DISCRIMINATION TOWARDS MUSLIMS 2

Introduction

According to Awan and Dr. Zempi (2020), declaration of Islamophobia contains

harassment, violence, verbal abuse, and offencive online and internet abuse. Muslims all around

the world can face islamophobia, and it has a very negative effect on muslims. Islamophobia

threatens health equity, but little is known about how discrimination affects Muslims' health

(NCBI, n.d.). In the US, Muslims have been subjected to racial profiling, harassment on college

campuses, and an immigration restriction. (NCBI, n.d.). Because of Islamophobia, muslims

around the world are discriminated against which affects them mentally and emotionally by

bringing them stress, fear, and anxiety as well as it limits their social integration.

Islamophobia in Different Ways

Muslims encounter islamophobia in different ways, when they encounter islamophobia,

and it affects their mental health. Islamophobia is social stigma toward Islam and Muslims,

dislike of Muslims as a political force, and a distinct construct referring to xenophobia and racism

toward Muslims or those perceived to be Muslim (NCBI, n.d.). Discrimination is linked to the

initiation of physiological reactions to stress, which have long-term consequences for health

outcomes, including a "wear and tear" effect on regulatory systems (NCBI, n.d.). This shows how

socially Muslims can be scared of the hatred from other countries. Things such as the “Muslim

ban” makes muslims feel that they have no value, which also makes them more scared of going to

other places. Discrimination towards muslims can have long-term consequences of “stress

reactions” shows how miserable it is for muslims to deal with Islamophobia almost everywhere.

In the US, Muslims frequently describe feeling threatened, alone, and alienated. Anyone who

"sounds" or "appears" Muslim is also affected by this, not just Muslims. Muslim women have

experienced harassment, intimidation, and physical abuse, particularly those who wear the

Islamic outer veil, or hijab. Muslim youth are bullied by classmates and adults, including teachers

and academics, who perceive them as dangers. Compared to students of other faiths, Muslim

youngsters are more likely to experience bullying at school. Muslims are being bullied and

harassed because of representing their religion. Even worse, muslim children in schools would

get bullied and targeted. They will be physically abused for representing their religion or for the

9/11 incident. It’s hard for muslims to make friends or feel unlonely anywhere they go because of

people treating them differently (Just a moment, n.d.). Muslims get treated a lot differently than

they should in many ways possible, and muslims will be bullied because of religion, but they can

also deal with it.

Muslims Fighting Back

Sometimes Islamophobes cut out muslims’ freedom and that, of course, won’t stop

muslims from doing their duties.Anti-Muslim sentiment has risen sharply in recent years. Attacks

against mosques directly target religious freedom, despite the fact that these emotions can take

many different forms. There have been attempts to obstruct or reject the required zoning permits

for the construction and expansion of other facilities. Existing and proposed mosque sites around

the nation have been the focus of vandalism and other criminal activity (American Civil Liberties

Union, n.d.).This shows how Islamophobes are heavily against islam and that they want to get rid

of it . But muslims won’t fight back physically, instead, they will pray to their lord to help them

out and they will remember the prophet and have patience. Even if those Islamophobes will

attack their religious homes and mosques, muslims will still go on with all they can and have

even more patience.Rasmus Paludan, the head of the Danish far-right political party Hard Line,

was in charge of the Quran burning. Swedish authorities say the protest was legal under the

country's free speech laws, but Sweden's leaders condemned the act, calling it "appalling."

(Turak, 2023).Some people in specific countries will be burning muslims’ holy Quran and that of

course will also not stop muslims from fighting back, knowing that the leader of Sweden said that

the act was horrifying, proves how muslims actually fought back. Now that muslims are having

their freedom cut off, they decided to fight back and earn back their freedom.

Conclusion

Islamophobia, which targets Muslims, makes them feel unwelcome and creates stress,

concern, and anxiety. It also makes it difficult for them to integrate into society.

Discrimination is associated with the start of stress-related physiological responses. This

demonstrates how socially afraid Muslims might be of hostility from other nations. Muslims are

bullied by peers and adults who view them as threats, including teachers and academics. Let's not

forget how Islamophobes prohibit Muslims from performing their duty; they have been damaging

mosques to keep Muslims from visiting them. Because of all this, muslims go through a lot

almost everyday. What islamophobes do affects muslims mentally and it is not okay for muslims

at all to face those islamophobes.
