Week 1-2 THE WEATHER SEASONS
A season is a period of the year that is distinguished by special climate conditions.
The four seasons—spring, summer, fall, and winter—follow one another regularly.
Each has its own light, temperature, and weather patterns that repeat yearly.

In autumn the weather turns colder and often rains. The leaves start to change color and fall off the trees.

In winter the weather is cold and we sometimes get snow and frost. The trees have no leaves.

In spring the weather usually turns warmer, trees begin to grow their leaves, plants start to flower and young
animals such as chicks and lambs are born.

In summer the weather is usually hot and trees have full green leaves

According to the meteorological definition, the seasons begin on the first day of the months that in-
clude the equinoxes and solstices. In the Northern Hemisphere, for example,

 spring runs from March 1 to May 31;


 summer runs from June 1 to August 31;
 fall (autumn) runs from September 1 to November 30; and
 winter runs from December 1 to February 28 (February 29 in a leap year).
Winter – December, January and February.
Spring – March, April and May.
Summer – June, July and August.
Autumn – September, October and November.
