for example, .......
I often watch these channels because I’m interested in ......... I don’t really like soap operas
and talk shows. I find them boring and the people are often silly in them.
In my opinion commercials (TV reklámok) have got some advantages and disadvantages.
You can get to know new products (új termékeket ismerhetsz meg) and get information about
them. However, it is boring when I see the same commercial many times, they make me
nervous when they interrupt a film at the most exciting parts (ideges leszek, amikor a
legigazgalmasabb részeknél szakítják meg a filmet).
I sometimes listen to the radio, especially in the mornings because my parents switch it on, I
like commercial stations (kereskedelmi rádióállomásokat) with lots of good music and not
too much talk. I think radio has got advantages over TV because you can listen to the radio
when you can’t watch TV, for example, in a car or when you are at work. I’m interested in the
morning show on Radio.....
I don’t often go to the cinema as in my home town there isn’t one so I have to travel to the
nearest town/city when I want to go there. Multiplex cinemas (többtermes mozik) have
become very popular recently because there are several films at the same time and people can
choose what to see. There are big screens and comfortable chairs and the equipment is
modern. I’m fond of thrillers, action films, romantic films, comedies, adventure films, horror
films, fantasy films. Sometimes I watch subtitled films (feliratos filmek) because they are
useful for language learners but not very often since I am too lazy to read the subtitles.
I don’t have a season ticket (bérlet) to the theatre but every year I go to the theatre with my
class once or twice. People can sit in the stalls, boxes and balconies (zsöllye, páholy, erkély)
at the theatre. When there is an interval (szünet) they can go to the bar to have a drink or
something to eat. They can also talk about the performance (előadás), the actors and
actresses or they can see exhibitions in the corridors/hall.
When I go on trips with my class we always go to one or two museums. I know national
museums, science museums, museums of history, natural history museums, museums of fine
arts.
