in life?
Every person in society revolves around communication, which is crucial for establishing and
preserving happy relationships. Since they can promote collaboration, teamwork, and productivity at
work, school and life in general, excellent communication skills are very crucial. Also, clear
communication can improve leadership abilities and decrease conflict. Expanding on each point will
assist with emphasizing the meaning of communication.
Relationships
Any healthy relationships, whether it be with employers, classmates, families, or a romantic partner,
must be built on communication. Effective communication can help you forge better bonds with
others and steer clear of misconceptions or disagreements that might otherwise strain those bonds.
Due to the fact that we were assigned to a person at random, back-to-back sketching was a
significant activity in our class for enhancing communication. As we were paired off, this activity
challenged our communication skills as well as, of course, our patience because some of us didn't
even know each other's hobbies or had never even spoken. Everyone found it difficult to draw
anything extremely complex while still attempting to comprehend the person's directions, but a
teacher also offered a prize for the finest drawing. As a result, it inspired everyone to contribute their
talents and energy, which accidentally enhanced everyone's capacity for straightforward
communication and relationship formation.
Strong relationships between coworkers, managers, and employees can be cultivated at work with
the use of effective communication skills. Positive relationships can be built with customers and
other stakeholders with the use of effective communication. Employees can improve business
outcomes by communicating effectively and consistently with clients and other parties. If a manager,
for example, will not properly communicate the need, and the manager is the crucial part of the am
or pm team, it affects the work of the whole restaurant and impacts client’s satisfaction negatively.
Development Of Productivity
Ineffective communication can result in lost productivity and wasted time. Ineffective team
communication can cause activities to be executed improperly or late, adding to the workload and
wasting time. By ensuring that everyone involved in a project has a clear grasp of expectations,
duties, and goals, effective communication can assist to prevent these problems. The game called
"Diffuse A Bomb" that was played in our CLC class is an example of it. The idea behind the game was
for two team members to examine the device and describe what they observe, while the other team
members attempted to defuse the bomb by making the right assumptions or conclusions while
studying the manual. I personally tried both of the activities, including defusing a bomb and
communicating with 6 other people, which was a challenge due to the amount of people and a wish
to be heard. However, our group has effectively interacted with each other by the end of the game,
which helped us to diffuse a bomb and be glad of having such hard working great communicators in
the team, who effectively demonstrated how the goal must be achieved.
Strong leadership requires effective communication as a key element. Clear and regular
communication among leaders may inspire and encourage teams, create a climate of trust, and
promote a productive workplace. Effective leaders can spot possible problems or disputes early on
and take proactive measures to resolve them. Even if you never planned to be a leader, there are
moments when YOU must act in that capacity. It is the responsibility of the leader to take the
initiative and speak up if your team is unable to comprehend or execute the assignment. The
majority of the team members were silent and waiting patiently for instructions throughout the
activity, "nails on the string." As a result, my friend and I took the initiative and started asking
questions to ensure that no one is left out.
In this exercise, adopting a servant leadership approach improved communication and helped the
group finish the activity. Effective communicators are also more likely to gain their staff members'
respect and trust, which can boost employee engagement and job satisfaction. Leaders may assist
guarantee that everyone is united behind common goals and objectives by successfully
communicating with their workforce.
Respecting boundaries
Respecting one another's limits is a necessary component of effective communication. People can
set boundaries and expectations by communicating frankly and explicitly, which promotes a stronger
and more respectful bond between them. In the nearly week-long mock interview activity, I had the
chance to learn a lot about people and their backgrounds. Individuals who answered my questions
honestly have established a trustworthy relationship between "employee" and "employer," which
has a significant impact on their hiring. Being able to communicate with someone in a highly
professional but open manner taught us both how to respect people's limits when we are in different
positions of authority.
Resolving conflicts
Each relationship may experience conflicts, and good communication can aid in their constructive
resolution. People can resolve problems and reach a win-win outcome by listening to each other's
points of view and seeking common ground. This can foster mutual respect and trust while averting
more confrontation. The back-to-back drawing presented one potential area for disagreement
because some people prefer to carefully consider their explanations while others prefer to act
immediately. Due to the limited time and predetermined prize, it led to misunderstandings because
some participants were so incredibly motivated to succeed. It's crucial to patiently listen and
communicate when diverse types of individuals connect, since you do not hold the only opinion.
Different viewpoints can sometimes be advantageous to winning and attaining objectives, which is
why dialogue and communication aids in conflict resolution.
Providing feedback
Feedback from effective communication helps individuals recognise their strengths and places for
development. For instance, teachers who provide feedback in a positive and encouraging way might
aid students in adopting a growth mindset and enhancing their academic performance. We were
requested to provide feedback to our peers almost immediately after each exercise was completed.
In the interview, as you listen to the person being interviewed, you could think about the various
influences on people and how those influences also affect you. The mock interviews were an
essential element of my communication skill development since I learnt a lot about interviews,
corporate core values, how to give and receive constructive criticism, and other topics. It is crucial to
be able to give and take feedback in any situation.
