New Mini-C 3027x Exchange & ID string.


This document describes how to make a duplicate of a defective 3027x (same ISN &
S/N).

Please be informed:
1. You are now able to change mobile type via an ID string, IF THE SOFTWARE
VERSION IN THE 3027x IS HIGHER THAN 1.00. Version 1.00 supporting only
3027C GMDSS version.
2. The printer kit is the same as you are using for the 3026x.
3. The ID string program and the label are still the same.

The ID string generator, it is only for our service partners having purchased the special
label printer kit from Thrane & Thrane A/S.

Procedure to duplicate a defective mini:

1. You need to enter the S/N and ISN number from the defective unit, (can be
found on the label located next to the connector plug) into our automatic ID
string generator on the Thrane & Thrane A/S Extranet.

2. Enter in the PCB number from the new unit and press send. Please see below.

3.The ID string generator will generate an ID string with the same details as the old
defective unit “duplicate” (same mobile type, ISN and S/N).

4.The ID string generated is unique for the new unit, and can not be downloaded into
another unit. The PCB number MUST match what you entered – please see below for
details regarding the PCB number:

Before you can generate the ID string needed you should check the PCB number in the
new unit you want to program. You can check the PCB number, by the command ver
(remember the complete PCB No. 16 characters A0-00077381-0190).

Receiving the ID string & Label:


ID string:
The ID string will be received in an E-mail as an attachment to the email address
specified to be used by the IDSTRING generator. You should enter the new ID string
(from the txt. file) into the new unit by means of HyperTerminal.
Before you can type in the ID string, you must login at SYSADM level.

The ID string command is:


Id <Blank space> xxxxxxxxxxxxxx 52 character<enter>)

Example:
id d261b0370f9e26547a8a00940b726c09880149102291496df64c<enter>

Passwords:
Please remember the SYSADM & DISTB passwords for the unit. The SYSADM &
DISTB passwords will be the same also after you have changed the S/N & ISN and a
software upgrade cannot solve this. The passwords will follow the S/N & ISN
downloaded in the unit from Thrane & Thrane A/S, and if the unit has changed ID, the
“old / original” passwords from Thrane & Thrane A/S production will remain the
passwords in the unit. If the “old / original” passwords are unknown please send us the
PCB number in eSupport, and we will locate the old passwords and reply.

Software:
Please make sure the unit is updated to the correct software version (depending on the
type of mini-C and local approvals etc) before the system is re-installed on the vessel.

Label:
The other attachment in the E-mail (the lbl. file) is the “label file”. When you double click
at this file you will print two labels out. Please put one of the labels on the unit as below,
and please make sure the label you put on is correct with the same S/N and ISN as you
can see by the command st –i:

After having made a duplicate of the defective unit, you must send the faulty unit back to
one of our RWS’s for service.
