Chapter 1
1.1 Introduction/Background
Courier track can be simply defined as the localization of packages ,containers , parcels, or shipments at
the time of sorting.
This tends to aid in monitoring and verification of their movements as well as the source hence
providing the individual (customer or supplier) with an estimate of the final delivery.
It is also implemented at different points in time during sorting , warehousing , and package delivery to
verify their provenance and to predict and aid delivery.
There are many issues we as users of various ecommerce sites and w users of other shipping companies
tend to face day in an day out with respect to lack of information concerning the location of our goods
at a specific period of time, thereby leading to lack of reassurance between both the costumer and
suppliers especially when items are in the process of being delivered. This tends to increase costumer
anxiety, increasing pressure on costumer services on the logistics firm as well highlighting the inability
the inability to retrieve lost packages, shipping containers and parcels.
The aim of this project is to highlight or emphasize on the many advantages that the implementation of
a courier tracking alternative and process can have on both the costumer and the logistics firm in terms
of its ability to provide transparency, provide accurate and detailed information and also the ability to
know the exact location of a of a package data particular time to be able to retrieve or recover it etc.
To create a web page that allows users to subscribe to the services we provide.
As a user of many shipping platforms and ecommerce websites, this project would be able to eliminate
anxiety between customers and suppliers the inability to locate a particular shipment and many other
factors that tend to be major problems in the absence of this project and a such with the
implementation of this project all the above mentioned issues would be duly catered for and resolved.
This project aims to reduce the amount of pressure pit on customer services on logistics firms as well as
tackle the issue of lack of adequate information pertaining to the location of a particular shipped good
or parcel. In doing this, the main beneficiaries of this project is going to be both the supplier and
customer where in the case of the supplier, the credibility and social status is also maintained whereas
in the case of the customer, anxiety is reduced as well as customer satisfaction achieved.
The logistics firm also tends to gain more income as more people tend to purchase more goods and
trust their process as they subscribe to their services.
Chapter 2
UPS Tracking offers several ways to track, and provides convenient ways to stay informed of current
status, unexpected delays, and ultimately the delivery of your shipment.
Track by Reference
This is when customers can assign a reference like a purchase order number or customer number (up to
35 characters) to help track shipments without entering tracking numbers.
Tracking History:
Customers are also able to account to view up to 75 of their most recently tracked shipments.
Customers can store up to 50 tracking numbers in the Tracking History table for easy access. This is also
the place to add or change a shipment description for a quick, at-a-glance reference.
With regards to the above measures implemented by UPS, there are various solutions that can be taken
into consideration in order to better their overall system.
● Proposed solution:
One major issue with regards to UPS courier tracking system is the fact that it lacks a login page
for its everyday users as well as its admin users as well.
With regards to the above, the proposed solution to the above stated issue is the inclusion of
the forementioned pages in order to distinguish between the services available for the admins
and that of its regular costumers or users.

In this module, admin receive payments via the Internet or in situations when a payment is
physically presented to the admin by the user at the time of the transaction.
● Tracking
This module is available to all users to track the couriers. This would tell about the current status
of courier.
● Distributor
● Distributor will collect the courier from the respective address and drop to the courier service.
Distributors once logged can update the status of delivery. Admin can view the status of all
packages that are being managed by dealers. Finally distributors out to deliver the courier to the
customer.
● Feedback
In this module, provides positive criticism and allows to see what everyone can change to
improve their focus and results. Each customer can transform every aspect of this company for
the better if you listen to their feedback.
● Functional requirements:

1. Admin login credentials.
2. User login credentials.
3. Distributor login credentials.

1. System overview
This project deals with the ‘Courier Tracking System’. This system is to maintain day to day
activities. Users can get their tracker id and payment receipt. Once user login and pay for the
courier service, distributor will pickup courier from the respective address. This website can be
used in several different domains for tracking goods sent by user and finally customer receives
SMS. It even helps the authority to keep an eye on sent goods. Customer feedback is an
important aspect of running a business that often gets overlooked. Customers feedback takes
your business to a new level.
