Policy 1:

Policy State: State of Michigan

The Model Local School Wellness Policy was created by the Michigan State Board of

Education with the intention of enhancing students' academic achievement and emotional well-

being, (www.michigan.gov , 2017).

Policy Name, Number and Date Policy Was Enacted:

The policy is titled "Michigan State Board of Education Model Local School Wellness

Policy". State Board of Education of Michigan's Sample Local School Wellness Policy is

intended to serve as a template for local school districts as they design their own wellness

policies. This is the major goal of the example policy. This document is intended to serve as a

replacement for the 2005 model policy, and it should be revised to integrate the specific policies

and procedures employed by each local school district, (www.michigan.gov, 2017).

Target Audience:

This rule applies to anybody associated in any manner with the school, including

students, instructors, and even the parents of those kids.

Policy Summary:

The Model Local School Wellness Policy published by the State Board of Education in

Michigan strives to provide an environment where students may freely discuss and commit to

adopting healthy lifestyle choices without fear of punishment. These options may include diet

and exercise-related options. Below you can find a summary of the policy's most essential

1. Cause for Raising Nutritional Concepts Knowledge One of the goals of the nutrition

lessons provided to students is for them to develop a higher sense of self-efficacy and

mastery in the kitchen.

Michigan's State Board of Education Created the Wellness Policy Model for Local

Schools in an Attempt to Enhance Student Health and Happiness and to Encourage a

Community-Wide Emphasis on Health and Happiness Issues. Children may be encouraged in

developing excellent character qualities by being taught to respect authoritative figures and to

value themselves in school.

Sub-Policy:

Take the following as an example: The Local School Wellness Policy was created by the

Michigan State Board of Education to aid schools in improving the health and well-being of their

students via the use of methods such as increasing students' access to physical exercise and

encouraging good diet.

A school's wellness policy should outline the school's goals for nutrition education,

establish minimum standards for physical education, and specify the sorts of nutritious meals

offered to students. According to this policy, all children should have access to potable water, all

pupils should participate in daily physical education, and all children should have free

communication with both their instructors and parents.

In addition, it is crucial for schools to undertake periodic surveys of students, parents, and

The Model Local School Wellness Policy suggested by the Michigan State Board of

lifestyles and make better dietary choices, but its implementation may be hard. The following are

some potential implementation obstacles:

implement the Local School Wellness Policy. This is something that must be

remembered. This might be the consequence of inadequate funding for programs that

promote healthy lifestyle changes, such as better diet and increased physical activity,

or a lack of appropriately qualified personnel, or a combination of these factors.

2. There is a chance that meeting all of the district's standards may be challenging.

Monitoring and enforcing nutritional requirements for school meals and snacks, in

addition to ensuring that pupils engage in enough physical activity, is one possible

solution to the problem.

3. It is essential for the success of any school health program to include the families of

the kids and the larger community. If a policy requiring children to engage in

alternate school food or fitness programs has unforeseen negative effects on parents

and community members, those affected may be more likely to oppose the policy. For

instance, if the policy mandates that children engage in alternate school food or

fitness programs, the unexpected negative effects include:

Policy Name, Number and Date Policy Was Enacted:

Social Media and Phone Guidelines for Educators were approved on June 9, 2022.

Target Audience: Employees and students are the primary audience for social media and mobile

phone use guidelines in the classroom.

Summary of the Policy:

The Board acknowledges the need of integrating current pedagogical approaches, such as

the use of electronic resources, into more traditional educational settings, such as elementary,

secondary, and postsecondary institutions. The board members are fully aware of the threats that

young people who abuse technology bring to society as a whole. As a result, these rules

emphasize the protection of children while promoting the educational benefits of technology.

Notwithstanding this, it is possible that some local governments may enact legislation restricting

the use of electronic devices by both students and teachers during school hours, (Arizona States

Board of Education, 2022).

According to new law enacted by the Arizona legislature, instructors are not permitted to

use personal electronic devices or social media during class time. Schools and teachers are

responsible for ensuring the safety of children and employees who use social media. Because to

the fact that Einstein shared this information with us, we owe him a substantial debt. If a teacher

wants to be regarded seriously, they must first monitor their internet reputation, (Arizona States

Board of Education, 2022).

Only school-related calls and text messages should be made or received on a teacher's

phone while they are in the classroom. All students must adhere strictly to the school's policy

prohibiting the use of cellphones.

The goal of these recommendations is to serve as a gentle reminder to teachers that their

own professional standards may be compromised if they let students to use mobile devices and

social media in the classroom.

Sub-Policies:

As a result, I am unable to present you with the most recent policy or guidelines created

by the Arizona State Board of Education. There is a broad array of policies that regulate how

instructors may utilize mobile devices and social media sites, depending on the school or

organization. These policies include restrictions and procedures. Often, these regulations include

instructions on how to use social media and cell phones in an appropriate way. This is done in an

attempt to provide all children with a safe and effective learning environment.

The following is a list of additional restrictions that govern instructors' usage of social media;

these restrictions may be found at a variety of schools.

Students are expressly prohibited from posting images or videos of themselves on social media

otherwise inappropriate words, pictures, or concepts.

calls. Any other use of the telephones is absolutely banned.

5. The ability for personal use of school-issued phones is severely restricted, limiting their

7. When using student phones for meetings or taking notes, make sure to adhere to these

standards to preserve the privacy of the students.

usage of cell phones by pupils.

In order to create a safe and productive learning environment for their children, teachers are

obliged to be knowledgeable with and comply with the social media and phone policies of the

school district or particular school.

Implementation Issues:

In certain classes and institutions, it may be difficult to properly enforce regulations

restricting teachers' use of personal mobile phones and social media sites. During the

implementation process, it is not impossible to encounter the following types of issues:

It is conceivable that instructors may not know how to use student-friendly technologies

such as mobile phones and social media effectively in the classroom. This may be the underlying

reason of the improper usage of these tools. Schools may address this issue by providing regular

training for their teachers and staff to keep them up to date on newly enacted laws, rules, and

policies and to advise them on how to implement these laws, rules, and policies effectively.

In order to properly enforce the school's norms and traditions, teachers must also

demonstrate proper behavior. Schools may develop a reporting system and disciplinary action

plan for rule violations at the discretion of the administration.

It may be difficult to maintain a healthy balance between your work and personal life if

you use your phone and other social media platforms for both business and personal purposes. In

certain situations, school policy requires that students' access to electronic media such as

smartphones and social networking sites be restricted.

As mobile and social media technologies continue to improve, compliance with existing

regulations becomes more difficult for educational institutions. Establishing a system of periodic

evaluation may be advantageous for educational institutions such as colleges and universities, as

it helps to ensure that their programs continue to evolve in line with the most current findings

and recommendations in the field of education.

When these issues are ultimately resolved, schools will be able to enact regulations that

require teachers to counsel students through social media and the telephone while preserving a

safe and professional learning environment for their students.
